Kagome where are you

chapter 64

Authors' note: I had a couple of reviewers mention the lack of
description of the battle at the end of ch 63. Sigh . . . In my
rough draft. I was going to expand it. But.

Reviewers want me to finish this story and get them home. So, I'm
cutting things. That was edited out.

Also, I had more planned from the POV of Inu-yasha and Kagome2,
but, that's been edited out, as well. I'm trying to get them
home as fast as I can, but, still set up the characters the way
that I want.

_______________________________

Kagome opens her mouth and screams . . .

Inu-yasha rips out her heart.

"I've always wanted to kill you." He purrs as her body falls to
the ground, her heart in his fist.

The twin green jewels in the pommel of Jaa Kalpa glows . . .

‘Now, Sesshomaru will arrive, but he'll be soo mad. He'll make
mistakes and I can beat him.' Inu-yasha thinks.

"Inu-yasha." Sesshomaru's ice cold voice sounds behind him.

Inu-yasha spins, dropping Kagome's heart. "Even if I lose, I've
still hurt you, brother." He growls.

Inu-yasha looks in Sesshomaru's eyes . . .

He gulps . . .

‘I wanted him angry . . . but. I've never seen anything like
that.' Is Inu-yasha instantaneous thought.
Sesshomaru's eyes blaze red . . .

His facial birthmarks blaze red . . .

"You are dead." He says in an emotionless voice.

"I'm going beat you, Sesshomaru! You can't move quickly in here!"
Inu-yasha flexes his claws. "Natural claws!"

Sesshomaru does not reply. His expression does not change. He
does not move, just flexes his fingers and toes.

"Attack me!" Inu-yasha yells. He kicks Kagome's dead body.

Sesshomaru's stare increases in hatred.

Sesshomaru moves . . .

His body slams Inu-yasha into the concrete walls of the basement.
The house rattles around them, and pieces of the floor above them
rain down on them.

Inu-yasha's clawed hands are in front of him, holding
Sesshomaru's hands out of his chest.

Their fingers are entangled together as they begin a contest of
strength.

Sesshomaru hands glow green.

Inu-yasha screams in agony as his hands dissolve under
Sesshomaru's acidic attack.

Sesshomaru once his hands are free, swipes Inu-yasha across the
face, ripping his face to shreds.

Inu-yasha kicks at Sesshomaru's groin. Sesshomaru grabs his leg
and dissolves the thighbone.

Inu-yasha howls in pain and agony!

Sesshomaru throws him across the room and into the concrete wall.
An Inu-yasha sized crater in the wall forms as Inu-yasha slides
down the wall.

Sesshomaru, instantly, picks up his brother's body and body slams
it into the wall again.

Piece of the house above them collapse . . .

One of Sesshomaru's hands holds Inu-yasha upright, the other
slaps him across the face.

That pain awakens Inu-yasha.

"I want you to be awake." Sesshomaru's emotionless voice says.

His free hand reaches down and snaps Inu-yasha's right leg at the
thighbone.

Inu-yasha howls again, bloody spit splatters on Sesshomaru and
himself.

Sesshomaru reaches into Inu-yasha's eye and rips out the black
pearl.

"You didn't know about this, Inu-yasha." Sesshomaru remarks as he
rolls the pearl between his fingers. "Inside this is our father's
tomb. And in it is the Tetsusaiga. Your sword, by the way."

Sesshomaru looks into Inu-yasha's bloody face, "With it, you
might have beat me. My true brother has beaten me with that
blade. You are not him."

Inu-yasha gurgles as he tries to speak, but Sesshomaru applies
even greater pressure on his windpipe, preventing him from
speaking.

Sesshomaru places the pearl in his clothes. His hand, the only
thing that is holding Inu-yasha up, closes Inu-yasha's throat. "I
am going to kill you, Inu-yasha." He says in a very dead voice.
"Then, I will kill your Kagome. Then . . . "

He pauses, "Then, I have nothing else to live for." He says.
"These last few weeks she's been everything to me." He whispers.
"And, now, the thought of living without her . . . "

Sesshomaru shudders. "I don't want to live without her."

He thinks, ‘I wonder, how many soldiers it will take to kill me?'

Sesshomaru glances at Kagome's body. His eyes narrow as he spots
the glowing green gemstones on the hilt.

His attention focuses on Inu-yasha, who is slowly dying of
suffocation. ‘I wonder?' he thinks. ‘He didn't try to use Jaa
Kalpa's powers. Why? I would have thought that the sword would
have liked to have been in his hands. He is much more of a
warrior than Kagome ever will be.'

