Concubines
When Kaoru woke up the next morning, she found herself all alone. She looked around at her surroundings. The room looked like an old attic in an old American townhouse. The naked walls were a reddish dry oak. An old burnt red velvet carpet covered the dry hickory floor from end to end. The futon was coated in lightly-ash colored sheets and felt warm as human flesh. The light from the small window over her lovely head was pretty dim due to the opaque covering on the panes. The smell of burning incense nearly made the vessel's eyes water badly and throat slowly close up. The scent was so strong that she had to lie back down again for relief. The ceiling above her looked as if it could give way and fall upon her at any second. Kaoru felt her small body break out into a cold sweat. She grasped onto the warm sheets under her. The poor vessel could feel her heart beating all the way up to her ear drums. Where was Aka-Kenshin? She felt so lost without him. His absence was the main reason that got her captured by the Rat Pack in the first place. She wanted to get up and look for him again but was too weak to even get out of bed to do so.
“Wh-Where am I?” Kaoru asked aloud. “In our inn.” a voice answered. The vessel rose up from her futon startled. A kindly old lady stood in the far doorway. Her soft wrinkly old hands clasped onto the cold silver tray that her guest's breakfast was sitting on. Her grayish-white hair was neatly put back into a bun. The laugh lines around her mouth made her face even softer. Her burnt red raggedy dress and dark blue shawl was clearly worn with love. Kaoru began to relax again by the mere sight of her. The old woman smiled sweetly. “I see you are awake.” she said calmly. Kaoru looked around again nervously. “Who are you? Where's Aka-Kenshin?” the vessel asked in worry. The old woman just began lightly trying to get her guest to calm down. “He dropped you off here last night.” she said. “He said he'll come by later to check on you and your stay will be covered under his tab. He as told me to tell you not to leave or look him under any circumstances what so ever.” Kaoru sat there in her futon in silence. So, Aka-Kenshin hadn't abandoned her after all. That fact made her feel a great deal of relief. In fact, she felt something else, hunger. The old inn keeper was happy to supply her with the tray breakfast.
“For years, this has been a peaceful village.” the old woman told her young guest as she ate her breakfast quietly. The old woman sat on her knees on the soft warm futon. “The people here are really friend and greet strangers with open arms.” she went on. “We are in great debt to your friend. Nobody knew where he came from or who he was. My older sister found him floating on his back near death in the river. She brought him here to this inn and my family and I took great care of him. Your friend never really said much to us or told us anything about himself. He would go out to the fields for hours at a time and never really return until nightfall. But he has done so much for us. Our village is a much better place because of him. He is our personal saint.” The inn keeper paused to remember the days when the semi-angel took residence in the village. Kaoru sat there is silent shock. Aka-Kenshin, a saint? But what Doc said and the way Aka-Kenshin fought…. How can he be a saint as well? There was no end to the depths of her lovely angel. The old woman rose to her feet around. “Well,” she said cheerfully. “I've got other guests to attend to. If you need anything else, just let me know, alright.” Kaoru nodded silently. “Okay.” she said at last. The inn keeper smiled again. “I'll see you late.” she said. Then, the old woman closed the door behind her.
A white raven that was sitting at the windowsill flew away quickly. The bird flew straight back to Heaven. Gabriel sat by the gates waiting. When he saw the raven, he smiled. “Good!” he thought to himself. The angel rose to his feet and held out his strong hand. The white raven landed on the powerful fingers. “Did you find her?” the angel asked the bird. The raven flew up into a large air circle. Gabriel grinned at the results. “Perfect! We've got her!” he said at last. Then he took to the gates, opened them with his card, and walked inside Heaven. The white raven flew in after him.
Gabriel made it straight to Kami's office. Kami was reviewing cases of the dead. Gabriel rang the golden bell above him. Kami looked up from his work at the archangel. He rolled his eyes in annoyance. “What is it now?” he asked in boredom. Gabriel smiled widely. “You are going to love this!” he said proudly. The white raven flew forward into a large circle as before. Kami saw the results and was pleased. He instantly rose to his feet. “Call for Boss right away!” he exclaimed. Gabriel looked a little worried. “Are you sure that's a great idea?” he asked with a pale face. Both could not forget the last time they sent Boss out on a mission. He took his concubines out with the arrest an escaped demon from Ronahon and take him back to prison. Well to make a long story short, the criminal ended up pushing the daises too early due to the massive overkill produced by the lovely luscious angel concubines and Boss took no attack to stop them. As a result, Boss was suspended from active duty for ten years and the concubines that were responsible for the killing were thrown out of Heaven for good. Kami just smiled. “Don't worry Gabriel,” he replied. “We'll keep a closer watch over them this time!” “Okay…” Gabriel said nervously. Then he headed out to go fetch Boss.
