Raid Mission

Omi and Phoenix aren't all alone. Saito sat in the car, waiting. He looked behind him.

“Ready to do this?” he asked. Phoenix nodded once.

“Yes,” she said. “Let's do this!” Saito put the car in drive.

Omi sat at his computer. They were on a time crunch here. They had one night to do this.

“Can we do that?” Phoenix asked.

“We can try,” Omi said.

The car left the city. The assassin tracked them on his computer. It should take two or three hours to get to the mountains. Omi ran the plans in his head. Get to the mountain, find the door, get inside, and work from there. He kept his eyes on the screen. They were still moving. Good, good. The boy took a breath. His phone rang.

“Where am I going?” Saito asked. The hacker looked on the map.

“Keep going straight,” he said.

“Okay,” the therapist said. He kept driving.

Saito and Phoenix pulled up to the mountain on time.

“Thank you,” Phoenix said. She climbed out of the car.

“Are you there?” Omi asked over the mic.

“Yeah,” she said. “What do I do now?”

“Walk down the dirt path,” he said.

“Okay,” Phoenix said. She walked down the path. The girl had a baseball bat in her hand. Was it enough? The girl didn't know. She was going to try. Anything to live. Phoenix kept walking. Her footsteps felt heavier.

“Where is the door?” she asked.

“Just go ahead,” Omi said. You know when you see it.”

“Okay,” Phoenix said. She kept walking. The girl lifted her eyes. There it was.

There were no knobs or groves. It stood made of steel. Phoenix reached out to touch it.

“Don't!” Omi said. The girl froze.

“What is it?” she asked.

“The steel,” he said. “It's so could that it will burn you.”

“So how do I get in?”

“Do you see a keypad?”

Phoenix looked around on the door. She paused for a moment.

“Yeah.”

“Good. Walk up to it. I will give you the code.”

“Okay.” She walked up to the door.

“What about me?” Saito asked.

“Just stay there,” Omi said over the phone. “We'll need you soon.”

“Can I hang up?” the therapist asked.

“Yeah,” the hacker said.

“Thanks,” the therapist said. He hung up.

“I found it,” Phoenix said.

“Okay,” Omi said. “The code is 7734.”

“Heh,” she said. She punched in the number code. Click!

The door slid open. Phoenix took a step back.

“Okay, I'm going in. Wish me luck,” she said.

“Good luck. I will be with you,” Omi said. The girl marched through the open door. It slid closed behind her.

“What am I looking for?” she asked.

“I don't know yet,” Omi said. “Just keep walking.”

“Right…” she said. Phoenix began her walk down the hall.

Saito sat in the car waiting.
