Afterthought
He'd only seen her once.
There had been twists in the events leading up to the climax: they'd fought the battle with an unexpected ally. But he'd stolen her heart, and she said her goodbyes, and she left.
He saw her once afterwards, a smile on her face as her dark hair shone in the bright sun. She'd dressed in fire, a wary color. She was laughing, her arms hooked onto someone else's and she turned.
She saw him. Her cool blue eyes met his dark grey ones, and for a moment she just stared there, but he, the one she'd run off with, pulled her attention back, and she smiled warmly.
And he moved on sadly, but he moved on. Because he'd never get to taste her, to weight her name on his tongue out. Because all he'd ever be to her now was an afterthought.
Authoress Notes:
I'm an avid Zuko/Katara fan, but you've gotta admit Aang/Katara is kind of cute.
I'm filled with fluff as of late.