Sesshomaru's ears flick. ‘The police and helicopters are
approaching, rapidly. IF I'm going to leave without difficulty, I
have to kill him, quickly.'

Sesshomaru brings Inu-yasha's broken and bloody face close to
his, "You are dying far to easily for my pleasure, but, I have no
choice in the matter." He says.

Sesshomaru places his free hand on top of Inu-yasha's skull.

His hand glows green as he dissolves the top of Inu-yasha's
skull.

Inu-yasha gurgles and his body thrashes, ineffectively.

Sesshomaru stops, once the bone is removed.

In a very conversational tone, Sesshomaru remarks, "Did you know
that the brain does not feel pain, Inu-yasha? Which is a great
pity, because I really want you to die in pain, but, one cannot
have everything that one wishes, can one?"

Inu-yasha's mouth opens and he tries to scream, but Sesshomaru's
hand around his throat prevents that dying scream as Sesshomaru
dissolves his brain.

Sesshomaru throws Inu-yasha's dead body into one corner.

The body still twitches a couple of times, from reflexes, before
it acknowledges that it's dead, and stops moving . . .

Sesshomaru carefully picks up Kagome's heart and replaces it in
her chest, folding the broken bones back into place. He looks up.
‘No. I will not leave her body for this world's scum. I will take
her body with me. After I kill this world's Kagome, I will bury
my Kagome.'

He nods. As he reaches under her body, so he can pick her up, his
hands brush against Jaa Kalpa.

*Sesshomaru!* Kagome's mental voice yells!

He blinks. He looks at the sword.

He grasps the hilt and pulls the sword out of its scabbard.

*Kagome?!* He mentally whispers in shock.

*Yes!*

He blinks and whispers, "The sword . . . you transferred our
soul to the sword."

*Yes, just like I did when I helped you fight against the cube.*
Kagome replies.

*I am still here, by the way.* Jaa Kalpa remarks in a very dry
tone.

*And, Jaa Kalpa.* Kagome says, *Like I said when I showed up, I
do wish to thank you for allowing me to share yourself.*

Jaa Kalpa says, *IF I thought that Inu-yasha had a chance,
Kagome, it would have been different, but, he didn't.*

*thank you.* Kagome replies in a small voice. *I will make this
up to you.*

Jaa Kalpa, *I will hold you to that.*

Sesshomaru says, "We still have to win and restore your body,
Kagome."

*I know, Sesshomaru.* she pauses, *you might want to freeze my
body, until you can recover Tenseiga.*

*can we restore you now?* Sesshomaru asks.

*You would have to do it all by yourself, Sesshomaru.* Kagome
replies, *It's taking all my power simply to hold myself
together.*

She pauses, and in a slightly awed tone, *Being out of body like
this, is eye opening, and very tempting, Sesshomaru. I feel like
I can do anything.*

*Don't!* Sesshomaru cries, *you're not fully trained for out of
the body spells and with your true body dead, you are very
vulnerable.*

*I know, Sesshomaru.* Kagome replies. *but, it is very tempting.*

*Jaa Kalpa, if she tries to leave you, alert me.* Sesshomaru
orders, *She can't be allowed to leave you. At least, not until
we've healed her body.*

*I know.* the sword replies.

*Are you going to restore me, now?* Kagome asks.

Sesshomaru's ears twitch again, *no. I don't have time. The
police are almost here.*

*After you escape the police?*

Sesshomaru pauses, *Healing this and restoring your soul is a
major undertaking. Healing is not my strength. Tenseiga can heal
you and restore you much easier than I can.*

He nods, *And, this world's Kagome will be alerted to my success
here. In order to retrieve Tenseiga, since it is not here, I will
have to confront and defeat her.*

Kagome thinks, *with Inu-yasha dead, she'll either gather more
troopers around herself, or she'll move.*

*Which?*

*I would leave the country. I know that you don't know this world
and society. I know that you'll never be able to conceal yourself
well enough to really hide. So, I'll move. And while you're
chasing me, the various police and military units will be trying
to kill you. Sooner or later, someone will put a bullet or a
shell fragment in your skull.*

Kagome pauses, *but her? Since we didn't cause a lot of damage in
the city, and since the reports from here will probably emphasize
the damage caused by their missing us with all those rockets and
grenades. I might assume that I'm safe in the city and just
increase the numbers of guards around me.*

Her voice brightens, *and, since she's using the jewel to control
people, in the city is where she can contact and control people
that she's know. If she runs, then she'll be forced to use her
jewel more often, controlling more and more people.*

"Then that will be the plan." Sesshomaru says as he straps Jaa
Kalpa to his waist and picks up Kagome's body.

He forces his way through the destroyed house.

