Chapter Twenty:
oo0O0oo

Tao sat down in his London hotel suite's bed and sighed. His father NEVER hugged him like that unless it was something drastic. Like…something that had to do with his mother.
She'd left early that morning, and hadn't said goodbye or anything. She'd just left a note that said, "I Love you Tao and I'll see you when you get home." He knew that it had something to do with his mother, because his uncle had mentioned that his father had found out about the pregnancy last night.
That wasn't suppose to happen. At least not for a while, it wasn't.
He grimaced and let out a growl when his uncle let out a loud snore. His father had made an excuse of receiving a call that he was needed back home in Japan at the company.
But he knew better. It was about his father and mother…and their marriage. He wasn't stupid. He could smell the anxiety flowing from his father that morning, the day they'd left for London.
He'd also caught a glimpse of his mother's wedding rings on a necklace around his father's neck.
If that didn't give anything away…then he didn't know what did.
It was saddening…to realize that his efforts to get them back together had been in vain. But…then he had to realize that…he hadn't really DONE anything in the first place…just getting his father jealous…and a few other lame things.
Shaking his head, he stood up and ventured over to the window. Downtown London was brightly lit…but it wasn't like Tokyo. It was too dull. He'd wanted to go home. This was supposed to be a "Father-son bonding trip"…but how can he do that when his father's Japan and he's here with his lazy ramen-loving uncle?
Biting his lip, he came to a final conclusion and turned around. Picking up his bag, he quietly left room and his snoring uncle. He'd call a cab and make his way to the airport. Then it was home to Japan.
There…he'd bring "Operation: Recharge" back into function…and he'd work a lot harder that he'd had before.

Sesshoumaru opened his eyes and looked at the men around him, seated at the long table. He was in the middle of a conference and wasn't paying attention in the least. His mind was on…other things.
"…and I propose that we take the smaller branches and fuse them with the larger ones, creating a stronger…" The person at the head of the room droned.
Honestly…he didn't care at all what happened to the small chains of his and the other men's companies.
He just wanted to get out of there…and fast.
As if someone was listening the conference room door opened and his secretary, Rin Takeda stepped in and bowed bashfully before speaking.
"Excuse my interruption…but Kagiyama-san? Your son is on line 4." She said.
Sesshoumaru's eyebrows rose so high that they disappeared beneath his bangs. The other men around the table were looking at him expectantly. Sighing, he looked back at the blushing Rin and spoke in an even tone.
"Tell him that I will talk to him later."
"Uh…h-he says that it's important, sir." Rin said, stuttering slight and flushing deeper.
Sighing again, he sat up in his seat and removed his glasses; pinching the bridge of his nose.
"What is that he wants Rin?"
"H-he says that he's at the International Airport and needs a ride home." Rin answered, shifting on her feet.
Sesshoumaru stopped his pinching and looked up in surprise and confusion at the woman in the doorway. Keeping his stoic facade, he pushed back in his revolving chair and bowed to the men at the table. "Please, if you'll excuse me. I must speak with my son."
The men nodded and began speaking quietly with one another, as he left the room, following after Rin. He took Rin's phone and leaned against her desk. Pushing the 'Line 4' button, he waiting until it connected before speaking.
"Tao. You had better explain yourself." He spoke.
"Eh…heh…Well you see father. I…look. I can't really spend a "father-son" trip in Europe with my uncle, now can I? Kind of defeats the purpose of "father-son" bonding." Tao sighed, glaring at a grumpy flight attendant who shoved past him without a care.
"Dammit…Tao. I am in the middle of a conference. Can't you call your mother?" He asked.
"I don't want to right now. Look…I know about her leaving her rings with you…and I'm not exactly in high spirits in wanting to see her right now." He admitted.
Sesshoumaru sighed once again, and rubbed his eyes. "I will be there in a few minutes. Be out front and ready when I get there."
"All right. Good-bye father." Tao said, hanging up Rin's phone.
