Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction / Fan Fiction ❯ Dragon Mage ❯ Episode 1: The New Game ( Chapter 1 )

[ A - All Readers ]

Yugi and his friends stumble across a portal to another world, and try to play a new card game.

Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I do own the entire Dragon Mage card game.

"Yuge, we're gonna be late!" said Joey, as he tried to hurry Yugi's shower along. It was Saturday, and they were going to the weekly tournament at Duke Devlin's Game Shop to play Dungeon Dice Monsters.

Joey heard the water stop. In 2.384 seconds, Yugi had dried off, gotten dressed and opened the door.

"Okay. I just need to grab my DDM stuff!" replied Yugi, walking down the hall to his room.

--- 5 minutes later ---

Yugi, Joey, Téa, Tristain, and even Ryou were walking to the Game Shop when suddenly…

"AUGH!" The ground seemed to turn to mush, and they slipped right through.

YUGI'S POV

"Yugi, Yugi wake up." I recognized the voice as Téa's. I slowly opened my eyes. I could see something going on. It looked like some sort of duel. As we got closer, I could hear what they were saying.

"Sky Mage, attack!" exclaimed the duelist commanding it. Then I looked at the other side of the arena. A monster with Emerald Armor was being attacked. Then I saw the scoreboard; it looks like the duelists had something like Life Points, because his score had just dropped to 0. "Your Emerald Warrior didn't stand a chance!" said the first duelist.

"There's no way you could've beat me! I've never lost a duel! And I've played over 1000 games!" retorted Duelist #2. Duelist #1 just picked up his cards and left.

DUELIST #2's POV

I can't believe I actually lost a duel. My emerald Warrior had 2300 Hit Points (hereafter called HP)! It also had 2000 Defensive Points (hereafter called DEF). True it only has 500 Offensive Points (hereafter called OFF), but he still had 3775 Life remaining!

Wait. Something's among the trees. "Who's there?" I demanded. They stepped out. One of them had a golden pyramid around his neck. Another was a blonde guy who looked totally clueless. Then there was a brunette female, A brunette male, and a kid with white hair with what looked like some sort of golden ring. A LARGE golden ring. A VERY, VERY, LARGE golden ring.

The golden-pyramid boy then spoke. "My name is Yugi Motoh," he said.

Then the clueless guy spoke with a heavy Brooklyn accent. "Da name iz Joey Wheeler."

The female spoke next. "Hi, I'm Téa Gardner," said she.

"I would be Tristain Taylor," the brunette guy added.

"That would make me Ryou Bakura," White-Hair stated.

"Hi, ya'll," I said in my southern USA accent, "My name is Kaleb Johnson; ya'll are new around here arncha?"

The one who calls himself Joey then replied, "Dat'd be us!" somewhat funnily.

"You ya'll play the Dragon Mage TCG?" I asked them.

"No, but I'm sure you can teach us," replied Yugi, innocently.

YUGI'S POV

//Hikari, are you sure about this?// Yami asked me.

/Yep. I like to try new things, Yami. You should, too./ I replied.

//Wasn't Dungeon Dice Monsters enough?//

/Well, here they seem to take this game seriously, kinda like Duel Monsters back home./

Third-Person POV

"C'mon, follow me," said Kaleb. So they did. As they were, they heard shouts from nearby dueling rings.

"Ice Storm deals 300 damage to your Life!"

"Evil Fisherman of Chancel, attck her directly!"

"Curing Antidote heals my Poison and raises my Life by 1/2 of yours."

"Theif of Namo lets me take 1 card from your hand."

"WE'RE HERE!" exclaimed Kaleb, making the other 5 jump 3 feet back.

"Don't scare us like that," said Tristain.

Kaleb opened the door. "Dad, I'm back. These 5 wanna learn to play Dragon Mage."

Kaleb's Dad looked at his son's newfound friends. "You say you've never played before?" he asked them.

"Exactly," said Ryou, in his Brittish accent.

"Well, here." Kaleb's dad said, as he handed all 5 of them a starter and 3 10-card supplement packs.

"The rules are in the starter," pointed out Kaleb.

"Hey Yuge," said Joey, "wanna be my first opponent?"

"Sure, Joey," replied Yugi, as he opened his starter.

"We have a dueling arena out back, if you're intrested," said Kaleb.

--- Out back ---

"Alright Yuge, let's go," said Joey as both of them ascended to the platforms with their decks anr rulebooks.

"Now, this says we each draw a starting hand of 6 cards. I'll go first, so I draw 1 card." Yugi does so. "Now, this says I need mana to summon monsters, so I'll play FIRE MANA B. The card says this gives me 2 FIRE mana. Then, I'll pay both of them to summon Cheriett (650 HP/850 OFF/725 DEF). Your move.