He flies, carrying Kagome's body, off deeper and higher into the
mountains, he thinks, ‘the mountains are the same. I know them.'

A few minutes flight, and well away from any flying helicopter,
he lands on a forested mountainside, just below the snow pack on
the mountain. After a couple of seconds of searching, he finds a
cave that he remembers.

He gently and reverently lays her body on the stone ground.

*I'll freeze your body and leave it here, Kagome.* he thinks.

*ok,* Kagome says in a small voice.

He pulls Jaa Kalpa and freezes her body.

He walks out of the cave, and after checking to make sure that no
one is watching. He smashes the entrance of the cave, sealing it.
He thinks, ‘it's not perfect, but, it'll keep her body safe, at
least until I can recover it.'

*now what?* Kagome asks.

*first, I'm going to leave this area and fly back in the
direction of the city.* Sesshomaru replies. *I am thinking about
stopping and examining the pearl. Perhaps even opening it and
making sure that tetsusaiga is in there.*

*You can't remove it.* Kagome replies

*hmmm, maybe, or maybe not. The seal might change since Inu-yasha
is dead. And I do have you, if only metaphysically, by my side.*

Jaa Kalpa interrupts, *once upon a time, I would have interrupted
and tried to force you not to acquire another sword.*

*Once upon a time?* Sesshomaru asks in a very suspicious tone.

*Jaa Kalpa?* Kagome asks in surprise.

*but, I will not interfere, Sesshomaru.* Jaa Kalpa replies. *That
action I believe, would cause you and Kagome to dislike myself.
Which, I can see, would lead to my not being used or my
destruction.*

*and do you expect something for not trying to interfere?*
Sesshomaru growls.

*no.* Jaa Kalpa replies.

*no?* Sesshomaru says in surprise. *then why did you mention it?
That does not make sense, then.*

*Shhh, Sesshomaru.* Kagome interrupts. *don't worry about it,
I'll take care of Jaa Kalpa, Sesshomaru. *

*your sure?* he asks.

*I'm sure.* She replies. *Now, to get back to what we were
talking about, are you going to open the pearl?*

*yes.* Sesshomaru replies. *While I respect Jaa Kalpa's cold
powers, the raw destructive force of Tetsusaiga can also be
useful and the more choices I have in my attack, the better my
chances, and the better the chance that I can reduce casualties.*

Kagome mentally sighs, *do what you wish, Sesshomaru. I'll back
you up.*

Later, about halfway back to the city.

‘Hmmm. My senses are showing a lot activity behind me and some
more activity in front of me. So, this is the best spot to open
the pearl.' He thinks.

He stops, and finds an unobserved place. He takes out the black
pearl. ‘Let's see.'

The pearl opens and the gateway to his father's tomb is formed.

Sesshomaru steps through.

He quickly orients himself and flies to his father's giant rib-
cage.

*I'd almost forgotten how big this place is.* Kagome whispers in
his mind.

*yes, he prepared the entire mountain for his tomb. I knew, from
bits and pieces that I'd overheard, that he was planning
something. But, I always assumed it was some sort of masking
spell. Not, placing the mountain in a small detached universe.*
Sesshomaru thinks.

*I've always wondered, Sesshomaru? Surely this is the creation of
a mighty sorcerer, so why didn't you ask him where the tomb was?*

*because my father ordered the death of the sorcerer that created
this place. All that was needed, after his death, was to say a
trigger phrase and then conceal the pearl.* Sesshomaru replies.

*your father killed the sorcerer?*

*Yes.*

*who said the trigger phrase? Myouga?*

*of course. He was the guardian of the tomb.*

*And you could never find him.* Kagome states.

*Myouga's abilities to hide are legendary, my dear.* Sesshomaru
replies in a dry mental voice.

*once, when he was young and still,* Sesshomaru pauses, trying to
find the right words, *Adventuresome. He hid so well that he was
able to visit the sun goddess Amaterasu and he even drank her
blood.*

*oh! I never knew that!*

Sesshomaru chuckles, *Of course not. She did feel that bite and
cursed him.*

*Oh,* Kagome replies again, *It wasn't a bad curse, he's still
alive.*

*I won't say that, my dear. The curse prevents him from ever,
until the sun stops shining, having sex with any partner, even
himself.* Sesshomaru smiles, *which makes me wonder exactly where
he bit her, but neither one of them has ever mentioned that
detail.*

*How do you know?*

*when she cursed him, well,* Sesshomaru replies, *She was very
angry and loudly yelled the curse. Other people heard it and
Myouga was thrown out of her bedroom in front of other gods and
demons.*

*I see* Kagome says as she hides a giggle.

