chapter 63

Good Kagome vs. Evil Kagome part 2

Do to real life, this is a shorter chapter than I had hoped, but,
still, there should be some good scenes in it.

_______________________________

"Inu-yasha and the Kagome of this world must have killed that
girl and sent the police after us." Sesshomaru speculates.

Kagome grimaces. "I think you're right, Sesshomaru."

"Surrender peacefully! You have five minutes!"

The phone rings.

Kagome and Sesshomaru look at each other.

She reaches out and picks up the phone.

"Hello?" She asks.

"Ah, good." Kagome shivers as she hears her own voice on the
phone. "The police have orders to kill you, by the way. The
police Captain and I have an arraignment. Good-bye, imposter."

Kagome2 hangs up the phone.

Kagome1 and Sesshomaru look at each other.

They are alone . . .

No weapons . . .

No supplies . . .

And they are surrounded . . .

Kagome2 closes her cell-phone. "That should take care of that."

Inu-yasha grunts, "don't count on it. Sesshomaru is . . . "

"Is someone that hasn't shown himself in five hundred years?"
Kagome interrupts. "And I'm supposed to believe that he is
powerful?"

He sighs, "I'm still going ahead with my trap idea."

Kagome purses her lips, "It won't hurt, I suppose." She waves her
hand, dismissing him.

They are in her business study at her mansion on the outskirts of
Tokyo. There is a large desk, with a flat-screen computer. A
table, some chairs, all of which is of the highest quality. The
wall is decorated with large photos of Kagome.

Inu-yasha nods and leaves the room.

Kagome taps her cell-phone. ‘Do I call the captain? No. He can
handle it.'

She smiles, ‘I've been working with him for a long time. I knew
that having a friend on the police would be helpful. And I had
Inu-yasha help him solve a couple of murders and a kidnaping,
just to boost his rank in the force, that is now paying off.'

She twirls her Jewel. ‘I've only had to lightly use this on him.
He fell in love with me at first glance, before I did anything,
and now, he'll do anything that I say.'

She opens a drawer on her desk and stares at Kagome1's necklace
and the shard of the jewel hanging from it.

‘I'm not going to let you do that to me or my jewel, bitch. You
will die, quicker and with less pain than I was planning, but, I
can't take the chance that you'll break my jewel. And so, you
die. Even if that means that I have to kill your male companion.'
She thinks in anger.

The purified pieces of the Jewel pulses . . .

The corrupted Jewel pulses . . .

She closes the drawer with a snap and glares at her cell phone.
"He'd better call back quickly, or . . . " She growls at herself
. . .

*******************

Inu-yasha pulls out his cell-phone and dials, as he walks down a
richly decorated corridor.

He says into the phone, "Boys, make sure you pack up the military
grade weapons, not just the normal pistols and guns. When
Sesshomaru attacks, we'll need all the firepower that we can
get."

He answers a few basic questions before he hangs up the phone and
enters his room.

It is a severally plain room, with a traditional forest pattern
to the paintings that line the walls. The large window is opens
out to a nearby wooded area. Very little in the way of
furnishings.

Laying in the middle of the room is Sesshomaru's two swords and
Kagome's sword.

‘The appearance of another Kagome has rocked her.' He thinks.
‘She just wants them dead, now, instead of using them like she
was thinking about. That broken jewel . . . that might be it.'

"She didn't even pay attention to some of the items we pulled out
of those backpacks." He says to himself.

‘The submachine guns in those packs, my boys told me is of a
German pattern, but one that he's never seen. And those star wars
like guns. They are real! I almost blew my own head off fiddling
with one of them.' He thinks.

"But . . . you three interest me the most." He says to the three
swords as he sits, cross-legged, in front of them.

He glares at Tokijin . . .

Tokijin radiates hate and anger . . .

‘I've already lost one man to that blade. And, my instincts are
telling me that if I touch it . . . I'll be next.' He thinks.

He looks at Tenseiga.

