Artist's Commentary
Pensive, oneiric Liesel and tough, eloquent Altheus are a fratello team devised by yours truly. I featured this deadly duo in several of my Gunslinger Girl fanfics (readily accessible from my profile page). I originally intended for Liesel to be a vision of pre-adolescent cuteness like Angelica or Henrietta, but eventually opted for a hard-edged, almost dangerous look like Elsa's. The overall effect I achieved was one of sinister elegance, which I now admit is far better than than the adorable appearance I initially had in mind. Lauro and Pietro Fermi served as a rough draft for Altheus' appearance. This artwork was done on paper in black ballpoint pen and colored pencils. |