Dammit…how did Tao find out? He cursed himself, walking into his office and throwing his suit trench jacket on. Climbing into his BMW, he peeled out from the parking ramps and was on his way to the airport. All the while, his mind continued to swirl around, twisting his thoughts. Did Tao know about the pregnancy? How did he know about the rings?
Shaking his head, he was just pulling into the airport when his cellphone rang.
"Yes?" He said.
"Sesshou-baby! Why didn't you tell me that you were back in Japan?" Came Kagura's excited and fake hurting voice.
"I don't wish to speak with you right now." He admitted, flipping his phone shut when he saw Tao walking out with his duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
Tossing his phone into the back seat, he placed the car in park and popped the trunk for his son's bag.
"Why're you here? And by yourself?" He already interrogating Tao when the boy wasn't even in the car yet.
"I didn't want to be in Europe any longer. It was supposed to be a trip for you and I, but you decided to run off without me." Tao snapped.
"Don't use that tone of voice with me." He growled, stepping on the gas.
"Sorry…it was a long flight." Tao sighed, closing his eyes and leaning his head against the window. "I'm sorry if I worried you…"
"You did not. I am more worried about Inuyasha fending for himself in a different country." He said.
Tao laughed and fell into a light doze.
"Tao?" Sesshoumaru asked after a few minutes of driving.
"Hmm?" The boy mumbled.
"Did you know of your mother's pregnancy?"
"Of course I did. I've been living with her for the past 4 months haven't I?" Tao shrugged, opening and closing his sleepy eyes. "I…she didn't want me to tell you…about it."
'Why?' Sesshoumaru wondered, his demon growing ever more so frustrated.
"I have to return the office for a conference meeting. Will you be fine with that?" He asked, turning back into his company's parking ramps.
"Sure…I can sleep on the couch in your office." Tao mumbled, unbuckling himself and climbing out.

Kagome sighed and flopped down onto the couch in her warehouse's sitting room. She'd just a new design for an outfit and had accomplished, without the help of Sango, getting it onto a mannequin. It was a cute sundress with a brown haltered bodice and a light green dress that went to the mid-thigh.
It was a simple design and boy, was she glad that she'd gotten it done. Her back was beginning to kill her! The baby was shifting frantically in her belly everyday and was pushing pressure onto her spine. Tao had never been this feisty before and was slightly annoyed with it.
Sighing once again, she grinned when she remembered the frantic call she'd received from Sango earlier that morning. As she predicted, Sango was calling because she freaking out over the fact that she married, eloped, with a guy she'd only met a couple days prior in France.
Silly Sango.
She could only laugh at her friend and ask her jokingly when the baby was coming. Sango of course… knew she wasn't pregnant and huffed before hanging up on her ex-boss.
Placing a hand onto her swollen belly she couldn't help but fell anxiety seep into her mind. What if she wasn't able to take care of herself…Tao…or the baby? What if Tao hated her for doing this to him? She couldn't bear to think about that right now. Not when she was still trying to get by the fact that she'd received the divorce documents yesterday.
What was she going to do? Was this really something she should've done? Tao will get over it…right? Oh…she didn't know…and she was giving herself a headache just thinking about it all.
She was just about to slip off into a deep sleep when her office phone rang and she jumped about 40 feet in the air. After finally catching her breath, she hurried into her room and picked up the phone.
"Hello? This is Kagome Kagi---"
"KAGOME! I'VE LOST HIM!" Came Inuyasha's anguish cry.
"OUCH!" She yelped, yanking the phone away from her ear. "Inuyasha! Calm down! What's going on?"
"How can you ask me to calm down when I've lost your kid in London, of all places?" Inuyasha bellowed, no doubt ripping his hair out as they spoke.
"Wait…you lost Tao? Where's Sesshoumaru? He's suppose to be on vacation with his father." Kagome asked, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
"Yes…I know! But Sesshoumaru got a call last night from the office saying that there was a conference meeting back home and that Tao and I could continue with the vacation." Inuyasha explained, panting heavily.
Kagome sighed and waited for a moment to gather her wits.
"Where was the last place you saw him?" She asked, sitting back in her swivel chair.
