When Asumi Kamogowa was a baby, a rocket launch went terribly wrong. The spaceship crashed into her town, leaving her mother in a coma. When her mother finally died five years later, Asumi has to come to terms with both her mother\'s death and her place in the world. Luckily she meets the ghost, Lion-san, who not only helps her deal with her mother\'s death but also with her goal in life. At the age of six, Asumi declares fervently \"I\'m going to be a rocket pilot!\" The story is told in both Flashback to Lion-san\'s past and Asumi\'s Childhood as well as ten years later when Asumi is pursuing her goal by enrolling in the Japanese Space Institute\'s Astronaut Program. There she encounters her childhood friend, Shinnosuke Fuuchya, the mysterious and wealthy, Marika Ukita, the lound and boisterous, Kei Oumi, and the sleepy yet oddly perceptive, Shuu Suzuki.
