Note: Usual disclaimer applies here. Sailor Moon and Pokémon belongs
to respective companies. I'm very grateful for your positive
responses. I can finally finish this story in one piece. Sorry for the
delay and thank you again especially Sailor Dumas for remembering me!

Recaps from Part 7: Sailor Pluto was set free and resumed her search
for Sailor Venus. Misty tries to get Mina confess her feelings for
Brock. Mina and Brock's friendship deepens.

Part 8: Fading Out:

The celebration went with a bang. Tonight, the festival was in a full
swing. Fireworks blazed into the night. The whole town anticipated
with excitement. A trail of lights shone through the streets. There
were full of people shouting with joy and laughter.

The moon glowed and the stars twinkled in the heavens. All was still
and quiet except for the crickets chirping nearby. It was a deserted
hour at this time of night where no humans ventured in the meadows
outside of town. A few pokémon came out to play in the moonlight.
Their fun time was halted when a pidgeotto squawked out a warning! It
sounded like a dull roar of thunder tearing across the skies. A
swirling vortex was formed and a dark, sinister shadow emerged from
it. The strange figure was alone in the darkness and scanning the area
with interest. It was none other than Grim Reaper himself...

He released Sailor Venus' wink chain sword from his hand and floated
in the air directing to the Calypso Valley ahead. He nodded his head
in satisfaction. "At last, Sailor Venus. I've finally found you and
this time, you won't escaped from me so easily!!!" He said, smiling
triumphantly. Adding to his irritation, he heard the annoying noise
behind him. He came face to face with a few pokemon staring curiously
at him. His cold, unforgiving eyes flashed...

"Come on Brock, you can do it!" Mina cheered him on, clapping her
hands together. She stood next to him on a game booth.

Brock concentrated on a moving target of a mechanical psychduck. He
tightened his grip on the ball and aimed for the intended target. The
ball zoomed by and firing right through the bullseye!

"Alright!" Brock shouted excitedly. Mina applauded and congratulated
him.

"We have a winner!" The man announced, beating his drum. He gave Brock
a cute Clefairy stuffed toy as a prize. Brock handed over the prize to
Mina.

"Thank you," Mina said sincerely, kissing him lightly on the lips.

"Uh.... You're welcome...." Brock stammered from the kiss and looking
down on the ground. A secret smiled played upon his lips. He crossed
his fingers behind his back and wished silently not to cause
embarrassment in front of Mina.

"For the first time in my life," Thinking to himself. "Things are
finally going right for me and it's all because of her...." He raised
his head again and gave her one of his biggest smile. He couldn't felt
any happier than this.

Mina smiled back nervously. The effects of the aftershocks from the
dance lingered on her. Confusion ran through her thoughts. "Say
something stupid! Brock is going to think you're complete idiot! But
what can I say to him? Am I certain about my feelings for him or does
this change everything? I'm in the only one who can answer that..."

Hand in hand, they left the game booth in total silence and explored
the rest of the festival together. An evident of shyness came over
them. They could sense the tension between them. They sneakily peeked
and caught themselves spying. Their faces now covered in scarlet red.
Luckily, they arrived in the parade in a nick of time but the large
crowd blocked the view of the parade.

"I can't see anything!" Mina complained to Brock.

"Leave everything to me!" Brock said confidently. He took out his
pokéball and threw the item on the ground. A large rock type pokémon
sprang out and gave a huge growl.

"Hey Onix, can you give us a lift if you don't mind? We can't see the
parade from here?" Brock asked. Onix nodded obediently and bent his
whole body down. Brock reared himself up behind Onix and his hands
reached out to Mina.

She took his hand and he pulled her up carefully. She sat at the
front. Onix rose from the ground and the rocky movement made Mina
loose her balance. She gave a shriek of fright but a hand went around
her waist saving her from falling.

"Hang in there," Brock whispered near her ear.

"Thanks," She said gratefully. Her cheeks blushed from her clumsiness.
She leaned back against him and caressed his arm along her waist. They
gave each other one last look and smiled, saying nothing. They watched
the parade together, cheering loudly along with the crowd.

"So what now geniuses? How do we propose to capture Pikachu this
time?" Meowth asked his team members while they were riding on the hot
air balloon.

"Oh shut up and be quiet!!" Jessie said moodily, "My brain is still
racking for some answers!!" Her head turned sideways and saw James
looking through his binoculars. "Any luck finding those twerps yet?"
She asked. James shook his head sadly.

"Oh great, I have to be stuck with these two while those people are
having so much fun!!" Meowth thought jealously, watching the Calypso
Valley as it passed by. "I say we should pack and leave. I don't want
to be hanging around in the dark when there's something lurking out
there!" He shuddered, recalling the incident over two nights ago.