"At the hotel. He wasn't there when I woke up in this morning." He said.
Kagome sighed again. "All right. Just keep looking wherever you think he might go. I'll make a couple phone calls, all right?"
"Okay…oh damn…" He trailed off before hanging up the phone.
Kagome hung up as well and immediately stood up and left her office.
"Tachibana! Can you please take over for me while I head out?" She asked a middle-aged director standing near some models. He nodded and bowed before turning back to the shoot.
Kagome walked out and climbed into her car and was on her way to the familiar skyscraper in the vista of downtown Tokyo in the distance.

Sesshoumaru was just about finished with his conference when the room's door burst open and an angry Kagome stood within its frame.
The men around the table all stopped talking and turned to look at the radiant woman….the radiant 'pregnant' woman standing in the door.
"Where is he? Where's Tao?" She asked, clutching the doorknob tightly.
Sesshoumaru quirked an eyebrow and nodded for her to meet him in the hallway. "Excuse me once again gentlemen. I have to discuss something with my wife."
As he followed Kagome down to his office, he couldn't help but feel guilty for whatever reason. She looked…well rested. Something he was lacking in.
He took his card key out and swiped it through the automatic lock and opened his office door. He held it open for her, and she entered; going directly to the figure laying on the leather couch.
"Why'd you leave him in London with Inuyasha?" She hissed, standing up straight again.
"I needed to get back here for an urgent conference call." He stated sitting down in his swivel chair.
"Inuyasha just called. He was yelling and going crazy, saying he lost Tao somewhere in London." She sighed, sitting on a chair across from her husband's desk.
Sesshoumaru leaned an elbow onto an armrest and began to rub his left temple with his fingers. He was quiet and wasn't even looking at her.
Kagome shifted in her seat and fidgeted with her hands. "Look…I know you're probably wondering why I left after last night…but I…" She started.
Sesshoumaru sighed and removed his glasses. She continued.
"I…think I'd be happier if we weren't…together any longer. I don't want to be weighed down by this…whatever this is now between us… I want to be able to feel…like ME again." She began to explain.
"Kagome…I'm afraid that you're forgetting one little detail about this 'divorce' of yours. Inu-Youkai mate for life. There's no backing out." Sesshoumaru said quietly, keeping his eyes trained hers.
"And I'm afraid that you're forgetting Sesshoumaru…that I'm 'not' Inu-Youkai. I'm human. I follow human customs." She said sternly, her voice never wavering.
Sesshoumaru swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat as he stared his wife down.
Tao was beginning to rouse and he closed his eyes and made a motion to their son. Kagome looked over and stood up so she could sit on the edge of the couch.
Tao opened his eyes and found himself looking in the eyes of his mother. He frowned and turned back over, throwing the covers over his head in the process.
"Tao…sweetie. Come on. Let's get you home." She said, attempting to pull the covers from her sons head. When it wouldn't budge she frowned and stood up, pulling furiously on the blanket. Tao, not really thinking, let go of the blanket and his mother fell to the ground in loud thump.
"TAO!" Sesshoumaru roared, immediately standing up and practically jumping over his desk, to kneel next to his wife.
Tao sat up and rubbed his eyes before looking at his grimacing mother and angered looking father. "What happened?" He asked.
"You let your mother fall to the floor when she was trying to get you up." Sesshoumaru growled, pulling his wife into his arms.
Tao's eyes widened…'Oh man…so I wasn't having a dream about tug-of-war…'
Tao watched as his mother held her enlarged belly, in his father's arms.
"Mother? Are you all right? I'm sorry. I wasn't awake yet." He admitted, kneeling down next to his parents.
Kagome looked up at him with a pained smile and said, "It's all right…I'll be fine."
She winced in pain and Sesshoumaru growled low in his throat, while nuzzling his wife's neck.
"Oh my…that wasn't supposed to happen." Kagome suddenly said gasping slightly.
"What? What is it?" Tao asked.
"Contractions!" She gasped loudly, clutching onto Sesshoumaru's shirt front.