*so my inability to locate Myouga, while frustrating, and that
was my principal preoccupation during the years that inu-yasha
was sealed, is understandable.*

Sesshomaru lands on his father's skeleton.

He quickly stands before Tetsusaiga, which is still imbedded in
Sesshomaru's father's skeleton.

Sesshomaru growls in disgust as the sword rejects his hand.

*Place me against it,* Kagome says.

He pulls Jaa Kalpa and places that blade against Tetsusaiga.

*Do you promise to use Tetsusaiga to protect humans?* She asks.

Sesshomaru grunts, *Very well, I do.*

*grab the sword.*

He reaches out, grabs and pulls Tetsusaiga free.

"Finally." He whispers as his hand caresses the blade. "Now,
let's leave."

As he leaves the skeleton, Sesshomaru stops.

He turns around and bows, deeply to his father's skull. "I may
not have been the son that you wanted. Inu-yasha may not be the
son that you wanted. But, my father, I will be the best Lord of
the western lands, I can be."

He pauses, "And, I am sorry that I've not treated your memory
better, father. When I return to my proper home, I will begin to
correct that mistake."

He spins and flies to the gateway.

*what are you planning?* Kagome asks in a quiet voice.

*After you two left the pearl, do you know what Inu-yasha did
with it?* Sesshomaru asks. *I should, to honor my father, visit
him and try to repair the damage that our fight caused. And, I
would like to place the pearl in a place of honor and worship it,
like a one should.*

Kagome, after a slight pause, mentally says, *yes, fighting in ad
mist our father's bones always struck me as dishonoring his
memory. And, We when left that time, I wanted to ask Inu-yasha
what he wanted to do about the damage. But, he was soo excited
about cutting off your arm and acquiring the sword that I never
asked him.*

*what happened to the pearl?* Sesshomaru repeats himself, in a
stronger tone.

She sighs, *sooner or later, I thought, Inu-yasha would want his
father's grave, instead of just ignoring it like he did, so, I
went back, later, and tried to locate it, but. It was already
gone.*

"I see." Sesshomaru whispers.

He slumps, "As much as I would like to curse him for losing our
father's grave, I find that I cannot. This is pretty much the
first time that I've considered it, myself. And I, even more so
than him, should have tried to locate the pearl earlier."

*I'll help you find it.* Kagome volunteers. *And I'm pretty sure
Myouga was around, and since he was the guardian of the grave.*

*he probably found it and hid it, again.* Sesshomaru remarks.

*probably.*

"I will have a long discussion with Myouga when I return."
Sesshomaru says.

*We will.*

Sesshomaru nods, "We will."

Later.

In the city of Tokyo.

*what's your plan, Sesshomaru?* Kagome asks.

He thinks, *you know where she leaves, Kagome. I'll fly there. If
she's home. I'll attack her. If she's isn't there, I'll torture
her servants until they tell me where she is and where our items
are at.*

*frontal assault?*

"yes. The guns and other weapons of this world are powerful, but,
my speed will prevent them from aiming properly. And, this time,
I'll use Jaa Kalpa and Tetsusaiga. Their powers should cause them
to be hesitant and rethink their plans. I'll exploit that
opening."

Kagome sighs, *I would prefer a plan without the massive
destruction inherent in that one, Sesshomaru. But, I don't see
it. If my body was alive, maybe I could have used my appearance
and tricked our way in, but.*

Sesshomaru nods. *yes, I'm sure that you would have wanted to try
something like that. But.*

*but* Kagome sighs.

Later

Near Kagome2's mansion on the outskirts of the city.

Sesshomaru is standing under a railroad overpass, hidden from
causal view.

Flying over the large mansion building is over a dozen
helicopters. They are a mixture of police and japan self-defense
attack helicopters.

Orbiting near the building is over a dozen TV news choppers,
trying to film what is happening.

*Sesshomaru, those other planes orbiting high above the house are
regular attack planes from the air force.* Kagome mentions.
*somebody must have panicked, I think.*

There is a steady stream of cars and trucks leaving the area.
Each is full of people and their belongings. Sesshomaru can hear
loudspeakers ordering everyone away from the area, in case of an
attack.

*It sounds like you'll get your wish of limited casualties, my
dear.* He says to Kagome.

*good.*

*my senses have also detected a large number of men ahead.*

*probably the police, and they'll be prepared.*

*I'm hearing references to some army units as well.*

*they'll have more firepower than the police, Sesshomaru. But, I
don't think that they'll be as fully prepared. This, to them, is
a very special scene, whereas the police can modify their anti-
riot plans. And there will be command and communication problems.
I'm sure.*

Sesshomaru nods. *that is what I'm hearing. The police use one
method, the army uses another, and they're having problems.*

*they will be trying to keep Kagome informed about us,
Sesshomaru. So, keep an ear out for her, I'm sure that will tell
you where she is.*

*A good idea.*

Sesshomaru draws both swords. In his right hand he holds
Tetsusaiga. In his left hand he holds Jaa Kalpa.

