I actually had to read this one through a couple of times to pick out the technical problems with the story. This tale is chilling, gripping, and difficult to draw away from, much like the "Him" the narrator refers to in the story. As both an artist and writer, I had an immediate sense of familiarity with online community scenes such as the narrator speaks of, and the eerie similarity to reality heightens the feel of this story. The only real structural problems this story has are comma use (or rather, lack thereof this time) and some shadows of the tense-switching habit that Fanilia had in Spirit Seeker. Other grammar problems were isolated and did not really detract at all from the quality of writing. Were the fictions of those literary minds; greats of their times, dealing with a single subject-the darkness of men's fear-really fictitious? The semi-colon here is out of place; since the first part of that sentence cannot stand alone, and the second part is broken by dashes, it doesn't work. This would be better broken down in to a more complex but more cohesive structure: "Were the fictions of those literary minds - greats of their times, dealing with a single subject: the darkness of men's fear - really fictitious?" This separates the description of those literary minds from the rest of the sentence: "Were the fictions of those literary minds really fictitious?" Wow fan, this was just fantastic...I was so drawn into this tale that I felt the fear of the author. You write really well. While this is the first of your writings I've read, it will not be the last. You have an awesome gift. Thank you for sharing.

Now that's scary. That scared the living ghost outta me, and outta my shoes and outta my socks. That's got me running to grab my blankie...not like I have one... but if I did I would get it and hide under it in a fetal position telling myself that it isn't real--its that scary. Seriously, I hope you write a whole lot more like these. Peace!

You already know what I think of this piece. It's very scary in more or less the same way Lovecraft is scary: one very small thing is wrong, but that one thing is enough to bring someone's world down.

Sitting here trying to find adequate words to describe this oneshot is difficult. It's very powerful, very moving, and very beautiful in its dark feel. The evocative feel is absolutely wonderful; I truly enjoyed this 'dream'! Brilliantly done! Thanks for sharing it with us!

OMG that was scary. Not in an actual movielike scary, but one that would haunt you just because you feel what the author is supposidly going through. The kind of thing that would scare the hell out of you just by your our immagination. Very good. Very scary. Haunting...

There are fanfics that make you think, that haunt you, and make you go "Whoa!" This does all three. Great job.

I dont think i like horror fiction anymore, way to scary. But it was really well written, scared the shit out of me. I swear now if anyone tell me Sweet Dreams, i will scream. I am not going to be able to sleep today until at least 4. I am not going to be able to click on a link now without fearing for my sanity. I know im not much of a reviewer- but just wanted to say that i really enjoyed your fic even if now i am scarred. Though thanks for the scare!

Woah, sweet. Finally, someone's written a good Lovecraft reference! Although a few of his works have been drawn upon so heavily that they don't have much to them anymore (like The Stranger, I think it was), a few are still awesomely powerful (The Rats in the Walls, for example, or The Color Out Of Space). As for this interpretation, I like the modernized spin you put on it. There WERE a few places, though, where I think you got a little caught up in the Lovecraft-y language and got carried away with the musings. There's one line... "One night he grew particularly quiet, if quiet is a term applied to written text transferred from one cold machine to another" line, for example, where a good two thirds of it, to ME at least, distracts more than it adds. There's a few other places where the same thing happens. Hmm... other than that, I kinda like how it turned into a social commentary for a bit--although I thought it maybe dragged out a bit too long--and the ending was good. Almost like the ending of The Rats in the Walls, one of my all-time favorites. I think you've got a GREAT start toward Lovecraft's style, although you might want to let go of some of the details. The greatness of Lovecraft was that he let the reader fill in the terrible sights with his or her own shadows, as it were. All in all, it's really good! And I'm glad to see someone else is a raving Lovecraft fan! Keep up the good work!

This is a very fun read - thrilling and exciting all the way through. No gripes on the spelling & grammar (wonder why ~_^) and I totally enjoy the classic style of writing you have. Kudos on a top-rate original short story! :D