‘When I tried it out earlier . . . it passed through, without
hurting, the girl that I was using as a practice dummy. Why would
my brother be carrying a sword that doesn't kill?'

His eyes flick to Jaa Kalpa.

"At least." He reaches out and picks it up. "This blade is
normal. It sliced that girl's head off, without picking up a
nick."

He straps it on. "It's been a long time since I've used a sword,
but." He pulls the blade and does a few practice thrusts. "It'll
come back to me."

He sheaths the blade. ‘Somehow the thought of killing her with
her own sword . . . I like it.' He thinks. His manhood grows at
that thought.

He walks over to one wall and slides open a small door. Inside is
a flat-screen TV. ‘Let's watch and see how they escape that
hotel.' He thinks.

He flicks on the TV.

back at the love hotel . . .

Sesshomaru stands up and stretches. He flicks his wrist and his
acid whip forms. "Well, my dear, any ideas? This is your world,
or close enough to it that it doesn't matter." He says.

Kagome grimaces. "The police are beginning tricked, Sesshomaru,
so I don't want to massacre them."

He nods. "Expected sentiments, my dear. But, they will shooting
at us, and I don't have Tenseiga to raise us, should they get
lucky and hit a vital spot."

She nods. "So, we just have to make sure that they can't hit us
in a vital spot."

He raises an eyebrow in a silent question.

She waves her hand, as she says, "give me a minute to think,
please?"

He nods.

"YOU HAVE TWO MINUTES!" the man with the bullhorn yells!

Sesshomaru frowns, "I can hear aircraft, helicopters, I believe,
approaching."

"The roof?" Kagome mumbles. "Yes. They'll never expect that." She
nods.

"Your plan?"

"We just go to the roof and you fly us away, as fast as you can."

"And not attack?"

"What purpose would it serve?"

"You normally don't like showing off our powers?" He asks.

"We're going to reveal our powers if we attack, so . . . This
way, there are no deaths."

He nods. "Let's go."

Kagome stands up, checks the room to make sure that they haven't
forgotten anything. She looks up at the spy-cam and sticks out
her tongue and pulls down her eyelid, giving them the red-eye.

He raises his eyebrow.

"An Insult, my dear."

They leave the room.

At the top of the stairs . . .

"Beyond this door is the roof." Sesshomaru says, as he places his
hand on the door.

"Kick it open and fly high and fast, Sesshomaru." She smiles.

He smiles, wraps his arm around her, and kicks the door open.

A couple of steps out and . . .

up, up and away

Sesshomaru quickly flies past the police and TV news helicopters.

A couple of wild shoots are taken, but nothing hits them. He's
flying to fast, and the fact that he's flying is shock.

********************

Inu-yasha turns off his TV. He smiles, ‘Good. I've hated running
around in the shadows.' He looks at his clawed hand. ‘Now . . .
people will learn my true reputation.'

***************************

Kagome2 slams down the phone. "Damn!" She hisses. "I didn't think
she would be that obvious. Why isn't she trying to conceal her
powers?" She growls. "Very well. Inu-yasha's plan it is."

*************************************

Sesshomaru lands on a roof of a building a few kilometers from
the love hotel. He releases Kagome and puts his hands on his
hands, recovering. ‘Going that fast for that distance is a drain
on my power.'

"Are you, Ok?" she whispers.

He stands up and waves off her concern, "I'm fine, Kagome. That
speed is intended for combat, and is for sprinting, not long
distance."

She nods.

"Now what?" He asks.

"Since I'm famous on this world, finding out where I am shouldn't
be to hard, Sesshomaru." She replies. She nods. "Nearest public
library. They should have a public computer and a simple search
should tell me what I need to learn."

"Public?"

She grimaces. "Yes, we'll be noticed. I'm sure. But, especially
after what we just did, the police and authorities will be more
cautious in the future."

"Just brazenly walk in?"

She smiles, "yes. We're not on my world, so I'm not all that
concerned with the consequences. It should be fun." She pauses,
"And since we know that people are after us, we'll be alert and
move away if necessary. Until we get our weapons and items back,
there isn't anyplace on this world that we have to be."