"I begin." He states.

He flies, at full speed, toward one of the attack helicopters. He
can see it twist, turning, trying to position its guns on him.
Other helicopters also begin to react.

Tetsusaiga swings . . . a wave a power leaves it.

The helicopter explodes in midair.

Sesshomaru swoops down on a group of police gathered behind some
squad cars. He dodges the bullets, and swings Jaa Kalpa. The men
freeze.

One of other rockets fired by another attack helicopter explodes
near him. He glances up and swings Jaa Kalpa. The other rockets
freeze in midair. They fall, harmlessly, to the ground.

Sesshomaru moves attacking and destroying various police and army
personnel in his way. His ears, though, are listening for
Kagome's voice.

He smiles. He is hearing her orders.

He concentrates his senses, focusing on her voice, trying to
locate the source.

His eyes flick to the mansion, to one wing of the mansion. He
smiles.

He moves, zigzagging across the killing zone in front of the
mansion. Waves of cold and destruction surround him.

People die . . .

The mansion, the part away from where Kagome located, collapses
from the damage. The screams of agony and pain from the injured
bodyguards and servants come through the wreckage.

*I hate this* Kagome says. *I'll never like the fact that I'm a
killer.*

*I wouldn't love you if you like this, Kagome.* Sesshomaru
replies.

*But, please, don't distract me.* He finishes, *moving and
dodging at this speed is not as easy as it looks.*

Sesshomaru uses Tetsusaiga to slice the wing where Kagome2 is at
in half.

He smashes his way through the walls, killing her personal
bodyguards.

Kagome2 has the Jewel of the Four Souls in her fist as Sesshomaru
enters the room.

A beam of darkness leaves the jewel . . .

He raises Jaa Kalpa in front of himself.

Sesshomaru and Kagome2 can hear Kagome1's groan of agony as she
deflects that attack.

Sesshoumaru's speed, however, is such that he is behind Kaogme2
before she can react to that scream. He sheaths' Tetsusaiga and
grabs the hand holding the Jewel. He mercilessly crushes her hand
and flicks the jewel away from her.

"You lose." HE hisses into her ear. "The men outside this house
are running around in confusion about my attack. They are not
charging into the house, but are trying to prepare defenses
against my leaving. Your soldiers which were in this house are
dead, or will be, should they attempt to interfere with me."

Kagome2 gulps, tears falling from her face from the pain of her
broken hand. "Why haven't you killed me?"

"Because, I might have need of you." Sesshomaru replies,
tonelessly.

His eyes shift to one of the remaining walls, "My senses tell me
that my swords and the cube are in that wall. Where are the rest
of our items?" He squeezes her broken hand as a warning to tell
the truth.

"With them." Kagome2 hisses in pain and fright. "After you killed
Inu-yasha, I didn't want them to get out of my sight."

"You thought you might be able to use them against us?"

She nods. "Are you going to let me live?" she whispers.

"For now." Sesshomaru replies. "But, I have no desire to speak
with you." He slaps her across the face, knocking her
unconscious.

He places her, with surprising gentleness, on the floor. He walks
over the wall and rips it apart uncovering a large wall-safe.

*freeze it* Kagome says. *that weakens the strength of most
metals.*

Sesshomaru nods and swings Jaa Kalpa. He shatters the frozen
safe, revealing their items.

*I will not be able to carry her, and all of our items, Kagome.*
Sesshomaru, *not and be able to dodge the attacks which are
coming.*

*I'll tell which items to keep, Sesshomaru. Most of it is food,
shelter and extra clothes, which can be replaced.* Kagome
replies.

Sesshomaru grabs Tokijin.

Tokijin glows as it is place next to Tetsusaiga, obviously angry
at that.

"Obey me." Sesshomaru states, in a no nonsense tone. "Tokijin.
Ask yourself do I have need you, now that I possess Tetsusaiga?
Be quiet. I do not have the patience to deal with you, now."

Tokijin reduces its glow, but, it still radiates anger.

*Don't forget the jewel or my pieces of the jewel, which are in
the desk.* Kagome1 mentions, *I can feel them.*

Sesshomaru nods. *I will not.*

Kagome1 clears her mental throat, *what is you plan for her?*

*I need her, alive, in case I need to destroy her soul, so you
can move your soul into her body.*

*oh . . . *

A couple of minutes later . . .

