Announcer: Will new students ranked 1-10 please come to the duel floor now.

Jaden: There he is!

A duelist with black hair down to his knees, with a blood red shirt, grey eyes, and blue jeans, standing about 6’ 0”, tall for Japan.

Bastian: *walks up behind them* Who’s that?

Jaden: That’s Thomas Lands, I think he’s from America.

Syrus: Well, that explains the height.

*duel floor*

Thomas: Hey, proctor. Let’s duel.

Proctor: Yes we shall. Your move.

T-4000 P-4000

Thomas: I summon Cyber Transformer*.

Cyber Transformer – LIGHT – Level 5 – Machine/Effect – You may summon this card with no Tributes. – 2100 ATK 1300 DEF

Thomas: I set 2 cards and end my turn.

Proctor: I play 2 cards face down and summon Gear Golem the Moving Fortress (800/2200) in defense mode. Go.

Bastian: Well, It seems that Thomas is dueling well so far.

Jaden: Yeah, let’s just see what happens now.

Thomas: I summon Small Fire Phoenix*.

Small Fire Phoenix – FIRE – Level 4 – Winged Beast/Effect – If this card is in the graveyard, you must pay 750 Life Points (even if you don’t have enough) to Special Summon this card if you are able. When this card is summoned through this effect, add 200 ATK to this card. When destroyed, all ATK and DEF modifiers are kept on this card (even if it returns to the deck).

Bastian: I’ve never seen that card before.

Thomas: Next, I’ll activate Torrential Tribute to destroy all monsters in play. Proctor: You must have something planned. Seven Tools of the Bandit negates it. T-4000 P-3000 Thomas: Good move. But I’ll chain with my own Seven Tools! T-3000 P-3000 Thomas: Now that all monsters are destroyed, I get to revive my Phoenix for 750 Life Points. T-2250 P-3000 Small Fire Phoenix: 2200/0 --> 2400/0 Thomas: Direct Attack! Proctor: Sakeretsu Armor! Thomas: Revival! T-1500 P-3000 Small Fire Phoenix: 2400/0 --> 2600/0 Thomas: Attack again! T-1500 P-0400 Proctor: My move. I play Offerings to the Doomed to destroy your monster again. Jaden: Why’s he doing that? Bastian: I get it. His Phoenix needs 750 points to revive, so he’s actually trying to wipe out Thomas’s Life Points. T-0750 P-0400 Small Fire Phoenix: 2600/0 --> 2800/0 Proctor: I’ll set a monster and end my turn. Thomas: I play Life Charge*. Life Charge – Spell – Multiply both players’ Life Points by 1.1. T-0825 P-0440 Thomas: Now I summon Amazoness Swords Woman (1500/1600). Attack! Proctor: No! My Obnoxious Celtic Guard! Thomas: Phoenix, finish him off! T-0825 P-0000 Thomas: Game Over. I win. Good duel. Syrus: Wow, that was a cool duel. Jaden: I guess we’ll see him at Duel Academy. End of Chapter