"Now according to dis, I draw 3 cards, and from here on out we each draw 2 cards," said Joey, "Now I'll play WATER MANA C to give me 3 WATER mana. Now I pay all 3 ta summon Aqua Dolphin (1000 HP/1000 OFF/1000 DEF). Now, Aqua Dolphin, attack Cheriett!" Joey watched as Cheriett's HP went from 650 to 375. "Yo move, Yuge."

"Alright," said Yugi, as he drew 2 cards, "Now I'll play WIND MANA D, which says it gives me 4 WIND mana. Now I'll pay 3 of them to summon Windstorm ([From here on out XXXX/XXXX/XXXX means XXXX HP/XXXX OFF/XXXX DEF.]1150/925/1275). Now I'll combo attack Cheriett to Windstorm and attack Aqua Dolphin!" Joey watched as Yugi's Windstorm's OFF went from 925 to 1350 and struck his Aqua Dolphin (HP: 1000 ‡ 650). "Your move Joey," said Yugi.

"This seems like an easy enough game," stated Téa.

"It is… if you can summon enough monsters," said Kaleb, mysteriously.

Joey drew 2 cards. "I play Double the Mana, Double the Fun. This allows me to play 2 mana cards every turn. I guess this goes in one of these 10 spell slots, huh?"

"Yep," replied Kaleb.

"Now I play WIND MANA B & WIND MANA D. Now I get 6 WIND mana, and I pay 5 of them to summon Card in the Hand Means 200 in Offensive Power (1300/2x(100)/800). It's ability says dis monster has 200 OFF for every card in my hand. (A/N: In Algebra, 2x(100) means 2 times a number times 100.) Now my monster has 1000 OFF! CitHM200iOP to Aqua Dolphin (OFF: 1000 ‡ 1500) attacking his Chariett (HP: 375 ‡ 0). And da rules say you take the rest of the damage! Your move," ended Joey.

Yugi-4600 Joey-5000

Yugi drew. "I play DARK MANA C (3 DARK mana) and end my turn."

"I play FIRE MANA B and EARTH MANA E (2 FIRE + 5 EARTH). Now I'll summon Pyra, the Fire Fairy (Cost: 2 FIRE/800/1125/1200) and Rockin' and Rollin' Stone (Cost: 5 EARTH/2000/1500/1650) and Wind Cannon (Cost: 1 AIR/200/100/50) Now, Wind Cannon, Pyra, Aqua Dolphin, and CitHM200iOP to RaRS (1500 ‡ 1550 ‡ 2113 ‡ 2613 ‡ 2813). ATTACK!"

Yugi watched smugly as his Windstorm (HP: 1150 ‡ 0) was stricken down and he lost a chunk of Life.

Yugi-4212 Joey-5000

"I draw," started Yugi, "and play DARK MANA D (4 DARK). Go."

Joey draws 2 cards. "Everyone, attack!"

"Not so fast. I use my Death Guard from my hand to lower damage by 1000 points. (4525 ‡ 3525).

Yugi-0687 Joey-5000

"Does Yugi know what he's doing?" asked Téa.

"Well, Yugi did open a booster, so it is possible he got an Elemental Dragon," responded Kaleb.

Yugi drew 2 cards. "Well, Joey. Here I go. I play WATER MANA B. Now I pay my 7 DARK mana, and 3 of any, my 2 WATER mana, and my AIR mana from earlier. This allows me to summon the DARK DRAGON (3500/2850/3250). DD, attack!"

The Dark Dragon just roared and sent a beam hurling at RaRS (HP: 2000 ‡ 800). Then it shot a beam at Wind Cannon (HP: 200 ‡ 0).

Yugi-0687 Joey-2400

Next it attacked CitHM200iOP (HP: 1300 ‡ 0)

Yugi-0687 Joey-1650

Then it struck Joey directly! "AAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!" shouted Joey as he was hit with a DARK ENERGY BREATH BEAM.

Yugi-0687 Joey-0000

Even though Joey lost, the Dragon kept attacking. It attacked Pyra (0 HP), then Aqua Dolphin (0 HP). Finally, the monsters dissappeared as the Dragon stopped.

Tristain grabbed Kaleb by the collar. "What happened here?!?" he demanded.

"Yugi didn't have the DARK RING in play, so he couldn't control his monster," replied Kaleb.

"Then what about the multiple attacks?" retorted Ryou.

"DARK DRAGON can attack once for every monster in play, including itself. 6 monsters, 6 attacks." Tristain let Kaleb go at this.
