I do not own InuYasha or any of the manga/anime characters. They belong to the genius Rumiko Takahashi.

It was like any other hot scorching day in the middle of July but for her it was the beginning of something new, peaceful, and dangerous. She knew she had to do this for herself, for her family. She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed.

“This is as good as its going to get….I CAN do this, I CAN….Look at my hair! Stupid humidity! NO…that’s not important, I just have to give a good presentation and a firm handshake. THINK POSITIVE… I CAN do this, I WILL.”

“Kagome! You better hurry, Sota already finished his food and he's going to start eating yours if you don't get your butt down here!” Mama Higurashi yelled from the kitchen.

“I'm coming mama! Sota if you touch anything I’m going to hurt you so bad that you’re not gonna be able to eat anything for weeks!” After a few moments of silence Kagome gave a sigh of triumph. Ha! I knew that would stop him she told herself as she made her way out the door before getting her blazer, the only business suit and blazer she owned. She was wearing a black skirt that reached to her knees and a silky green-blue top with a reasonable v-shape neckline. She loved that top even though she had it for some time now. Ayumi, an old friend from middle school, brought it for her for her 21st birthday. She thought it brought the green out in her brown, chocolate eyes. She considered it her lucky top.

When Kagome reached the kitchen she stared at Sota with eyes that could have killed anyone, “I told you to get your butt down here. There is no way to stop a growing boy from eating,” mama told Kagome.

“Mama, I'm 19 already and you still think I'm a little boy!” Sota said with a smirk on his face knowing what her reply was.

“You'll always be my little boy,” mama replied as grandpa entered the kitchen.

“And you’re my grandson, so what’s with the yelling.”

“Good morning gramps!” Sota and Kagome said together. Kagome walked to her seat but not before giving Sota a good smack at the back of his head. “AGH!!!!,” a choking Sota said trying to get the egg down his throat.

“Sota, darling are you ok?”

“You see what she did to me!”

“No darling, I’ve must of missed it,” mama said while winking at Kagome.

“Grandpa, do something!”

“Sorry Soto. I’m just an old man, what do I know.”

“I’ll remember this,” whispered Sota as he took a drink of his juice. The other three couldn’t help but laugh.

“So Kagome, what are you dressed for,” asked grandpa.

“I have a job interview today. In fact if I don’t leave now I’m going to be late. See you all later.”

“Good luck on the interview,” screamed both adults as Kagome grabbed a toast, her blazer and her heels and ran to her car.

The day before.

Kagome and mama were at the grocery store waiting in line to pay for their items. In front of them was a man who looked to be in his early twenties looking at a business article in some random magazine. Kagome couldn’t help but oversee the pages he was looking at because on the left front page was a picture of a new, upcoming company and its owners.

Out of the four, three of them where males and one female. One was with long silver hair that matched his height. His face had strong features and carried a sense of wisdom and knowledge. The man next to him wasn’t as tall but very close. He, too, had silver hair but that only matched half of his body. His physique was also smaller but his muscles were still noticeable but his face…his face carried a sense of pride but also projected as if he was upset, almost as if he was missing something. The other male surely seemed proud of himself and carried the most quirkiest smile; he was the most different from the other two males, more human like with tied up black hair. Lastly, the female. She was standing next to the uncertain man with one arm looped unto his. A beautiful face to match the fit body. Together they looked as if they have been together for a long time, like a family.

The right page announced that they are hiring for a director for a new department they opened. On it showed a list of qualifications and recommendations that was needed. Trying to read it Kagome couldn’t help but lean further in onto the man all the way to even mildly tripping onto his back.

“Gomen Kudasai!”
“Don’t worry about it,” said a familiar voice.

“Hojo, its you! What are you doing here?”

“Hi Higurashi. Funny meeting you here. I was planning on visiting you this weekend. I’m moving back into town. Things did work out that good after school so I thought I might as well start over. How’ve you been?”

“Fine, its great to see you! You remember my mother,” said Kagome as she halfway turned around, almost even forgetting her mother was right behind her.

“Sure, how are you Mrs.Hiragash,” Hojo said as he extended his hand for hers and giving a polite kiss on the cheek.

“Oh, fine. I’m glad your back. You and Kagome used to be great friend back in high school. You said you were coming over this weekend. If you are still planning to come over I can make a wonderful dish for all of us.”

“Sure, if its alright with the two of you,” Hojo said as he looked at Kagome for a reply.

“Sure, come on over.”

“Great, I’ll be there around six. I’ll see you girls this Friday. It was sure nice seeing you two again, especially you Kagome,” said Hojo as he paid for his items and grabbed his bags.

“Bye!” said both ladies.

“It was sure nice seeing him again wasn’t it dear.”

“I haven’t seen Hojo in years. I’m happy he is back in town.”

“It seems to me like he was really happy to see you again, Kagome.”

“It’s not like that mama, we were good friends back at school that’s all.”

“I wonder if he still thinks of it that way honey.”

“I’m sure he still does mama and by the way I’m getting that magazine,” said Kagome as she went back to the rack to grab the magazine with a smile on her face.
