CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

SCORE: (Sam: 3900 / Alex: 3850)

Alex: “Okay, Sammy… time to do some damage.”

Sam: “Bring it on!”

Alex: “First I'll activate my Spy-Girl's Special ability… since my life points are lower than yours… by paying half of them, I can lower your life points by one-quarter.”

SCORE: (Sam: 2925 / Alex: 1925)

“And now.. I'll have her attack your Legendary Fisherman. SUPER-SPY KICK!!”

(Attack fails)

Alex: “What?! My attack's not working?”

Sam: “You haven't seen my Legendary-Fisherman in action Alex. His special-ability protects him from all attacks, and Spell-effects as long as the card UMI is in play… And my Legendary Ocean's name is also treated as Umi.”

Alex: “So then… I can't attack?”

Sam: “No… you can attack him, it just won't work.”

Alex: “GRR!!”

Sam: “It's my move now.”

(Draws)

“First I play CARD OF SANCTITY!! Now we both get to draw until we're both holding Six cards.” (Rules fudged, but you know that already)

(Both Draw six cards)

“And Now I'll summon MERMAID KNIGHT in attack mode.”

Originally… (Atk: 1500 / Def: 700)

With bonus… (Atk: 1700 / Def: 900)

“And her effect also comes from Umi. It allows her to attack twice per turn. But first I have other things planned…. Like this…”

“The Trap card… GIFT OF THE MYSTICAL ELF! This will give me 300 life points for every monster on the field.”

SCORE: (Sam: 4125 / Alex: 1925)

“Now I'll activate my Green Spy-Girl's effect. I'll pay half of my life points and destroy all your Magic and Trap Cards.”

SCORE: (Sam: 2062 / Alex: 1925)

(All but one of Alex's Cards is destroyed)

“Wait a minute! Why is that card still standing? My Spy-Girl should have destroyed it.”

Alex: “Guess again, Sam. One of those two face-downs you hit was FAKE-TRAP. It activates whenever you try and destroy my trap cards so you can only target it instead.”

Sam's thoughts:
“Oh, no! This means Alex still has a Trap she can use. I don't have anything in my hand that can counter it, and my Spy-Girl can only use her effect once per turn.”

“Well… I still have more monsters on the field than she does, so I might as well risk it and see what she's trying to hide.”

Sam: “Both our Spy girls have the same attack strength, so they'll both be destroyed this turn. Go Green Spy-Girl, SUPER-SPY KICK!!”

(Atk: 2300) VS (Atk: 2300)

Alex: “Sorry Sam, but walking into this trap was a bad move… MAGICAL ARM SHEILD!! It let's me take one of your monsters to shield me from your Spy-Girl's attack, and I think I'll take your Fisherman.”

Sam: “Ah, No! My Fisherman can't stand up to Traps.”

(Atk: 2300) VS (Atk: 2050)

Alex:“And since your Fisherman is trapped, the Ocean can't protect him, and since you attacked your own monster, you lost the life points.”

SCORE: (Sam: 1812 / Alex: 1925)

Sam's thoughts: “Rats… Alex got the better of me this turn. Got to admit, it was pretty clever.”

Sam: “I'll put one card face-down, and end my turn.”

Alex: “My move now… and first I'll play POT OF GREED so I can draw two cards.”

(Draws)

And I'll also play POLEMERIZATION… fusion together my ALIGATOR SWORD, and BABY DRAGON to create… ALIGATOR SWORD DRAGON!!”

(Atk: 1700 / Def: 1500)

Sam: “What good can making that monster do? It's not strong enough to take out any of my monsters.”

Alex: “Well… you see, it's not really going to attack your monsters. See it's special ability only works if you only have Earth, Water, or Fire monsters in play, he can pass right over them an attack you directly.”

Sam: “Ah?!”

Alex: “But first… Yellow-Spy Girl… Take out her Mermaid knight!”

(Atk: 2300) VS (Atk: 1700)

SCORE: (Sam: 1212 / Alex: 1925)

“Now that that's done, I'll have my Alligator Sword Dragon move in on your life points.”

Mykan: “Awe… if Alex's attack works, Sam's life points will be all wiped out.”

Sabrina: “But wait… what if Sam has a--”

Alex: “Go Alligator Sword Dragon… fly over her Spy-Girl, and attack her life points directly!!”

Sam: “Not so fast… activate the Continuous-Trap… TORNADO WALL!!”

(Water-Twisters block the attack)

Alex: “Whoa?! My attack was blocked!”

Sam: “As will every other direct-attack you try on me, as long as this card, and a Umi card stay in play, I can't be attacked directly.”

Alex: “In that case… I'll just play DIAN KETO CURE MASTER, and boost my life points by 1000, and place this face down too, then I'll end my turn.”

