Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Aoitsuki Yurai ❯ Shinzui Ookami ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
I finally got off my butt and worked on this thing! This is the newly rewritten chapter of my first and most complex YYH fanfic. I might put up the prologues when this story is done.
Disclaimer: All Yu Yu Hakusho characters and stuff that's from it belong to Yoshihiro Togashi. Shinzui, Toraeru, Tenma, Shoushiko, and other original things belong to me. Sie sind mein! o.O() Um... I mean. They are mine.
A/N: I'm not sure if Yusuke's school is Sarasaki High or Sarayashiki High. I keep seeing different names. If you know which one is correct, please tell me.
READ: Hearts of Ice by Destiny Kurogane. It's an Inuyasha fanfic. I've seen bits and pieces of it and it's gonna be good!

&a mp;nbsp; The quiet, early morning was broken as a loud, blaring voice of a singer woke the dreamer from their comfortable sleep. A slender, yet slightly muscular arm slid out from the depths of a pile of blankets to send the hand on a search for a way to silence the source of the disturbance. It finally succeeded by hitting the snooze button before withdrawing into the folds of the blankets and a form shifted underneath them to fall back into sleep. Five minutes later, the irritating voice was back and the hand came back, only to succeed in knocking the clock off the desk, but fail in turning it off.
"Bloody hell," growled a groggy voice from the mass of blankets, "I hate this song. The singer's voice sounds like a dying donkey."
&a mp;nbsp; The blankets were cast aside as the owner of the hand and arm slowly sat up in the bed. A girl sat there with a bleary look in her bright blue eyes and her long, crimson hair fell to her waist in a tangled mess. She finally silenced the horrible voice with the off button and stumbled out of bed, still sleepy from the short night of dreams. She stretched, raising up on her toes a bit before heading off to the bathroom to seek out a nice shower.
"Shinzui, is that you?" asked a harsh voice, causing Shinzui to stop.
"Yes, dad, it's me," she reluctantly replied, "I'm going to take a shower now, so I can't talk." As she heard footsteps coming up the stairs, she dashed into the bathroom and locked the door.
"Shinzui," said her father in a warning tone, "I need to talk to you about something before you leave."
"Haven't you done enough damage by transferring me to a new school?" snorted Shinzui, discarding her dirty clothes into a basket, "I appreciate the fact that you want to keep me away from Tenma, but you should've talked to me first."
"I'm only thinking about what he'd do to you," said her father in tense tone, "I don't want him hurting you again like he always has."
"Stop while you're ahead, dad," growled Shinzui, glaring at the door, "I know you don't care if he hurts me because you've hurt me before. All you care about is fulfilling your promise to mom..." She went silent and stared at the mirror, running a hand over the two scars that curved along each of her cheek bones.
"Your mother wanted me to make sure no one hurt you," said her father shortly, but there was a tone of sadness mixed in.
"You say that all the time," sighed Shinzui, looking at the strange scars running across the middle of her palms as if something had savagely torn the flesh away from the area, "But you've hurt me many times." She shook her head and turned on the water. "I'm taking my shower now, so go away." Shinzui heard footsteps retreat from the door as she stepped into the warm water and began to scrub her body clean. "Mom, I still don't know what you saw in that guy when you married him."
&a mp;nbsp; Shinzui sang to herself as she rinsed the soap off her skin and started to work on her long hair. Once her shower had finished, she wrapped a towel around her hair and twisted it up to secure around her head. She rubbed lotion on her legs, wrapped a towel around her body, and slipped out of the bathroom to her room. She shut and locked the door before dropping the towel to seek out clean clothes. She located and pulled on some undergarments, then suddenly realized she didn't have her new uniform.
"Damn," she muttered to herself with an exasperated sigh as she shook her head, causing the towel to fall off, "I'll have to wear my old one and bring in a stupid note."
&a mp;nbsp; Shinzui fished out the black and red uniform of her old school and looked at it in disgust. The skirt was knife-pleated, ending a few inches below her knees and the top had long puffy sleeves with a sailor middy collar. The part of the uniform that annoyed her the most were the two bows that were on the front and back of her uniform. This uniform is too similar to the Crossroads High uniform, she thought, tying the bow, Why can't they keep these things simple? The company needs a better designer.
&a mp;nbsp; Shinzui picked up a brush to begin the challenge of taming the mass of tangled strands. After several minutes of brushing and combing she managed to reduce the jungle of tangles into a silky cascade of slightly waved hair. She tied her hair up into a ponytail with a black ribbon and twisted three clumps together to make a smooth braid. Upon finishing the task, she secured the end with a black rubber band and flipped the braid over her shoulder. She tucked a partially bloomed white rose, which had some blue on the bottom half of the petals, in her hair bow, so it was barely visible then looked at her reflection with satisfaction.
"Shinzui!" yelled her father's voice from downstairs, "Hurry up!"
"I'm coming!" she answered with a shout, "Sheesh." She pulled on some socks and slipped her feet into some slippers before grabbing her bag and running downstairs.
"Amazing transformation," said her father as she clattered down the steps, "From a bed head, to a fine looking woman."
"Your unusual amount of flattery is making me sick, dad," said Shinzui, sending a cold gaze at a man with short, finely combed, dark hair, "What are you up to now?" She could see a flash of contempt and annoyance in the man's dark gray eyes as she said these words.
"Am I not allowed to flatter my precious daughter every once in a while?" he asked, giving her an odd smile.
"Save it for when you become an actor, dad," snorted Shinzui, sitting down to eat her breakfast, "I've seen this act before, something's up and I want to know what you're plotting."
