Blinking against the slivers of hazy gold light that slowly crept into the room, Taigo yawned, stretched and slowly rose from his erratic slumber. It was 5am-way too early for any sane person to to be awake. For the young surgeon, though, it was a way of life. In less than an hour, he'd be cutting people open, reaching in and curing whatever ails them, prolonging lives, saving lives and perhaps even welcoming a life into the world. All in a day's work. "Hmmm..." He jumped slightly, feeling the woman lying next to him shift in her sleep. Her back to him, she rested her weary head on her pillow and soon settled down. A wry smile crossed Taigo's lips. He hated this part of the morning: tearing himself from the comfort of that cosy futon, away from the warmth of her skin and the lingering scent of apples in her hair. With a low sigh he turned on his side, stealing away a few precious seconds more as he gently kissed Shasta's shoulder. "I'll see you tonight. Dream of me, okay?" he whispered gently in her ear.
