The alarm did not go off in Kagomes room the next morning. Mrs. Higurashi had turned it off the previous night once Kagome was in bed. There was no need for it, since exams were over. InuYasha and Kagome simultaneously choked on their food. Kagome glanced at InuYasha who looked like he wanted to hide under the table in embarrassment. Did he look wonderful? She thought. That's an understatement. Unbidden came the memory of when she first set eyes on him in the club last night and she involuntarily found herself getting aroused despite her sore and swollen state. Kagome leaned her head in her hand, shading her eyes, and looked at her plate.

 

“No mom, I started taking birth control pills about a month ago,” she said, “I just had a gut instinct that…our relationship…might change.”

“What are birth control pills?” said InuYasha, “You can actually control giving birth in your time?”

“What about your exam scores?” said InuYasha, “When will they be posted?”

 

“Eleven o'clock, in an hour,” she said. “But I can go see them any time, really. I'm just not too eager to do it.”

 

“You should do it soon,” he said, “We need to get back.”

 

Kagome sighed.

 

“Okay, after lunch we will go get my scores. Then I can return with you, but only for a week if I passed my exams.”

 

“Only a week?” he said, “Why?”

 

“I have to be back for my High School graduation ceremony.”

 

Kagome got up and started clearing the breakfast dishes. When she was done she headed for the bathroom, and InuYasha followed her. She stopped and turned to look at him. He grinned.

 

“No one is home,” he said, “so let me take a bath with you.”

 

Kagome closed her eyes and shook her head sadly.

 

“Please InuYasha,” she said, “no sex. My body needs a break.”

 

“I can't promise you I won't need you,” he said.

 

Kagome looked at him and thought for a moment.

 

“Okay,” she said, taking his hand, “if your need is that bad, I have an idea on how to help you.”