Sesshomaru stands. On his back, is his backpack with their
remaining supplies. Between his back and the backpack is Jaa
Kalpa. At his waist are Tenseiga and Tokijin.

In his right hand is Tetsusaiga and slung over his left shoulder
is the unconscious Kagome2.

He swings Tetsusaiga, blowing open a hole to the outside and
leaves the mansion.

The police and army units, as they see Kagome's body slung on
his, hold their attacks and simply try to track Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru's speed and senses allow him to slip free.

*they are following me better than I thought they could.* he says
to Kagome, *Do you know why?*

*Yes, those specks higher in the sky are planes, Sesshomaru. They
are relaying knowledge to the helicopters and smaller planes that
you are dodging.*

*I wanted to go directly to your body and restore you.*
Sesshomaru growls, *but, if I'm being watched.*

*go ahead and do it, Sesshomaru.* Kagome replies, *after that
attack, they'll be cautious about moving in. We'll probably have
people trying to see what we are doing, but, that's all they will
attempt.*

*by the time that they have that mountain surrounded, I'll be
ok.* She finishes, *And, we can simply hold out in that cave
until the cube is ready and we leave this world.*

Sesshomaru nods. He flies toward the mountain.

Later . . .

He lands and uses Tetsusaiga to reopen the cave.

He glances at the high-flying planes and growls at them, but
enters the cave.

He gently places Kagome2 body on the cave's floor.

He kneels next to kagome1's frozen body and beings to carefully
chip the ice off her body.

Later . . .

Sesshomaru stands over Kagome1's body, Tenseiga in his hand.

He glances over to kagome2, who woke up while he was chipping
ice, she is gagged and tied up. "You might wish to pray for my
success. If I fail, you will be destroyed."

She pales, but nods.

He swings Tenseiga over Kagome's body.

Her body heals itself.

Sesshomaru places Jaa Kalpa on her chest.

Jaa Kalpa and Kagome's body glow . . .

Kagome opens her eyes, blinking.

"Kagome?" Sesshomaru whispers.

She smiles, "Yes, I am Kagome."

He hugs her. She hugs him back.

"Argghh." She whispers in his ear, "give me a couple of minutes,
Sesshomaru. My body feels horrible. And I fell like I being stuck
with pins and needles all over."

"What about me?" kagome2 says.

"We'll get to you." Kagome1 says, "just not right now."

A few minutes later, as kagome1 is stretching. Sesshomaru leaves
the cave to see if anyone is nearby.

"Are you going to kill me?" Kagome2 asks, seeing that she is
alone with kagome1.

Kagome1 sighs, "I'd rather not. There is too much blood on my
hands already. But, I'm not going to trust you like I trusted
Inu-yasha, so you'll stay tied up."

Sesshomaru reenters the cave. "There are a few humans nearby, but
they are staying at a distance."

Kagome1's nods, "like I hoped that they would."

She asks, "Her jewel?"

Sesshomaru hands it to her. "It has been trying to tempt me." He
states.

"I know. I could feel it." Kagome1 replies. She smiles, "you
were magnificent as you resisted its offer."

He bows in thanks to her. He thinks, ‘If this didn't work, I
would have used it to raise you, Kagome, no matter what the cost
to my soul.'

Kagome1 looks at kagome2. "It wants me to give it to you." She
says in a conversational tone.

Kagome1's fist closes around the jewel.

Her fist glows . . .

Sweat forms on her brow . . .

Sesshomaru places his hand on her shoulder and gives Kagome
access to his power.

The cave glows in a sudden burst of light . . .

Kagome1 opens her fist.

Laying in the middle of her palm in a purified Jewel of the Four
Souls.

"Instead of corrupting the jewel, you should have purified it."
Kagome1 says.

"You don't know what I type of life I've lived," kagome2 begins
to plead. She thinks, ‘If I tell them a sob story, they might let
me go.'

Kagome1 looks at kagome2. "Yes, I would like to know how this
happened. Tell me."

"Will you let me go, if I do?" kagome2 asks.

"IF you don't tell her all that she wishes to know," Sesshomaru
interrupts, "you will not live."

Kagome2's eyes widen. She looks at kagome1.

Kagome1 looks back at her, without expression. ‘I'm not going to
give her a clue to my thinking.' She thinks, ‘I don't know if I'd
allow him to kill her, but, I do know that right now, I'm not
going to let her think that I will.'

Kagome2 looks away, and begins to speak.

Sesshomaru's senses allow him to ‘correct' her when she tries to
shade the truth. And kagome1's natural empathy with herself,
allows her to help kagome2 ‘remember' details.

Later . . .

After Kagome2 has told her story.