She thinks, ‘and, the more public scenes we make the harder it'll
be for her to conceal it. So, even if we lose, we'll still hurt
her.'

"Weapons?"

She sighs. "I know where we can get a bow and arrow for me. And
swords, if you want. Even guns. Although, if we go there, I'm
sure that the store owner will shoot back."

"The owner of the swords, will he fight back?"

Kagome shrugs, "probably, but, a normal human against you? Even
with a sword, he'll lose. A person with a gun, especially in a
small space where you can't dodge, or where I can't dodge at all,
though?"

Sesshomaru nods. "Where is the nearest library, then?"

Kagome looks around, making sure that she knows where they are
and remembering where the nearest branch library is.

"That way." She points.

He grabs her and they fly away.

He lands, a few minutes later, on another roof.

He breaks the lock on the door and they walk into the library.
‘I'm sure that there are alarms on that door, but.' Kagome
thinks, ‘We only need to be here a few minutes, so.' She shrugs.

A security guard enters the stairway as they walk down. HE looks
at Kagome and Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru grins, showing his fangs.

The guard whitens, turns around and leaves the stairway.

Kagome and Sesshomaru enter the ground floor of the library.

Everyone stops and stares at them.

Kagome smiles, "could you direct me to the nearest public
computer?" she asks.

One of the librarians points, her arm shaking.

Kagome bows. "Thank you." She pauses, "it might be a good idea if
you evacuate the building, Ma'am. One never can tell what might
happen."

She bows again and Sesshomaru and Kagome walk to the computer
kiosks.

The librarians and security guards begin to quickly shuffle
people out of the building.

"While I'm looking and reading, Sesshomaru." Kagome says as she
sits down in front of a computer. "Could you listen to the people
and find out why they all know our faces? I expected to be
noticed, but not like this."

He nods.

A pause as Kagome types and reads. She finds a note pad and
begins to write down information.

"A notice has gone out." Sesshomaru begins. "The story that most
people are saying . . . seems to be that we are a pair of
criminals that attempted to kill or kidnap Higurashi Kagome. You
are surgically modified to be like her. I am surgically modified
to increase people's fear of me."

Kagome grimaces, but continues to write.

"Inu-yasha disrupted our plans. We, during our escape, have
killed a number of people. The exact number seems to vary from
person to person." He pauses.

"Armed and considered very dangerous is a phrase that is being
repeated many times."

"I thought it might." Kagome says under her breath. "Anything
else?"

"A large reward for information about us has been offered. The
police are notified and will be here soon."

She shrugs. "They'll wait until they have more officers than just
a couple. That'll give us a couple of more minutes."

He nods. "Are you successful?"

She nods. "Yes. I've got her home address. It's on the outskirts
of Tokyo. But." She clicks on a link.

"This breaking news story, though, is saying that Higurashi
Kagome and Inu-yasha have flown, via a private helicopter to a
private estate in the middle of a forested area, a couple of
hours outside the city."

"They've left the city?" he says in surprise.

Kagome nods. "And, the story, also says that Inu-yasha is
bringing with him some old samurai swords that he's been given as
a gift."

"Tenseiga and Tokijin given to Inu-yasha as a gift?" Sesshomaru
snorts. "Never."

He purses his lips, "They told this story, so it would be
spread?" he asks.

Kagome nods. "Yes. It's a press release. They wanted everyone to
know."

"It's a trap." Sesshomaru says authoritatively.

Kagome nods. "Yes. That's obvious." She pauses, "and by moving
out of the city and to a private location, they'll be able to
control who goes on the scene afterward. And that'll allow them
to control the story about what happened."

He grunts. "Immaterial. How do we get there?"

"IT is a long distance." Kagome says slowly. "You could fly us
there, but."

"That will tire me, elemental strategy." Sesshomaru nods. "Can we
avoid that?"