"Please don't remind me that again" James moaned, lightly touching the
bandage on his forehead. "It hurts to much to think!"

"Well, aren't you the afraidy cat?!" Jessie said sarcastically,
couldn't help smirking back.

"Look, who's talking. I wasn't the one who was practically screaming
like a big baby. Admit it Jessie, you were scared half to death that
night too!" Meowth said accusingly. Jessie could only fumed in anger.

"Don't you think we should concentrate on more important matters like
capturing a certain pokémon, Pikachu?" Jessie said angrily.

"Sheesh," Meowth muttered, "Did anyone ever told you what a slave
driver you are!!"
"What did you say?!" Jessie said threateningly, "Take that back!"

"Hey guys, take a good at this!" James said, interrupting the
quarrel. He spied with his binoculars. "But I can't make something out
of it."
"What?" His teammates asked eagerly.

"There." James pointing to a strange light emanating at the far edge
of the town. The light revealed a shadowy figure.

"What was that!" Meowth exclaimed, peering closely.

"It could be the twerps!" James answered.

"I don't think so," Jessie shook her head. "There's four of them
including Pikachu. There's something going on over there. Let's a have
a look."

"It could be a rare pokémon," James said greedily, rubbing his hands
together.

"Are you sure that's safe to check?" Meowth asked, frowning. "There's
too many weird things happening lately. It could be an alien
conspiracy or something."

"Alien conspiracy? You're a laugh riot Meowth!" James began to hoot
with laughter.

"And besides, we're Team Rocket remember? We laugh at the face of
danger!" Jessie declared.

"That's what I'm afraid of," Meowth said, looking doubtful.

Grim Reaper looked up at the sky and saw a hot air balloon flying over
to his direction. His mind flashed before his eyes showing three
passengers on board. Two humans and a strange looking white cat.

"Humans", He thought disgustedly. "Such busy bodies!" He teleported
and dissappeared in sight.

"Where did it go?" Team Rocket wailed. The hot air balloon made a safe
landing.

"Silence now are we?" Grim Reaper asked.

Team Rocket gasped in surprise to see Grim Reaper floated above
them...

"What is this bad feeling coming from?" Mina wondered. "I don't see
the danger around here." She watched the parade floats passing on the
street. Her vision turned black and white. She felt her skin prickling
at the base of her neck and back. Her body stiffened sensing an
tremendous evil power somewhere...

"What's happening to me?" Mina became agitated, agonizing the fear in
her voice. She covered her face both of her hands.

"Mina, Mina. What's wrong?" Brock said, repeating the question. He
looked very alarmed. "Onix, we better leave! Mina's not feeling well."
He instructed to his rock pokémon. Onix roared and slid away.

"Are you feeling alright now?" Brock asked once they settled on a hill
overlooking the panoramic view of the whole Calypso Valley. Onix was
beside them, sleeping peacefully.

"I don't know what came over me..." Mina said, shaking a little. She
took a deep breath and inhaled the fresh air.

"Don't worry about it, everything is going to be fine." Brock
reassured her, putting his arms around her waist and pulled her
closer. She placed her head next to his shoulder.

"You've been really good to me Brock. I don't know how to thank you
enough." Mina said gratefully.

"No need to thank me, miss. It's all part of the job!!" He gave her a
sly wink. Mina laughed and leaned over to kissed him impulsively.

"What was that for?" He sounded surprised. His cheeks reddened.

"For being yourself," She replied smiling, stroking his flushed cheek.

"I...I'm not that great!" Brock said modestly, scratching the back of
his head.

"Of course you are," Mina said gently. "You are the most thoughtful,
caring and smart guy I've ever met. "
"Thanks. You're the first girl that ever said nice things about me..."
Brock admitted sheepishly.

Mina felt her heart quenched in sympathy. She laid her hand next to
Brock. She smiled. "Don't feel bad about what those girl said about
you tonight. They don't know what a special person you are. You're
lucky you have a good friends like Ash and Misty who appreciates you
better."

"They can be annoying though and stubborn sometimes but other than
that they're good pals to hang out with." He answered. Then, he began
to speak in serious tone. "I know they like to kid around sometimes
but they never meant to hurt anyone. I get angry if they overboard
with their teasing. I guess they wouldn't understand an easygoing guy
like me shouldn't have any problems. Sorry, I didn't mean to get
carried away." He apologized.

"That's okay, I'm glad you told me." Mina said gently.

