“Sign here.” The man says brusquely, thrusting a packet of papers at him. Red skims it quickly, checking a few boxes, before he hands it back. His eyes are hidden beneath contacts to turn them brown, and he's not wearing his customary red, white, and blue, so he's pretty sure the snotty realtor doesn't recognize him. Otherwise, he's sure his presence as Champion would lend some weight to the transaction, and hopefully the man would be more polite!
It's the first place he's had to call his own. His house in Pallet burned down in a cooking accident, and his mom and dad divorced - she went to Houen and he went journeying, and Red hasn't seen him since, which suits him just fine. Sure, he's got a mini-suite at Indigo Plateau, but he'll lose it if he ever loses his position as Champion, so it's not secure, not at all.
Besides, he wants to have a house far away from prying eyes, which is why he's chosen one in Lavender Town. Few people like to live there. That means no one will notice if he has certain visitors
Three weeks later, he's watching T.V. when a knock comes at the door, and he grins, because Lance has come for him. He invites her in, and beams when he sees the hamper of goodies she has.

“Is it too late for a housewarming party?” She teases.
“No, not at all,” He hugs her as soon as she puts the basket down. Solitude is nice, and he did finish reading several books, but he misses her company.
She brought him honey-glazed ham and Tupperware containers full of baked goods, with a few vegetables thrown in. He sighs in rapture as he opens a box with a square of raspberry chocolate cake inside.
“Did you miss me?” Lance asks.
“Of course,” Red snuggles into her arms. “No one could ever replace you.”
She smiles.

After a minute, he looks at her. “Do you want to move in with me?”
Lance stares at him in disbelief.
He gets down on one knee, and holds out a black velvet box, opening it to reveal a simple silver ring. “Will you marry me?”
“This is so sudden…” She breathes.
“I was waiting until we could be together, privately.” Red admits. For that, he needed money for a house…
She accepts the ring, although she warns him not to rush. They will have a few months as fiancées, to get used to the idea.
However, this is more than he hoped for, and they snuggle together on the couch, and look to the future.
