Biography:Rest In Peace, Jewel. You were the best dog in the world.

April 15, 1997 - October 29, 2006

Age: 9 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Reason for being put to sleep: Kidney failure, spots on lungs, not eating, could not get up.

Jewel was a Seiberian Husky/White Shepard mix. She was my birthday present when I turned 7 on May 16. I am 16 now. She was a very calm, and gentle dog. She loved to play, talk to me and my mom, sing Happy Birthday and run in the snow. Her favorite treat was Cheese. When it came to food, she was very picky, wanting to smell it before eating it, unlike most dogs, who would eat it without a second thought. We noticed something was wrong with her in the summer. She had a hard time getting up the stairs. We figured it was because she was getting old. But as time progressed, she started only eating a little bit, before denying it completely. We thought it was because she was just picky. We noticed something was seriously wrong with her on Thursday, October 26th. She couldn't go to the bathroom, and she didn't want to get up. On the morning of Sunday, October 29th, we took her to the Emergency Vet around the corner from my house. They took tests and blood work, and found spots on her lungs, and discovered her kidneys were failing, allowing protien to be taken out of her body from her urine. We knew then that we had to put her down, so she wouldn't suffer anymore. It was a very hard thing to deal with, and it still is, but in my heart I know we did the right thing. In 2 weeks, she will be cremated and her ashes will be brought to us. My family and I are deeply hurt by this loss, but we know she is okay now, that she's not suffering anymore.

Jewel, you were the best dog anyone could ask for. I miss you deeply and greatly. I pray that you find peace in Doggie Heaven with all our other dogs.