Gabriel came to Boss' house in the Perfumed Lotus quarters. The big pearl white house still looked dark despite it being morning in the Living Realm. Gabriel drew in a deep breath, used his card to unlock the door, and let himself in the rich house. Inside was dark and quiet like a morgue. An icy feeling came of the archangel really fast. That only meant one thing. Gabriel tightened up and processed up the golden stairs. He found Boss in the bedroom. The man was asleep with two of his concubines on either side of him. The archangel shook his head in disgust. There was only one way to wake this big oaf up. Gabriel picked up his bronze horn and blew violently into it. The loud blast awoke Boss and his concubines really quickly. The fighter angel sat up lighting fast. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!?” he yelled aloud. He looked and saw Gabriel standing before him. “Oh, it's you.” he said flatly. “What do you want now?” Gabriel drew in a deep breath and said, “Kami has a hunt mission for you!” “And…” Boss said in a dry voice. The archangel shuffled his feet a bit. “Kami wants you to take away Kamiya Kaoru away from Aka-Kenshin before she destroys the balance of Heaven and Hell.” he went on. Those little words made Boss' eyes lit up in joy. He hated Aka-Kenshin with a passion and longed for the day to stab that bastard in the chest and live to tell about. Boss leapt out of bed and began to get dressed. The concubines watched in confused. Their master turned to them with a huge grin. “What are you waiting for girls?” he called aloud. “We've got work to do!” The concubines became excited. “YAY!!!” they called aloud. And with that, the girls got up and got dressed as well. Gabriel sighed in distress. “Suddenly, I have a bad feeling about this!” he thought with a sick feeling in his sick.
Within minutes, Boss and three of his trusted concubines were at the entry of the remote village. Boss was in a great mood this morning. After a great wild night with his ladies, a good hunt and recover would be the perfect way to start the day! “YES! Let's get to work ladies!” he called out. “YEAH!!!” the concubines screamed out. Then they hung onto to their master as he cranked up his motorcycle and rode into the city hard and fierce. The thrill for speed was high and might for all of them! The quartet came to the inn that Kaoru was staying in. Boss turned to his ladies “Ready to start the mission?” Boss asked sweetly. “Yes master!” the concubines exclaimed. Then, the girls leapt off of the motorcycle and walked into the inn normally. The girls made themselves look like normal travelers. Boss followed behind them causally. He made his way to the desk. The clerk at the desk turned to them smiling. “Welcome to Sparrow Falls!” he boomed aloud. “Are you staying for the day?” “No, not really.” Boss answered. “I just want to know how to get to Kobe from here.” The clerk's face lit up. “Certainly.” he said with pride. As the men talked merrily, the concubines snuck past the maids to the upstairs rooms.
They found Kaoru lying on her bed waiting for Aka-Kenshin to return. She just had to see him again. She just had to! Suddenly, there came a knock on her door. The vessel grew excited fast. “He's here!” she thought in bliss. The vessel quickly leapt off of the bed and rushed straight to the door. She opened it… only to find three ladies staring coldly at her. Kaoru instantly became nervous. She began backing away slowly. The head concubine smirked wickedly. “Aw, don't worry dear.” she cooed. “We don't want to hurt you. Just come with us and everyone will be spared.” “No, never!” Kaoru screamed out. She continued backing away. The head concubine became annoyed. “If you do not come with us, we will have to take you by force!” she ordered in a cold voice. “Get away from me!” the vessel screamed out. Then she forced open the window and jumped right out of it. The concubines rushed to the window in a hurry. They watched her run away as fast as she could. “This is not good.” one of the young angel sisters said. “Well, after her!” the head one yelled. “Right!” the other two called. Then the three concubines flew right after her.
The concubines chased Kaoru all the way to the fields. The head concubines had the vessel tightly in her arms when they heard someone bark, “Unhand my tart now, you bitch!” All of the tarts looked up to see Aka-Kenshin himself. He was pissed when he didn't find Kaoru in the room like he had told her. When he saw the mess in the place, he instantly put all of the pieces together in his head and followed the wisteria scent he had picked up from the sheets and her hair ribbon caught in the window out here. The semi-fallen angel looked around at the lovely display of tarts. He just couldn't help but laugh. “Well, well, well.” he called aloud. “Never really expected him to by back at work so soon! Heaven must really be kissing his ass!” This of course angered the concubines. How dare some lowly semi angel talk trash about their sexy beloved master! This bastard new must pay!!!
The concubines charged forward in a blazing rage. Aka-Kenshin just snickered to himself. “This will be too easy!” he thought to himself in sharp pride. The semi angel drew in a deep breath blew out fire. The concubines tried to fly away but it was too late. They were burned alive in the flame. Kaoru just sat there stunned. Aka-Kenshin sank to his knees in weakness. Right then, he a problem. No matter where they went, Kaoru would be hunted down by both Heaven and Hell. She might as well just go home. And right away, the semi angel made up his mind.
“Kaoru!” Aka-Kenshin called out. The vessel looked up in silence. “Go home!” the semi angel barked. Worry came over the girl's face. “No!” she cried out. “I won't leave you!” Aka-Kenshin rose to his feet in anger. “Don't you want to be hunted down again or even killed!!!” he argued back. “But I want to stay with you!” his vessel cried out. The semi angel became annoyed. “God I hate when this happens!” he thought. “Look,” he began again. “I'll see come and see you, all right?” Kaoru walked over to him. “You promise?” she asked softly. The semi angel sighed as he rolled his eyes. “I really hate this!” Aka-Kenshin thought. “Yes!” he said at last. “I promise!” Kaoru was overjoyed. “Thanks Kenshin-sama!” she called out. Then she hugged him tightly but the semi angel pushed her away. “Don't touch me!” he snapped. “I'm still trying to recover!” “Sorry Kenshin-sama.” Kaoru said softly as she snapped back.
Meanwhile in Heaven, Boss was making his report of the day. The results were pretty grim. “She has grown attached to this monster!” Gabriel called out. All of the other angels in the court were whispering in worry. Kami brought down his gavel hard. All became quiet. “So what shall we do?” Gabriel asked at last. Kami rose to his feet. “If she doesn't come quietly!” he ordered. “Then she must die!” Everyone in the court agreed and Boss was thrilled. Thus the beginning of a brutal hunt of blood, desire, and lust.
