Jen found Ryoga standing next to a crumbled building, looking extremely lost, confused,
and depressed.

"Yo, Ryoga! I'm over here! Damn, we've got to do something to keep you from
wandering off and getting lost. This is not a good place to get lost in, you know.", she
said as she approached.

They turned as they heard a roar behind them. Ryoga's eyes widened in surprise and a
little fear as a huge white tiger bounded up to them and stopped, nudging Jen's hand.

"Oh, hi, White Blaze.", she said with a smile, then noticed that Ryoga was looking at the
big cat warily.

"Oh, don't worry about him, Ryoga. He won't hurt you unless you're one of those
Dynasty goons. If you were, he would've attacked you on sight.", she said, then paused for a
second. "You're not, are you? I mean, you did appear from out of nowhere."

Ryoga looked at Jen nervously, sweating profusely, as she reached up to one of the twin swords attached to the back of her armor.

"O-o-of course I'm not!", he exclaimed, his voice rising in pitch to nervous levels, frantically waving his hands in front of himself.

"Good.", Jen said with a sardonic smirk as she lowered her hand, fighting back the urge to break
down into laughter at Ryoga's relieved sigh. He noticed Jen's expression go from slightly
amused to deadly serious as her eyes suddenly shifted to look off to the right. She felt
nervousness invade her guts as she sensed the demons approaching. She turned to Ryoga with a
solemn expression on her face.

"The Dynasty's coming. They're just far enough away that we can still get away without having
to fight. Without the others here, I'd rather not get into another fight against the Dynasty.", she
explained as she climbed onto the tiger's back, then offered a hand to Ryoga. "Climb on. This is
the fastest way we can escape from the tin cans and get you back to Nerima. It's also the only
way I can think of to keep us together."

"Okay, sounds like a good idea.", Ryoga said as he took her hand and accepted her assistance in
climbing onto White Blaze's back, settling down behind Jen.

"Okay, now hold on, he runs pretty fast.", she said, then gave White Blaze the go ahead to start
running. Ryoga barely had enough time to get a secure hold on Jen's armor before White Blaze
took off running with a roar.

They travelled for several minutes before Jen sensed demons in front of them.

"Uh-oh, looks like we're going to have to fight after all. Unless...White Blaze, turn left at the
next intersection(because, they are in a city, after all)!", she shouted to be heard over the wind
caused by White Blaze's speed. Ryoga gripped the armor tighter to keep from getting thrown off,
as White Blaze made a sudden left turn.

When Jen felt that they were safe, and noticed that it was beginning to get dark(well, darker,
anyway), she had White Blaze stop.

"Okay, we're safe now. We can stop in that building over there for the night.", she said, pointing
to an empty building.

"Now, follow me. No, wait...give me your hand.", she said, grabbing Ryoga's hand and leading
him over to the building. The building was another abandoned office building. Its occupants
were most likely captured by the Dynasty when it invaded again, this time under Isis' leadership.

She walked over to the security desk in the lobby and sat down in one of the chairs, and Ryoga
sat down in the other.

"So, we're staying here for the night?", he inquired and Jen nodded.

"Yes. It's safer to move when it's light out. I really don't want to have to fight a night battle
where my opponent actually has the advantage.", she said as she stood. She closed her eyes in
concentration as she crossed her arms over her chest, her armor disappearing and leaving her in
the red and white subarmor of Wildfire.

She sat back down with a tired sigh.

"There, much better.", she said, brushing runaway strands of her black hair out of her face. It fell
down to her shoulders, and had an untamed look to it. Ryoga looked his new friend over and saw
that, under the bulky armor, she was slender and not unattractive(no, he's not going to fall in
love with her...he's still madly in love with Akane -_-). Peering closer at her face, he noticed a
faint scar under her left eye.
~Must be from one of her battles.~, he thought as he settled down into the chair. When he
looked over at her again, she was already asleep.

~She must be exhausted from all the fighting. I must admit that she is a good fighter, for a
warrior who depends on weapons. Maybe I'll show her how to improve her hand to hand skills.
If those swords of hers get knocked away during a fight, she'd be almost helpless. That's a
definite disadvantage.~, he thought as he yawned sleepily and drifted off.

*********************************************
Jen found herself in a frozen wasteland, hearing an extremely familiar laugh.

"Isis! I know that's you! Show yourself!", she shouted as she unsheathed her swords.

"Of course I will, Wildfire.", Isis said as she appeared, smiling malevolently, from a swirl of
snow.

"And now, you shall meet your doom. You know that I'm perfectly at home in the cold!", the
Dark Warlady said as she suddenly grew to about 15 feet. She unsheathed her swords and sliced
the air with one of them, sending a blast of snow and ice at Jen, who tried to block with her
swords, but the attack was too powerful. So, she closed her eyes and hoped that she'd survive the
attack.

When she opened them again, she was frozen in ice up to her waist, her arms pinned at her sides.

"Damn. Let me go, Isis!", she shouted, causing Isis to laugh malevolently.

"No, I won't let you go. In fact, now is the time when you will die!", she shouted as she ran at
the trapped Ronin, one of her swords poised to strike. Jen frantically tried to free herself by
calling on the power of her armor, but Wildfire was totally silent due to the cold. So, she did the
only thing she could think of...she opened her mouth to scream...
*************************************************
Ryoga snapped awake at the scream next to him. He looked over at Jen, and noticed that she
seemed to be fighting an invisible enemy. He quickly got up and grabbed her by the shoulders,
gently shaking her awake.

"Jen! Wake up! You're having a nightmare!", he shouted, hoping that it was loud enough to cut
through whatever she was dreaming.

Her eyes snapped open, wide with panic.

"Isis is nearby.", she managed to gasp out as she forced herself to calm down.

"Are you okay?", Ryoga asked, concern in his voice.

'Yeah, I think so.", she replied. "Though, I don't think I'll be able to get back to sleep. You go
back to sleep, I'll keep watch. Armor of Wildfire! Dao Jin!"

Fully armored again, she unsheathed one of her swords and headed for the door. Ryoga watched
her, then got his umbrella from the top of his pack and walked over next to her.

"I'll keep watch with you.", he said, totally serious, and Jen smiled faintly in reply.

"Thanks. I suppose we could at least have some tea. The sun won't be up for hours. We might as
well try to enjoy this break.", she said as she sat down just inside the door, watching the street
outside.

"Okay, I'll make some tea, then.", Ryoga said as he went off in search in search of a water
fountain with which to fill his tea kettle. Luckily, there was one within eyesight of the security
desk.

To be continued...

A/N: When I started this, my train of thought actually derailed a few minutes after I started it,
then I couldn't keep writing for a few days. So, this is slightly changed from my original plan for
this. The nightmare scene was actually a spur of the moment thing.

Until next chapter...ja ne!
