Promise
Pushing past the heavy doors that led outside the stuffy university library, Hitomi stepped out into the cool night air. It wrapped around her like a blanket, reaching into the sleeves of her thin fall jacket and lightly frosting her breath as she sighed happily.
She sauntered down the empty sidewalk, enjoying the quiet nightlife around her; she wasn't in a rush to get home tonight.
Her leisurely footsteps faltered when her gaze rose to the sky.
Not one cloud marred the void of empty space above her, the only decoration being the miniscule stars spackled across the horizon.
She smiled fondly at the glowing moon - a single moon - set solemnly against the ink-black sky.
