Biography:Hello there! (To everyone and anyone who might care) My name is Leslie and I'm originally from Oklahoma and Texas, but I'm currently living it up in beautiful San Diego, California. I'm a temporarily retired student, since after two years at the University of Oklahoma I still didn't know what the hell I wanted to do with my life, and currently financial problems are preventing me from returning.

In the meantime, I support myself through...dun dun dun... RESTAURANT work! I swear, working in a restaurant is like the freaking scarlet letter, because I worked for three years at a barbeque joint in Shawnee, and once I came to California, couldn't get a job in any other field! But that's okay, because I just started at the wonderful Daisy's Cafe at Viejas Casino in Alpine, CA, and it's a very nice place to work, it seems. The only downside is that it's graveyard shift... Ack, the real world sucks! If you haven't graduated high school yet, I advise that you flunk intentionally in order to prolong the moment when you have to enter the REAL WORLD. Just kidding, your education is the key to your future.

So anyway, I'm assuming that you clicked on my profile because you want to know a little about me (sorry if that's too presumptuous. If I'm wrong, feel free to ignore this stuff). I started writing when I was a teenager (yeah, I'm old now - 24), but got really into manga and anime around age 18. I've spent entirely too much money on the stuff, and have spent the last five years or so lurking around mediaminer.org and ff.net. So now, I've decided to try my hand at writing fanfiction! All I can say about that is that I hope I don't disappoint, because in reality I'm rather insecure about my writing, and this is the first time I've ever shared ANYTHING with the world. Please don't judge me too harshly :)

So, interests:

Manga/Anime:

Bleach (my current fixation) - I'm a diehard fan of Ichigo/Rukia pairings, though I'm also fond of Hitsugaya/Hinamori and Gin/Rangiku. I have absolutely no sympathy for Inoue or any fans of hers. I really tried to like her. She's got a sweet personality, and I respect that she wants to get stronger, but those things are completely negated by her utter uselessness and seeming apathy. And honestly, I won't sugarcoat it, she is an obstacle for me as an IchiRuki shipper.

Inuyasha - spent years following this one, but eventually my manga-buying came to an end when the real world asserted itself again. I tried to keep up online, but in the end, I wound up cheating a couple of weeks ago to see "how it ends." I was not disappointed. I'm an Inu/Kag and Mir/San person, though the occasional Sess/(older)Rin is also entertaining. Kikyo is an evil bitch, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise. She literally makes my stomach curl.

Rurouni Kenshin - this is another that I spent quite a bit of time obsessed with. Kenshin/Kaoru and Aoshi/Misao are my top choices in this series, but the occasional Sano/? is always interesting, and there was an excellent fic by gretel_chan at AFF called "Scratching the Itch" that detailed Kaoru's escapades with Saito.

Those are my major fandoms within the manga/anime category, but I'm also a huge fan of anything by Yuu Watase, CLAMP, or Ken Akamatsu, several of Rumiko Takahashi's other works, and have, in recent years, obsessed over such titles as Full Metal Panic, Bastard, High School Girls, and Tramps Like Us. Oh, and Fruits Basket. Can't forget that.

Video Games:

Final Fantasy VII - my one true pairing in this is Cloud/Tifa. Aeris was cool and all, but I seriously had to play the game through twice before I "got" that Cloud was supposed to be into her. I also like Reno/Anyone, but particularly like Reno/Yuffie.

Final Fantasy VIII - obviously Rinoa/Squall

Final Fantasy X/X-2 - Tidus/Yuna is kind of a given, but I can't really get into fics about them. I much prefer Gippal/Rikku (I really tend to go fangirl over this pairing), and every once in a while Auron/Rikku. It's a little weird, but still quite good ;) Before X-2, basically throughout X, I kind of leaned toward Wakka/Rikku, but the whole Lulu and baby thing made that kind of weird for me :0

Final Fantasy XII - I'm Balthier/Penelo all the way. It's just the only pairing that feels "right" for me.

Music:

My penname is pretty much my philosophy in life. I really don't know what I'd do if I didn't have music. I definitely lean more toward angry/angsty music, and my favorite bands are Korn, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Sevendust, System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine, Disturbed, etc., etc. My theme song for the week is "Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit. I also enjoy classic and alternative rock. However, perhaps due to my extended time in Oklahoma, I'm starting to kind of like country. I have a Rodney Atkins fixation at the moment, but I also like Garth Brooks and Rascal Flatts. Erm, rap is a little iffy with me, but I like the songs from my adolescence that are, for me, nostalgic, like "Ms. Jackson" by Outkast, several Ludacris numbers, a bit of Nelly, you get the idea. I'm also partial to Eminem, for the simple reason that he's different from everyone else and I can kind of relate to his songs. Oh, and I'm a choir geek. Spent all of my academic life performing in choirs. Yeah.

Books:

I'll read anything. Really. But my current favorites are Anne Rice, Stephen King, Tolkien (duh), Amy Tan, and J.K. Rowling. Oh, and my guilty pleasure is Star Wars. I'm a Jaina/Kyp shipper in that genre. And on the Harry Potter front, I'm proud to say that I've gotten my copy of whichever new release at midnight, ever since Goblet of Fire. There's nothing like the atmosphere provided by rabid literary fans. And OMG, the 7th book! That's all I can say without resorting to gobbledegook. Yeah, I'm still hyperventilating over it, even a year after its release :)

TV/Movies:

I honestly don't watch much TV anymore, although when I do, it's usually Law and Order SVU. For a while I was addicted, I'm not gonna lie. Star Wars and Indiana Jones are a pretty big deal to me, as I've been collecting memorabilia (mostly Star Wars) since I was twelve. I like pretty much any movie that's been adapted from a novel, whether it was a success or a travesty. When they're made well, I can gush over the similarities and how wonderful it was to see it brought to life, and when they're awful, I just totally MST them (cough...Eragon).

So yeah, that was probably far more than anyone ever wanted to know about me, but there it is, nonetheless. Oh, and if anyone has any good stories to recommend in any of the pairings I mentioned, I'm looking for some new reads :)
