Chapter 33

"A Friend's Farewell?"

The Next Day at School…

"Look Joey," said Tea. "I'm really sorry." She and Joey walked towards class.

"Yeah, I guess we shouldn't have me made a big fuss over it."

"Wait a minute!" exclaimed Tea. "We?"

"Yeah." Answered Joey.

"I didn't make a big fuss!"

Joey started to talk in a girly tone. "Oh, I want strawberries! Put them on Yugi! HELLO! NOTICE ME!"

"KNOCK IT OFF!" yelled Tea. "And besides, that had nothing to with our argument, so I get crazy without strawberries, it's normal."

"Yeah, right."

"You're right." Said Tea looking down. "I'm not normal, I'm a freak!"

Joey felt guilt. "No you're not, I'm sorry, there, we're even."

"Ok."

At Lunch…

"So you and Tea made up?" asked Sakura.

"Yeah." Replied Joey.

"You don't seem to be happy about it."

"I have to tell you something." Whispered Joey.

"What is it?"

"Well, I kind of, have a tiny crush on Tea," said Joey. Sakura stared at him. "Really?"

"Only a little."

"How little?"

"Microscopic." Said Joey quickly.

"Right!" exclaimed Sakura. She obviously didn't believe him. "So, you got a job at Pizza Palace?"

"Yeah. But guess what?"

"What?" asked Sakura.

"So does Tea." Answered Joey.

Tea came out of line and sat down with the both of them. "Sakura," said Tea kindly. "Can I talk to Joey alone?"

"Sure." Answered Sakura. She left.

"Look Joey, I overheard you conversation."

"WHAT?"

"About you liking me. Well, to tell you the truth, I would've been happy a month ago, since I liked you then."

Joey didn't want to hear the next sentence.

"But, I am now Kaiba's girlfriend. So my feelings changed."

There was silence.

"Just wanted to let you know."

Silence.

"Ok?''

Silence.

"Joey!"

"All right."

"Good. So, we're friends?"

"Yeah, I guess." Answered Joey.

"Oh, I totally forgot to tell you, I'm the new assistant manager in Pizza Palace!"

"What? But I was trying hard for that job!"

"So? At least one of us got it! I won't be as bossy as Mr. Conaski, I promise!"
"Ok."

A Week Later…

Sakura and Tomoyo were talking on the phone.

"So, now that Tea knows, Joey has been asking her on a date, but she never says yes. Joey has not learned yet!" exclaimed Sakura.

"Yeah. But Joey likes her a lot." Said Tomoyo.

At Yugi's House…

"I GOT FIRED!" yelled Tea.

"Why?" asked Yugi.

"Because Joey left the freezer open all night!"
"He did? But, wouldn't he get in trouble?"

"If our boss knew, I kind of told him it was me."

Yugi gasped.

Joey came inside the house. "Hey!"

"Hi." Replied Tea weakly.

In the Morning…

"Hey Tea, why aren't you going to work?" asked Joey.

"I-I got fired." Answered Tea crying.

"Oh. You know what? I'm going to quit!"

"I'm not going to be your girlfriend!"

Joey looked at his watch. "Oh no! I'm going to be late for work!"

"Jerk!" cried Tea.
Joey looked down. "I'm sorry Tea. You're right, I'm a huge jerk, since the day I was born. That's why I'm going to Tokyo next week."

"What?" asked Tea and Yugi at the same time.

"I'm not needed here. I'm going to quit." Joey went outside.

"Joey!" Tea exclaimed.

"Yeah?" asked Joey.

"Don't leave." Said Yugi. "I know you don't have powers, but you are needed."

"Yeah? For what?"

"To support us." Answered Yugi.

Joey became angry. "That's it? That's why I'm needed? To you guys, I'm just a big pile of crap!" yelled Joey slamming the door.

Tea and Yugi looked down.

"I can't believe he's going to leave.'' Said Tea with tears in her eyes.

"Yeah." Replied Yugi.

A Week Later At the Airport…

"Well, here's my plane." Said Joey.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay?" asked Tomoyo.

"Nah! You guys don't need me." Answered Joey.

Tomoyo hugged him. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"Remember our talk when we went underground?"

"Yeah."

"For that."

Sakura stepped up. "Bye Joey. I'm going to miss you."

"Same here."

That's how it went for Yugi and the rest. Tea was last. She walked up to Yugi with a red rose. "Here, I know these are your favorites. (I don't know if that's true, but I'm putting it as his favorite)."

Joey and Tea had tears in their eyes.

"Thank you." Said Joey. He hugged her.

"So, the little punk is leaving, that's great." Said a shadow. It was Kaiba.

"Goodbye Kaiba, everyone." He went to the line (where you give the tickets to.)

The gang left.

At Diamond's Space Colony…

Diamond entered inside Syaoran's cell. "Why, hello." He said nicely.

"What are you up to?" spat Syaoran.

Diamond laughed. "Goody, you're right on track. Guess what? Your little friend Joey is leaving for Tokyo!"

"And?" asked Syaoran.

Diamond laughed again. "Aw, now you're off," He turned on the television. "Since he's not protected, I make his plane… disappear."

Syaoran gasped. "What?"

There was silence.

"ANSWER ME!"

"I guess he's a good friend to you. Well, I'll make you a deal."

"What kind of deal?" asked Syaoran.

Diamond smiled.
