He's asleep,
but anxiety shows on his face.
Why is he troubled so?
I embrace him,
he grows less stiff.
Whatever he did, wherever,
it has worn him.
Where does he go for so long?
Never does he answer me directly,
hoping the subject will drop.
What does he hide from me?
He seems at rest by day,
to the eye not trained to perceive.
But I know better,
he worries, is afraid.
Who is scaring him so?
I ask him with my eyes,
but his give no answer.
When did it happen that he could no longer speak to me?
Silently, he begs my trust,
which I give, no matter how I seek to know.
But my heart fears.
How long does he have to reply?