"I think so." Kagome replies. She looks around. The library is
empty. "How much time do we have?"

"Not much." Sesshomaru replies. "There is already one helicopter
overhead. And about six to eight officers gathered outside the
entrance."

"What about that emergence exit?" Kagome points to a fire exit
sign leading to the back of the building.

He pauses. "There are too many doors to be sure, but I think that
there is only a one or two people back there."

"Then, since they'll be expecting us to fly out of here, we'll go
out the back way."

"Weapons?"

"They're next."

Kagome and Sesshomaru leave the library. His speed allows them to
slip around the police at the back entrance, without notice.

Later . . .

Sesshomaru and Kagome enter through a store the back door. A
store that specializes in martial arts weapons.

A young man, a cashier, quickly reacts to the sound of the back
door opening.

"You can't . . . " His voice trails off as he recognizes Kagome.
"You. You."

"We are the dangerous criminals that you've obviously been
hearing about, sir." Kagome bows to him.

"Don't interrupt or attempt to interfere with us." Sesshomaru
growls at the cashier.

The cashier pales, the front of his slacks becomes wet . . .

The couple of other customers in the store, freeze. But at
Sesshomaru's vague wave, one of them quickly leaves the store.

The other tries to stare down Sesshomaru, but, recognizes a
mismatch when he is in one and leaves.

Kagome politely directs her attention away from him and picks out
a nice bow, a quiver and about twenty arrows.

Sesshomaru looks at the selection of swords. His lips curl in
disgust.

She bows to the cashier. "I am sorry, but, due to circumstances
beyond our command, I cannot pay for these. If everything comes
out as planned, I should be able to send you the money necessary
for them."

"Well, Sesshomaru?" She asks. He is still staring at the
selection of swords.

"None of them are worthy enough for me to even touch them." He
growls.

She silently sighs. "We won't be able to keep searching until we
find better swords, Sesshomaru. So, will you take the best one of
them or not?"

"I will take my swords back from Inu-yasha." Sesshomaru growls.
He reaches out, picks up the best of the swords and twists it,
then, contemptuously throws the pretzelized sword at the feet of
the cashier.

"Let's leave." She says as she places the bow and quiver on her
back.

A couple of minutes later, on a nearby roof.

Sesshomaru is looking at the helicopters, police and TV, that are
flying in circles around the city. All of them trying to find
them. "Humans." He growls, "Running around like a chicken with
its head cut off."

Kagome flicks her eyes at the helicopters. She smiles, "They'll
get organized sooner or later, Sesshomaru. Your speed and flying
abilities are beyond their training."

"Now. How do we get to where Inu-yasha has set his trap?"
Sesshomaru asks.

Kagome points down to the street below. She is pointing at one of
the cars that are driving around. "That is a cab, Sesshomaru.
They hire themselves out to people and drive them to where they
want to go."

He nods.

"Want I'm thinking is you fly us to the edge of the city. Then we
locate a cab, enter it and have the driver take us to the
location." She sighs, "we can't pay, which I dislike and it'll
take us longer than you flying us there. But, we won't arrive
tired."

Her mouth twitches, "And I'm sure the cabby will make some money
selling his story to the local newspapers, so he'll be ok."

"Any other problems?"

She shrugs, "I'm sure that he'll have some sort of panic button
or something in the cab, that'll warn the police that he is being
ordered to go somewhere against his will. So . . . the police
should, sooner or later, have an idea about where we're headed."

He snorts in contempt, "of course these humans should know where
we are headed. What you read earlier should have told them that."

She nods. "I'm sure that once we get there. That there'll be a
lot of police and private security guards around."

Sesshomaru looks at her, "You don't seem concerned or upset?"

Kagome sighs, "Sesshomaru, I am and then again, I'm not. I know
what we can do. I know what the police can do. Unless they get
lucky and hit us with a bullet, we'll win that battle."

He nods.

She shakes her finger at him, "Now, If possible, since they are
fighting us because they are being lied to, I'd like not to kill
anyone."