Kagome1 looks at the purified Jewel.

She looks at Kagome2.

She looks at Sesshomaru.

She sighs, "I had thought about using this to wish us home,
Sesshomaru."

He nods, "That thought had crossed my mind as well, Kagome. That
was one of the reasons that I resisted its corruption earlier."
He pauses, "however, I thought I heard a ‘but' in your voice."

She nods.

She looks at kagome2. "I can't just leave her like this. So, I'm
going to use the jewel to try and change history to fix things."

Sesshomaru raises his eyebrow and purses his lips, "It is your
decision, of course. That's not what I would do, but, I can
understand your desire to help yourself."

Kagome1 nods, her face set in a glum expression. "We have to be
close to home, Sesshomaru." She sighs, "and, because of that, I
think we can get home on our own."

Sesshomaru nods. "I see."

Kagome1 continues, "and . . . I've got to do something,
Sesshomaru."

He moves over to her and wraps his arm and tail around her, "I
know."

"What are you going to do?" kagome2 asks.

Kagome1 shakes herself free of Sesshomaru's grasp and walks over
to kagome2.

"I am sorry that your life was so bad." She whispers, "I never
really knew my father." She sighs, "And now, I know why my mother
never speaks of him."

"What happened to you?" kagome2 asks.

"My father left instead of beginning to molest me." Kagome1
replies, "My mother, I believe, is a stronger willed person than
yours and she fought back. They had a large argument and he
left."

"So your father never raped you? He never sold you to his yakuza
buddies? You've never had fat, ugly bastards throw you down onto
a bed and rape you, just because he paid for you." Kagome2
accuses.

Kagome1 nods, "No. Nothing like that has ever happened to me."

Kagome1 smiles, "and I will change that and make things better
for you."

Kagome1 turns and holds the purified jewel above her head.

"I, Higurashi Kagome, wish upon the Jewel of the Four Souls that
this world's version of Higurashi Kagome did not have to suffer
through the life that she did!"

Sesshomaru, as he realizes that kagome1 is beginning her wish,
runs and grabs all their gear. He touches Kagome1, just as she
finishes.

A blinding flash of light . . .

Kagome and Sesshomaru are standing in front of Kagome's house.

Someone, he is not anyone that they recognize, walks out of the
house.

He bows.

"Can I help you?" He asks, "the shrine is closed today for
cleaning, but I'm sure I can do something."

Kagome bows back.

She glances at the house. ‘It feels different.'

"I cannot smell you, or your mother, or even Inu-yasha."
Sesshomaru whispers to her.

Kagome clears her throat. "Actually, I was looking for the
Higurashi Family? Do they live here?"

"Higurashi?" he man's eyebrow raises, "They died years ago."

Kagome pales, "could you tell me what happened?"

"May I ask why?"

She pauses, "I've been exploring my family's history and I've
found some connections to the Higurashi family, and as such, I'm
trying to connect up with them."

"Ah, I see." The man says. He pauses, "I am sorry, but I don't
know the details, but, from my understanding the Higurashi family
that lived in this house did not die peacefully."

"Do you know why?" Kagome asks.

He coughs, "It was, to my understanding, a family dispute.
Exactly what happened that night, no one knows, but, in the end.
All four members of the family, the grandfather, the father, the
small daughter and the pregnant wife all died."

Kagome grimaces. She bows. "Thank you."

Sesshomaru reaches out and grabs her hand. "We'll be leaving
now."

"Something went wrong." Kagome whispers, as they leave the man
scratching his head. He shrugs and continues to clean up.

"Your mother probably fought your father and in the process you
woke up." Sesshomaru says. "In the confusion, all of you died."

Kagome nods. She grimaces. She sighs, "you're probably correct."

"I wished that she didn't suffer." Kagome says in a dead tone, "I
made a mistake with the wording."

Sesshomaru nods. "I thought so, but, once started, you can't
change such a wish."

"Hold me." Kagome whispers.

Sesshomaru hugs her, ignoring the people that are walking and
staring at them.

Kagome thinks, ‘Sesshomaru . . . ' she tightens her grasp on him.
‘He's been through so much with me. And, I remember what he said
when he thought I was dead.' She begins to cry into his chest.

Sesshomaru pets her hair, trying to calm her.

‘When we get home. And I'm sure that we'll be home soon.' Kagome
thinks. ‘I can't leave him. So . . . what about Inu-yasha? Yes,
even if it means leaving Inu-yasha, I can't leave Sesshomaru.'

Kagome hears the whispers and hushed comments of the people
around them, she whispers, "fly us somewhere, Sesshomaru." Her
voice cracks, "I want to hold you and cry . . . "

Sesshomaru gathers her up and flies away.

