Upon awakening in the morning
I finally noticed how cold this cheek was

I was looking at nothing but the sky

Sending my thoughts flying to right below those clouds

She fingers a lock of tangerine hair and sighs, the sounds of birds ringing above her head. She realizes she has never stopped to listen to them before now.

 

“Nami! You are my Nakama!”

 

His words ring in her ears, stingingly clear like the songs of birds. Another sigh seems to escape her frowning lips; a shadow blocks the sky.

 

“Nami?”

 

She looks up into raven hair and a hardened face.

 

“Why? Why Luffy?”

 

There is no hesitation in his voice. “How am I supposed to become Pirate King without a navigator?”

 

He smiled; her heart already knew why anyway.

I was looking at nothing but the sky
From the window, at the far distance