He sighs. "We've been through that argument before, my dear."

"And?"

He sighs, again, "If possible, I will not kill anyone."

She nods. "Thank you, my dear."

She sighs, "but . . . Every time I think about attacking Inu-
yasha or myself." She shivers. He wraps his arms around her
shoulders, supporting her.

Later . . . in the cab . . .

"I dislike being trapped in this metal can." Sesshomaru growls.
He is constantly swinging his head around, looking out the
windows.

The driver, already white, goes whiter . . .

"We'll be fine, Sesshomaru." Kagome rubs his shoulder.

He looks at her, his eyebrow raises, "you know, my dear, I've
been thinking about how you've just taken what we've needed here,
that wasn't like you when we began this trip."

Kagome sighs. Her mouth twitches, "yes, I would have expected you
to pull that sort of thing." She sighs, her head rests on his
shoulder, "I think . . . We've both picked up some of each
other's behaviors during this trip."

"Oh?"

"You've promised not to kill, Sesshomaru. Would you have done
that before this trip?"

A pause.

"I did not exactly promise that, Miko Higurashi Kagome."

She growls, "And risk my anger if you decide to raze a city? I
expect people to die, today, Sesshomaru. I just hope that the
numbers of deaths are less than they could be. But, still, would
you have even thought about that before this journey of ours?"

He purses his lips. "This . . . I see what you are talking about
Kagome. You've changed, but so have I."

"For the better?" She whispers.

A pause.

He wraps his arm around her shoulders. "Yes." He whispers.

He thinks, ‘I have you in my life. That alone is worth the
changes you've made in me.'

"Sesshomaru." Kagome whispers, "I think that I like the changes
I've been through on this journey as well."

She thinks, ‘unlike Inu-yasha, who I'm never absolutely sure what
he's thinking . . . I know your thoughts, Sesshomaru.' She
reaches up and kisses him. ‘And that dependability, along with
your love is why I love you.'

Later . . .

"The helicopters are back." Sesshomaru remarks.

"Good enough." Kagome says. "The police and everyone will expect
us to be in here." She pauses and looks around. "Those woods up
ahead look thick enough. Driver?"

"Y-yes." He replies.

"Slow down and stop, please. We'll leave here."

Sesshomaru raises his eyebrow. "And?"

"And we're close enough that you can fly us there without any
problems, Sesshomaru." Kagome smiles. "And since everyone will
expect us to travel up this road. You'll fly us around them."

He nods, "And we avoid the battle ahead."

"Hopefully." She replies, "there will still be the guards at the
house, of course."

"And inu-yasha."

"And inu-yasha." She sighs heavily.

Later . . .

Kagome and Inu-yasha's mountain retreat is a large townhouse set
in amongst a pine forest. It is a large two-story house.

Off in the distance to the east, helicopters are circling.

One is circling above the house, but, the trees are thick enough
that Sesshomaru can approach the house.

Sesshomaru and Kagome land on one of the nearby pine trees.

She takes her bow and arrow and strings it.

"Well?" Sesshomaru asks. "I can sense that Inu-yasha is in the
house. However, I cannot sense this world's version of yourself.
Nor do I sense Tenseiga or Tokijin."

She grinds her teeth. "Damn. Ok. Inu-yasha will know where they
are, so." She takes a deep breath.

"Ready."

"Ready, remember, please don't kill Inu-yasha." Kagome says.

"Of course."

"And when we've captured him, I want to spend a few minutes alone
with him, Sesshomaru."

"He's not the same person that you know."

A pause. "Maybe. But, I've got to take that chance."

Kagome takes a deep breath, raises her bow and pulls back an
arrow . . .

The battle begins . . .

(Authors' note: real-life interfered, so I will not be detailing
that battle, sorry.)

A few minutes later . . .

The beautiful townhouse is partially destroyed. The destroyed
remains of one wing of it are in a crater. Parts of the house are
sluggishly burning, and smoke lazily curls over the rest of the
house.

