“Bye Mai! Master Dartz wants me off on another trip!” Valon gave Mai a peck on the cheek.

Mai pouted. “You're always gone on the trips! I barely even see you even more!”

“Don't worry mate, I'll be back in 2 days,” Valon lied.

“To do what? Try to get the pharaoh's soul again?” Mai asked.

“Yup, see ya in a bit,” Valon said, turning to the door.

“How come I never get to go on these trips?” Mai stated.

Valon had no answer to this. In truth, Master Dartz wasn't taking him anywhere at all. Valon was going to go visit an old friend of his. An old girlfriend. Mai wouldn't be pleased hearing that, so he decided to lie straight out.

“Hmph. Well see ya hon,” Mai turned back to the TV.

“Bye…” Valon walked out the door.

A week later…

“Hey Mai! I'm home!” Valon said, swinging through the door.

He was greeted by silence.

“Mai?” Valon said, puzzled.

He wandered around until he came to the bathroom. The door was closed and he tried to open it, but it was locked.

“Hey Mai! What's wrong? You wanna talk about it?” Valon asked through the door.

“YOU! Why would I want to talk to YOU?!” Mai shouted back.

“Er, Mai? Is everything all right?” Valon hesitated.

Abruptly, the bathroom door swung open and a tear-streaked Mai faced him.

“All right? ALL RIGHT?! YOU SAID THAT YOU WOULD BE BACK HERE IN 2 DAYS! 2!!! TODAY IS EXACTLY A WEEK LATER!” Mai hollered.

“Mai, chill. It's awright! I'm here now, and that's all that matters right mate?” Valon said, still a bit confused as to why Mai was screaming at him.

“Valon, you are a liar.”

“Aw come on now Mai, don't be like that!” Valon protested.

“Don't be like what? I don't have the right to be upset after you don't come home for a straight week?! Oh, and exactly WHERE did you go again?” Mai hissed.

“Mai, I TOLD you I was visiting an old friend!” Valon said.

“An old friend? Really? I seem to recall that you said Master Dartz was sending you somewhere,” Mai snapped.

Valon realized his mistake too late. “Uh, no? I told you that it was an old friend I was visiting?”

“You are a lying SNAKE! GET OUT!” Mai said, making shooing motions with her hands.

Valon stepped back, still a bit fazed. “Mai, don't yell. Come one! We can still work this out

“No, I don't think so. Good bye Valon.”

With that, Mai pushed Valon to the front hall and proceeded to shut the front door of the couple's apartment and was gone forever from Valon's life.
