Tiger

I gave this image (printed out as a 18 x 24 and framed) to my soon to be daughter-in-law Ashly for Christmas 06′. She loves all things tiger and even traveled one summer with the carnival taking care of a pair of tiger cubs. It was a work in the making for well over 6 months. It took a lot of exterminating to get the fur, tree and background the way I wanted them. The picture reference I used for the line art and general composition of the piece was taken at the Toronto zoo by The site’s webmaster Prottoss (root-oms if your a forum member). Among his many talents is a great eye for photography. I really wanted to get more detailed with the fur, but after several aborted tries at giving it a more hair like appearance I decided to use a blending style instead. In the end I liked the way the tiger turned out and the way the background blended. Photo Shop CS~Fanilia