At least a dozen bodies, or parts of bodies are scattered across
the grounds.

The crashed helicopter is burning about a half-kilometer away
from the house.

The sirens of the large police presence are getting louder.

In the basement of the house . . .

Broken furniture, chairs, a bed, a chest and other unrecognizable
bits are scattered about the room.

A large acid-eaten hole is in one wall.

Inu-yasha, with an ugly cut on his forehead, is standing up. His
arms are pinned behind him by Sesshomaru. His hair is a red
blooding mess.

Sesshomaru's right leg is bleeding from a bullet, but he is
otherwise unharmed.

Kagome is standing in front of them. Her left arm is glowing as
she heals a bullet wound in it. She's reacquired her sword and it
is strapped around her waist.

"Well" Inu-yasha growls. "Now what? If you torture me, the police
will be here soon."

Kagome shakes her head. "No, Inu-yasha. We're not going to
torture you. Sesshomaru? Please, I'd like a couple of minutes
alone with him?"

Sesshomaru growls. "Very well." He releases Inu-yasha. "I'll go
outside." He spins Inu-yasha around. "If you hurt her. I will
kill you."

He leaves.

"Inu-yasha?" Kagome asks.

Inu-yasha looks at Kagome. "What?"

"All we want are our weapons and items back. Where are they?"

"I don't believe you, bitch." Inu-yasha growls.

She sighs, "yes, I'd also like to find out what happened and fix
things, Inu-yasha. I want to make things better."

She brushes her eyes, wiping a tear away. "I don't like fighting
you."

"Why?" Inu-yasha asks, "Why haven't you used the necklace on me?"

"Oh." Kagome sighs, "I know how much you hate it, Inu-yasha. I'm
sure that your Kagome has used that necklace on you unmercifully.
So, I don't want to use it."

"You really don't like fighting me?"

She nods. "Yes." She grimaces, "On my world, Inu-yasha. We are
friends." She reaches out and heals his cut forehead.

He looks at her eyes.

"I want to help you, Inu-yasha." Kagome whispers as she stares
into his eyes, "Please, Let me help you. I can fix things, I
know."

His eyes flick around the room. His eyes flick around.

He reaches out, grabs Kagome and kisses her, hard on the mouth.
"Do you love him?" He whispers huskily, as he continues to hug
her. His hands slowly move down her back.

Kagome raises her hand to her mouth. "Yes. But, Inu-yasha, I
still want to help you."

He whispers, "You two got lucky earlier, you know. That falling
beam knocked me silly and Sesshomaru took advantage of that."

"Inu-yasha?"

"You want me to trust you?" He asks.

"Yes." She nods.

His face twists, ‘She's going to betray me. Like Kikyo did. She's
just like Kikyo, with that ‘I'm a good girl' image.' He thinks.

He grabs her and squeezes her hard against him. He whispers into
her ear, "I can beat him. Especially if he is too mad to think
straight. And, even if I can't, Kagome, I'll still hurt him worse
than anyone else."

His claws dig into her back. "This time I won't be knocked silly
at the start of the fight."

Kagome opens her mouth and screams . . .

Inu-yasha rips out her heart.

"I've always wanted to kill you." He purrs as her body falls to
the ground, her heart in his fist.

The twin green jewels in the pommel of Jaa Kalpa glows . . .

‘Now, Sesshomaru will arrive, but he'll be soo mad. He'll make
mistakes and I can beat him.' Inu-yasha thinks.

"Inu-yasha." Sesshomaru's ice cold voice sounds behind him.

Inu-yasha spins, dropping Kagome's heart. "Even if I lose, I've
still hurt you, brother." He growls.

Inu-yasha looks in Sesshomaru's eyes . . .

He gulps . . .

‘I wanted him angry . . . but. I've never seen anything like
that.' Is Inu-yasha instantaneous thought.

Sesshomaru's eyes blaze red . . .

His facial birthmarks blaze red . . .

"You are dead." He says in an emotionless voice.
