Sister's Love

-Phoenix-

She's calling to me. I can feel her nearby. Not just in my dreams. I see her everywhere. I can't tell mom. She won't believe me. She would probably hit me again. No. I have to know the truth. Is it really Katie? Or is it another trap? I have to know.

I lay awake in bed.

“Katie? Katie? Where are you?”

What was I expecting? She's not a ghost. My sister is still alive. But where is she?

“Are you there? Give me a sign.” What am I doing?

Tap. Tap. Tap.

I lifted my head. There was nothing at my window. I don't move.

“Hello?”

Tap. Tap. Tap.

There's someone out there. I'm not falling for that again. Let them come to me. If they want me, they will have to come and take me. I puffed up my cheeks. Come on, you bastards. Enough with the games. Come out and show yourself!

Tap. Tap. Tap.

I clenched my teeth. Come on. Come get me. What's stopping you?

“Don't!”

I tried to move but my body was held in place. Here it came.

A pair brown eyes looked down at me. Wait… I know her!

“Katie?”

That didn't come out of my mouth. It was my voice. Invisible fingers touched my cheek.

“Listen to me. Time is running out. I don't have long.”

My eyes widened. “It is you! Where did you go? Why did you leave us?”

“There's no time for that!”

I looked confused. “What do you mean? What's going on?” An invisible hand covered my mouth. My hands held me down.

“Katie?! What are you doing?!”

“I'm so sorry!”

“What?!” The grip tightened on my body. I thought I was going to choke. I looked into those eyes. They looked so… sad. Were they crying? It felt like it. Now, I'm crying. I felt tears run down my cheeks. I can't explain it, but my heart hurts. For who? Katie? Me? Mom? All of us?

I heard her say one thing before vanishing from my mind.

“Come with me!”

My soul separated from my body. When I looked down, my body was lying there unmoving. I think my eyes were still open. I didn't get time to look. I ended up being yanked into thin air.