SCORE: (Sam: 1212 / Alex: 2925)

Sam's thoughts: “Why didn't she use her Spy-Girl's special ability? She must be up to something. I better try and end this before I lose my advantage.”

(Draws)

“And this card clenches it for me.”

Sam: “You know Alex, this duel sure has been exciting for me, but now it's going to end.”

Alex: “Hmm?”

Sam: “I play CHANGE O F HEART, and I'll use it to take control of your Dragon.”

Alex: You what?!”

Sam: “But that's not all. I could have it attack you directly, but I'd rather do this. I play another Magic-Card… DE-FUSION, and I'll spilt them up into their separate forms.”

“Now I'll sacrifice them both, along with my Green Spy-Girl to bring forth my ultimate monster. MOISTURE CREATURE!!”

(Atk: 2800 / Def: 2900)

“And when he's summoned by sacrificing the three monsters, I can destroy all you magic an Trap cards.”

(Alex's face-down, destroyed)

Alex: “GRR! Is there anything you got that can't destroy my face-downs?!”

Sam: “Who knows? But it looks like your Yellow Spy-Girl's really going to get it now! Go Moisture Creature… MOISTURIZER BLAST!

(Atk: 2800) VS (Atk: 2300)

SCORE: (Sam: 1212 / Alex: 2425)

Alex: “She's gone! My Spy-Girl's been blown to bits!”

Sam: “You better your last move count Alex…”

Mandy's thoughts: “Gee. I never thought I'd think this before, but those two sure are going at it hard. This next draw could decide the fate of the whole match.”

Alex's thoughts: “I only have one shot left at beating that thing. Deck… don't let me down now.”

(Draws)

Alex: “First… I'll place this face down, and then activate this… my GRAVE ROBBER! I'll pay 2000 of my life points, and I'll steel a Magic-Card from your graveyard.”

SCORE: (Sam: 1212 / Alex: 425)

Sam: “My Monster Reborn card?”

Alex: “You got it… and I'll use to bring back a monster that I discarded earlier. I'll give you two guesses, but you'll only need one.”

Sam: “You mean its--?”

Alex: (Nods) “My RED-EYES BLACK DRAGON!!”

(Atk: 2400 / Def: 2000)

“And now I'll have him attack your Moisture Creature!”

Sam: “What are you trying to pull, Alex? Your Red-Eyes is much too weak to even scratch my Moisture Creature.”

Alex: “Not really, because now my face-down kicks in… RUSH RECKLESSLY!!”

Sam: “Oh, no! That gives your Red-Eyes an extra 700 points!”

Alex: “You bet… now go for it Red-Eyes… INFERNO FIRE-BLAST!!”

(Atk: 3100) VS (Atk: 2800)

SCORE: (Sam: 912 / Alex: 425)

Alex: “So, any last words?”

Sam: “Yeah… six… This Duel IS Not Over Yet!”

(Draws)

Sam: And This card proves it… MONSTER REINCARNATION! Now I'll discard one card from my hand to the graveyard, and bring back a monster, now I'll summon it face-down and end my turn.”

Alex's thoughts: “Okay… this is it… someone's about to lose this duel, I know it.”

(Draws)

“Giant Trunade... playing this would send all magic and trap cards off the field and back into the player's hand's. I could play this to dry up Sam's Ocean card.. but what if I can't destroy what she has out.”

Sam: “Come on, Alex… what are you waiting?!”

Mandy: “Come on! Just make your move and end this boring match!”

Alex's thoughts: “Wait… Sam's Water monster gained power and were protected from the Ocean. So if I destroy her Ocean card--”

“I think I just may have pulled out a winner.”

Alex: “I play… GIANT TRUNADE… it send all magic and trap-cards back to our hands, including your ocean card.”

(Legendary Ocean dries up)

“Now I summon GEARFRIED THE IRON KNIGHT!!”

(Atk: 1800 / Def: 1600)

“Go and attack that face down monster, and see what it is!”

(Legendary Fisherman)

(Atk: 1800) VS (Def: 1600)

Sam: “You… did it. My Fisherman's gone.” (Hangs her head low) “There's nothing I can do… just finish me off.”

Alex: “Okay, Sam… it's been great dueling you.”

(Sam nods)

Alex: “Red-Eyes…” (She pauses for a moment) “Attack her life points directly!”

(Atk: 2400)

FINAL SCORE: (Sam: “0000” / Alex: 425)

The images faded, and Sam looked up smiling. “That was an excellent duel, Alex.” She said “Congratulations.”

Alex smiled. “Thank Sammy. You did good too.”

Odion held out his arm and cried out. “The winner of the second duel of the first half of the semi-finals is… Alex!”

And so… another duel was concluded.