"Thanks for listening. It's been awhile I opened up to someone." Brock
murmured, "I never thought it could get only when you're travelling
with your closest friends. The faith I have in my pokémon makes me a
stronger person. I spent most of my time raising them that lead my
interest to become the world's best breeder."

"I think that's a great dream and you'll have a bright future ahead
for you." She said. "I'm not so sure about mine," She added
skeptically. She took out her wallet and flipped it opened. She gazed
painfully at the photos of herself and the rest of the sailor scouts.
"Are these friends of yours," He asked.

"I don't know who these people are but deep down inside me knows they
cared for me and might be looking right now." She said wistfully.
Brock saw the far away look in her eyes.

"I see," He said quietly. "Maybe it's for the best that she goes back
to where she came from. But if she leaves, I will never be able to see
her again." He thought disappointedly to himself.

"Brock, is there something wrong?" Mina questioned anxiously. There
seemed to be awkwardness passed between them.

"No, nothing's wrong.." He answered her non-chalantly. He hid the
sadness behind him.

Mina said nothing. There was a questioning look on her face.

* * *

" I don't know who you are!" Jessie shouted, annoyed by Grim Reaper's
harsh laugh. "You can't scare us that easily because we're the famous
Team Rocket..."

"Oh no, she just had to be open her big mouth does she?" Meowth said
mournfully.

"Well, well. This little human wants to play does she?" Grim Reaper
sneered, "You dare challenge me? Go on then! I'm waiting!!"

"We'll see who has the last laugh!" Jessie held out her pokéball in
her hand and was about to throw but a hand stopped her.

"Wait Jessie," James said, whispering. "I don't think it's a good idea
for us to be hanging around here."

"He's right!" Meowth agreed, "Let's go home and forget this whole
fiasco."

"What are you chickens?!?" Jessie said furiously. "We came here to
capture a rare pokémon and we'll stay here until we do!! Got that?"

"But I don't even think it's a pokémon!" James wailed.

"Urghh, come on!" Jessie hissed impatiently. She grabbed her friends
and dragged them away.

"Why me??" Meowth said sadly.

She released her friends and cowardly ran behind her back for safely.
It was a face off between Jessie and Grim Reaper. She looked smug as
ever with her pokéball bouncing in her hand.

"Get ready to be humiliated!!" Jessie exclaimed, "Go Arbok! Poison
sting!!" Arbok popped out of his pokéball and charged towards Grim
Reaper with his mouth wide open.

Grim Reaper smirked and pushed his hand forward. Arbok stopped mid-air
and found himself levitating off the ground.

Jessie's face was shattered. "Tha....That's impossible!!" James and
Meowth were speechless.

Grim Reaper dropped his hand down. Arbok slammed to the ground and
knocked unconsciously. Jessie cried out in horror and ran towards to
Arbok. "My poor Arbok!" She said sadly, cuddling her pokémon in her
arms.

"My turn." Grim Reaper said. He struck his weapon to the ground. The
whole ground trembled violently. The earth shifted in half and there
was a deep chasm below. Team Rocket slipped off and plunged into the
pit. Meowth managed to hang on to dear life with his strong claws
clinging on to the sides. He watched in a stunned disbelief to see his
friends disappeared. He made a quick escaped to freedom

The shock wave of the earthquake rocked the town of Calypso Valley.
Panic-stricken, the citizens and guests fled in terror hoping to find
a shelter nearby. Ash, Misty, Brock and Mina were nowhere to be seen.

* * *

"Choki! Choki! Pree!!" Togepi said fearfully, little arms waving out
in desperation.

"Pi! Pi! Pi! (Everything is going to be okay!)" Pikachu said gently,
enclosing his friend around his arms protectively.

"Jiggly, Jigglypuff!! (I don't think I can take much more of this!!)"
Jigglypuff complained. She braced herself against the table.

"Bulba! Bulba! (Here's come another one)!!" Bulbasaur screamed. The
whole room shook with such intensity. The cupboards flung opened and
kitchen items fell to the ground. The door banged loudly and the
ceiling lights grew dimmer. All the pokémon hid underneath the dining
table.

"Eveee...eveeee...(Stop this madness!!)" Eevee said, chanting a little
prayer.

Mina's crystal transformation pen rolled out to the floor and it
hovered in the air. The shaking stopped. Everything went back to
normal.

They opened their eyes slowly and gazed into the most beautiful sight
they ever seen. Mina's crystal pen radiated in a yellow orange colour.
Jigglypuff approached it and her hands reached out to touch it. The
light from the crystal faded slowly and went back to floor.

"Squirt?? Squirtle?? (What happened here?)" Squirtle asked.

"Pika!! Pika!! (Whatever it is, it's a micracle)" Pikachu answered.