Kagome, as Sesshomaru flies carrying her, curls up in his arms,
she thinks, ‘So, when Inu-yasha forces me to choose, and he will,
my choice is Sesshomaru.'

‘she's upset, I can smell it.' He thinks, ‘I've got to distract
her. I think that meeting, in her eyes, an evil version of
herself and being killed by Inu-yasha has affected her more than
she'll admit.'

"My consort," Sesshomaru remarks, "the next time you have a wish,
If you could, of course, please think about and consult with me
before expressing that wish."

Kagome glumly nods. "Yes. I made a huge mistake on this world."

He sighs, "worse than you realize, my dear."

"How so?" Kagome challenges him.

"I did not detect any aura around the well house, did you?"

A pause.

"Kagome?"

She whispers, "no. I didn't. So, we can't even use the well. Why
wasn't there some aura around it?"

"With your death, I'm sure, the karmic circumstances altered, and
that closed the well. Also, you just a time altering spell in the
close proximity of another time-related spell, Kagome. And my
limited knowledge of such spells, tells me that time-altering
spells can be fragile, especially if two or more such spells are
cast close to each other."

"Oh."

"But, that is not the worse of the mistakes that you made with
that wish."

"What was worst than that?"

"Since Inu-yasha never went through the well, I didn't not meet
him. I did not kill him. I did not take the pearl from his eye."
He begins to say in a stern, hard voice.

"Tetsusaiga" Kagome interrupts, "it's gone. But, I remember all
that." She presses her hand to her forehead. "I hate time
paradoxes. Hate them!"

‘Good' Sesshomaru thinks, ‘that's gotten her off thinking about
inu-yasha and herself.'

Kagome's eyes flick to his. She frowns.

"You are not as upset about that as you've been pretending to
be." She accuses him.

He opens his mouth to speak to her, but his eyes lock on hers. He
closes his mouth. He, then, says, "You know me better than I know
myself, my love."

He pauses, "I got you back. That's enough."

He draws her closer and kisses her.

"I love you." Kagome whispers.

"I love you." Sesshomaru whispers.

Sesshomaru thinks as he finds a woody area, to conceal themselves
in, and lands, ‘We are close to finding a way to our world. I can
feel it. She can to. I'm sure. What do I do when my true brother
appears and wants her?'

‘My plan was to provoke an attack, so, she'll take my side and
choose me. But. I could smell her reaction to this world's Inu-
yasha. She suppressed it and tried not to let it affect her, but
she still, stupidly, allowed him far to close to her. She knew
it, but still did it.'

Kagome and Sesshomaru land. She takes him by the hand and drags
him to a large tree. "Just sit down with me, Sesshomaru." Kagome
asks. "I just want to be held, by the person I love."

They sit among the huge roots of an ancient tree. His arm slides
around her shoulders. His tail around both of them.

‘She still loves Inu-yasha. Her reaction to this world's inu-
yasha tells me that.' Sesshomaru thinks. ‘But, I cannot give her
up. So, that plan of sharing her with Inu-yasha, remains the only
viable choice. But, if I go with that, then, I cannot provoke an
attack from Inu-yasha and will have to work to find a way that
he'll approve of.'

‘I'm going to have to pound some sense into Inu-yasha and get him
to accept sharing her.' Sesshomaru thinks.

The end chapter 64.

Prevue chapter 65. Anime world.

Kagome and Sesshomaru appear. They are standing in front of what
appears to be a typical Japanese high school.

It is a bright and sunny spring day.

Kagome frowns, "graviton High? Where have I heard that name
before?"

A series of explosions to their right causes their hands to swing
that way.

Running toward them, at a speed that Sesshomaru finds fast, is a
young Japanese school girl with flaming red hair. The only
nonstandard clothing she's wearing long, thick bracers on her
forearms.

Behind her, wearing a suit of armor that is modeled on a skimpy
one-piece swimsuit, is another young school girl, with long
purple hair.

From her wrist a steady stream of missiles is being fired at the
first girl.

"SORRY!" the first girl yells as she dodges Sesshomaru and
Kagome.

"I'll get you, A-KO!" the second girl yells.

"I wasn't doing anything, B-Ko!" the first girl yells.

Explosions begin to pepper the area where Sesshomaru and Kagome
are at. A cloud of dust and dirt forms around them.

It fades

Both Sesshomaru and Kagome have blackened faces and stringy and
burned hair. Sesshomaru growls, but before he can leave, Kagome
grabs his arm, stopping him.

"I know where we are, Sesshomaru." Kagome says.

"And that is?"

"It's an anime series that I watched as a kid. Project A-ko."
