But watching was not enough to soothe the desire the sight of the sweet play of light and shadow had inspired, and Atemu grimaced. He'd stayed calm enough to see and enjoy their love by stroking himself, but he wanted more, and as a Pharaoh, as a god, he would get it, even from himselves. And as they were he, would they not feel it too?

Kkwy lay beneath Heba, his eyes glazed as he smiled. Heba whispered to him sweetly, and kissed his hair, his mouth, his eyelids, before sliding down so his head lay on Kkwy's chest. Kkwy raised a hand to softly stroke his hair.

Heba sighed happily, and the shadows in Heba's eyes lightened, brightened by his soul and his love as they whispered to each other in their souls.

In their soul.

Atemu hissed, trying to allow himself that moment of peace after greatest suffering.

Heba smiled sweetly at him, and beckoned him over to them. Atemu came over to them on the bed, kneeling to the side of them and lightly touched Kkwy's face, marveling again at this power so willingly tamed.

He wondered at this, his own Shadow Power within him, controlling him when justice must be decided by a game and tightly controlled by him when mercy must be bestowed.

And this was the light of his mercy, the divine soul within him, he thought as his hand traced the slender muscles of Heba's chest. How… heavenly.

The other gods must have sent him this, he knew, to warn him he would suffer and remind him that he was a god, that he could bear it. He knew there was evil abroad in the land, a miasma infecting the court, a scourge devouring villages without trace. But… he would defeat it. How could he not?

Heba shifted again, nestled atop Kkwy, and frowned a little, beckoning him closer, beckoning him to lay with them, be with them, and he could feel that pull, that yearning not only of the body but of their soul. Yearning for its aspects as they yearned for his completeness.

He lay on his side to the side of them, chest resting on their sides and hissed again as Heba shifted closer, so that his shaft was lightly caged between his soft body and Kkwy's muscled one.

Heba smiled at that, then pouted a little, cutely, and shifted so his front and not his back lay on Kkwy, who moaned at the movement, clearly hardening again at the movement and at sweet wicked Heba's thoughts.

Atemu was glad to oblige, and thrusted between them as Heba also pressed forward, hissing again at the feeling of their slick, warm, soft skin.

Heba also made a little noise of pleasure, and Kkwy moaned, reaching his hands to wrap around Heba and Atemu and hold them too him. Their hands also reached and held, pulling tighter, wanting closer as they moved together, yearning for each other, and he could almost feel his soul slip out of his body and mingle with theirs, rejoin itself…

He did not know how long it lasted, the feeling might have made him come on the instant or he could have bathed in it for an eternity, it felt like either, it felt like both, but the moment ended and they lay there, panting.

Heba made another happy sound and snuggled up to them, getting comfortable, and their grips loosened enough to not leave bruises, their hands and bodies relaxing as they drifted off to sleep, their souls soothed by the brief union, the craving eased.

Atemu thought his eyes had barely closed when he was awakened by a falling sensation. Normally, a rude awakening would have sent him scrambling for distance and a weapon, but he felt strangely at peace, instantly fully awake and rested.

A soft light glowed in the east. The light before dawn had arrived and Heba was fading.

Atemu's eyes widened and he lay still as his body fell into Heba's as he softened, fading away as light flooded into the room. Becoming one with the light… he saw Kkwy's eyes widen, starting to panic, before he started to fade as well.

For shadow cannot exist without light. The old lesson echoed in his head as he watched, fascinated, as Kkwy's eyes calmed as his spirit and body followed Heba's to the future they had come from.

In the last few instants, Atemu let his eyes close, concentrating on the feeling of falling through mist, through shadow, before he sank through onto the linens, and stayed there, eyes closed and concentrating on the memory as it slipped away.

This should have frightened him, but he was so at peace… and the fear was erased before it began, and the memory of the memory and its loss taken away as well, though the peace remained, and the knowledge of a challenge, and the will to overcome it.

Atemu shook himself awake. The Pharaoh could not lie abed at dawn. He had to attend open court today, to deal justice to the people who came before him, and vengeance upon the criminals. He had to mend with a strong rule the damage his father's forbearance and trust had wrought upon the sacred land. He had to let it be known that there would be swift justice, tempered with mercy but not ruled by it.

He had to ensure there would be the peace his father had dreamed of.

He summoned his attendants and was adorned as befitted a god for another day of his rule.

But only he could place the Millennium Puzzle, memento of his father and symbol of his rule around his neck. Only the worthy could hold the sacred Items.

And half an age later and half a world away, Yugi and Yami gazed at the Millennium Puzzle atop Yugi's desk and at each other in soft wonder and quiet worry as their hands reached and held.

…this was their love. Forever.
