Chapter 14: Kiryuu Zero is thirsty
It was dark, so dark…
Zero could not see a thing, he could only feel, feel and hear. He was feeling the pain fading
and being replaced with numbness, this scared him, not feeling pain means he is closer to
death . He could also hear muffled voices, they were not being quiet; it was jus t because his
ears felt like they are stuffed, like he's just having a bad cold, Kiryuu Zero knew it was not
just a cold. But he just couldn't remember what happ ened or what state he was in exactly, he just wanted this to end. He wanted to pass out already bu t his stubborn body was
holding on to&nb sp;consciousness. He could feel the presence of at least t hree people. No,
vampires.
One presence was very close, too close…dangerous ly close. Zero tried not to think about the
pulse he could feel and hear so clearly near his left ear,&n bsp;but his vampire level-E instincts
kicked in. his head slowly tilted up and closer to the exposed vein, he felt like he had no
control over ;his body, survival instincts were doing all& nbsp;the work. His left arm went slowly up,&n bsp;
crawling in air, then his fingers sluggis hly traced the nick harboring that delicious blood, and
they finally weaved themselves in soft short locks. His fangs fully extended now. He felt the
body behind him tense but&nb sp;he was too close, too hungry, too afraid&n bsp;to feel any remorse, and
Zero gave& nbsp;the pale skin a quick lick before biting gently; he was too tired to bite hard. He
shivered as he felt the sweet, long awaited, thick liquid run down his throat, it tasted so
good that his fingers strengthened their grip on the hair i n an attempt to get closer to the
s ource. For a second, Zero was confused as to what the blood tasted like, it was strong yet
gentle, and he could taste a trace of pureblood in it. Zero did not ponder on this for long
though, for now he is just going to survive, he will think about this later.

Ichijo sighed as he and his fellow vampires finally finished patching up the hunter, it was a
very difficult task, for the hunter did not stop moving and tried to get up the whole time. He
ran his hand through his blonde locks as he looked&nb sp;around the room.
The place was a big mess; blood traces where they dragged the hunter from the door to the
bed,&nbs p;dozens of bloody cloths lay everywhere, a&n bsp;disinfectant bottle lay empty next to a half
filled one, Kiryuu Zero's white uniform was in a bloody heap near the bed, cut and slashed.
A bowl of water was half full now, the sti ll water was disturbed as a cloth was placed in it,
taken out and squeezed almost dry.
Aidou handed the cloth back to Shiki, who was still sitting behind t he hunter, the redhead
placed the cloth on Zero's forehead. Aidou placed his cloth now in the water, squeezed it
and went back to his task of trying to cool down the hunter's heat ed body. He looked at his
cousin who was trying to cle an the room a little, he looked up at the other blonde, he
frowned…they were all thinking the&nbs p;same thing. Kiryuu Zero will not survive this without
blood.
"His fever is not going down." Aidou finally spoke.
"He&nbs p;stopped moving…I'm not sure that's a good thing." Shiki whispered.
"I will go call Kaname- Sama." Ichijo said suddenly&n bsp;and turned around, but before he
reached the door he heard a soft gasp.
He t urned around to find Zero gripping Shiki by&n bsp;the hair and his fangs so close to his neck.
Kain ma de a move to stop the hunter, but they were a ll shocked when Shiki raised his hand
to stop him. The half pureblood closed his eyes and slowly nodded his head.
"But…Kana…" Ai dou started but Shiki's eyes shut up as he cut him sharply "He's dying!"
No one tried to st op anything this time, deep down they knew&nb sp;this was necessary. Shiki
gasped slightly when sharp, untrained fangs punctured soft skin. His eyelids d rooping
slowly, he leant backwards to give the hunter more&nb sp;access to his neck. Zero must have felt&nb sp;
the invitation because his fingers tightened in Shiki's hair as he drank the half pure blood. The hunter was sucking desperately that Sh iki feared he won't stop, but again it was as if the
hunter c ould feel his distress; his fangs retracted, he gave a last lick of the wound and his
head dropped in exh austion on the half pureblood's shoulder. His fingers finally let go of
Shiki's hair and his hand dropped to the bed as he breathed heavily. It was obvious that he
was stil l tired and needed more blood, but Kiryuu Zero, a severely&nbs p;injured level-E, was able
to stop himself from what could be his only way of surviving this night.
Shiki sighed in both relief and a dmiration as he looked down at the now s leeping hunter.
"Ah…I didn't t hink he would stop" Kain said after letting out&nb sp;a breath he didn't know he was
holdin g.
"This will not heal him but at least he got back some of the blood he lost, he still needs a lot
though, it might also bring down his fever a bit , if he's lucky." Aidou said getting up, picking
up the bowl and heading to the& nbsp;bathroom.
"I think we should all give him some." Ichijo said almost to&nbs p;himself.
"Blood!?" Kain almost shouted the ;word.
"What?" Aidou came from the bathroom&n bsp;with the bowl now full with cold wat er.
"It's better than having Kaname-Sama dra ined of every drop, we can help him too." Ichijo
explained
"How did you know Kaname-Sama was planning on giving h im his blood?" Aidou said in
awe.
"Oh come on, deep down you all knew it" Ichi jo answered eyeing all of them.
"I'm&nbs p;going to suggest that to Kaname-Sama, any&n bsp;objections?" Ichijo said now with
determinatio n in his eyes, he was relieved to see the same determination in his friends' eyes
as they all n odded in agreement.