"Nothing," said her father, loftily and he paused a bit before continuing, "You know that rose you..."
Shinzui choked on her juice at these words. "Forget it!" She quickly finishing her food and stood up, "I'm not letting you get your hands on it! It's barely bloomed and I know your scientist friends are very curious as to how it still lives outside of a pot and dirt." She snatched up her bag and turned to walk towards the door when her father grabbed her arm.
"They just want a small look at it," he said, smiling strangely, "If you'd just lend it to me for the day, I'll give it back to you tonight."
"In your dreams, old man," snorted Shinzui, pulling her arm away, "You'd make them kill it for good after they studied it! Bye." She walked to the door and sat down to switch from her slippers to her black shoes. "See you later." She turned to glare at her father. "I'll say this again since you didn't get the message last week. Don't you dare send one of your lackeys to drag me home after school!" She stood up, pulled the door open, and left with a huff, slamming the door behind her.
"She really doesn't like you, Shoushiko," said a young man, walking out from a different room and looking at Shinzui's father.
&a mp;nbsp; The young man had long dark brown hair that was tied back in a loose ponytail, which fell to the end of his shoulder blades. His eyes were like dark sapphires and he looked a few years older than Shinzui. He was dressed in a black uniform with a white shirt and dark blue tie. Shinzui's father looked at him before sitting down at the table and gesturing for the young man to sit.
"Let's talk about what I called you here for, Toraeru, " said Shoushiko as the young man sat down.
"Yes, let's," said Toraeru, smirking a bit, "I'm very curious."
&a mp;nbsp; As the two men started their discussion, Shinzui was wandering down a sidewalk in the direction of her new school, looking bored with her eyes cast to the dull sky. I wonder what Sarayashiki High is like, she thought with a sigh, I hope my new classmates aren't a bunch of idiotic monkeys. One good thing about transferring schools is that I can finally get away from Tenma. Her musings were interrupted when she ran into a door that had just been opened in front of her. Dazed, Shinzui fell backwards on to the ground, twitching a bit and her bag landed next to her with a dull thud.
"What was that?" she heard a masculine voice say from the doorway.
&a mp;nbsp; Shinzui sat up a bit, rubbing her face, and looked up to see a pair of brown eyes peering at her from the door. The eyes belonged to a girl wearing a blue and yellow school uniform that looked very familiar. Shinzui looked around for her bag and upon locating it, grabbed the handle before standing up. She brushed herself off and flipped her braid behind her shoulder.
"I'm sorry," said the girl, pushing some short brown hair behind her ear," I didn't know anyone was there."
"That's ok," answered Shinzui, I don't want to make a scene this early in the morning, she thought silently as she looked at the girl, aloud she said, "Your uniform looks familiar. What school do you go to?"
"Sarayashiki High School," replied the girl, smiling at her, "I'm Keiko Yukimora." She held out a hand to Shinzui.
Well, here's one person who I may like, thought Shinzui, looking at the girl's hand before shaking it, saying aloud, "I'm Shinzui Ookami. Nice to meet you." She smiled, but it was quickly wiped off her face when she felt her skirt get lifted up a bit. With a shriek, Shinzui whirled around hitting someone in the head with her school bag and Keiko let out an angry shout.
"Yusuke Urameshi!" The girl glared at the person who Shinzui had hit with her bag, "Explain yourself!"
&a mp;nbsp; Shinzui looked down at her school bag victim and saw that it was just a teenage boy wearing a green school uniform. His jet black hair was slicked back and his dark brown eyes were looking up at Shinzui with surprise as he rubbed his head. He laughed and got up, brushing off his clothes as Shinzui blinked and took a step back as he took a closer look at her face.
"Nice reflexes," Yusuke said, chuckling, "But that doesn't compare with Keiko's speed when I flip her skirt." This comment was rewarded with a glare from Keiko and Yusuke took a step back, holding his hands up defensively. "I meant no harm, Keiko, you know that." A strange scent caught his attention and he looked at Shinzui a bit. Is that a rose I smell? he thought, looking at the red-haired girl, It's coming from her. Weird.
This boy is quite strange, though Shinzui, staring at him, He has a gangster look, but he's afraid of Keiko. Aloud she found herself saying, "Do you also go to Sarayashiki High School?"
"Whenever I feel like it," answered Yusuke, shrugging, but at a glare from Keiko he quickly added, "Which is almost every day now."
"Where do you go to school?" asked Keiko, looking at Shinzui's uniform, "I don't recognize your uniform."
"I used to go to a school further away from here," answered Shinzui, "But I transferred to Sarayashiki High and they have yet to send me my new uniform." She rolled her eyes at the sky and sighed in exaspiration. "I swear that uniform store is run by monkeys."
"I bet it is," laughed Yusuke, walking over to Keiko, but as he did, the top of the partially bloomed rose in Shinzui's bow caught his eye. So that's where the rose scent is coming from, he thought, blinking a bit.
"Do you know where the school is?" asked Keiko with a friendly smile, "Because you could walk there with us if you don't."
"I know the way," answered Shinzui, smiling a bit, "But walking there with someone might be nice." Besides, she thought to herself, If I run into Tenma on the way, I won't be alone. No doubt he'll notice that I won't be at that school anymore.
"Well," said Yusuke, walking down the sidewalk with Keiko, "Let's go."
"Alright," said Shinzui, following Yusuke and Keiko in the direction of the school. The whole way she answered most of their questions and asked some of her own, realizing that the new school was just the beginning of the already exasperating day.
