Chapter 11
“It seems that I've really become a Card captor…” Syaoran mused, looking out the window as Windy restrained the bird.
It seems that way, doesn't it? Windy finished subduing Fly and watched as the card drifted down into Syaoran's hand. He smiled and hugged it to his chest. Fly had willingly taken card form, why?
Fly sounded rather surprised to be caught. I didn't know…
I thought everyone knew that Syaoran was becoming a Card Captor, despite my efforts to keep it secret? Windy frowned.
Fly shrugged. Perhaps, but I doubt several of the others know… and shouldn't you keep it a secret, so Ruby Moon-sama won't find out?
Sound advice, Windy nodded. Very well. I shall keep it a secret and forgo my status as messenger.
You know, Fly stated, once he had joined the rest of the small-but-growing deck. Cerberus-sama will be most displeased when he discovers that Firey is missing.
You mean `if' he discovers I'm gone. Firey put in. Cerberus-sama only cares for Sweet, for obvious reasons. He only had me around for showing off purposes.
… Fly blinked.
It's true!
I'll take your word for it…
There has got to be a way…
I wish I knew what to do. Return sighed as she watched Syaoran sleep. We are running out of time.
We still have three months, almost!
I know, but… we cannot force the other cards to show up here, can we?
…. Who said we couldn't? Time developed a smile.
Return shook her head. It was true. They were running out of time. And drastic times called for drastic measures…
If only Dark and Light were here, things would be so much simpler…
I do not think they will come until Syaoran-sama has proven him worthy. Libra put in.
True, true…
Shall we just wait until then?
What else can we do? They are higher than we, and we cannot command them…
I wish… oh, what does it matter? We'll just wait and see. Erase said, before she turned to look at Syaoran as well. I hope Syaoran-sama will be all right.
Wait… and Hope…
Eh? What did you say, Create?
It's a famous line from an old story. Wait and hope….
I guess there's nothing else we can do…
Wood.
Luckily, Wood was not a card that enjoyed fighting, and easily returned to Card form. Syaoran smiled.
It hadn't cost him any energy this time…
Thunder was a bit more difficult, but Shadow prevailed, and as he captured it, he had the strangest sensation of déjà vu…
It was probably just from his studies that he had learned of the Clow Cards. Right? But then…
Earthy…
Something nagged in the back of his mind.
Syaoran-sama? Was he remembering his suppressed memories from the last life?
“I just need to find Earthy, and then the Final Judgment will begin…”
Syaoran-sama! How did you know…?
“I don't know,” Syaoran murmured, as he held out a hand, and watched as a compass settled, brilliant symbols flaring, and then a blue beam shot off into the distance…
This is not good, if he remembers now, won't he…!
I don't know, I can't read people's hearts!
Time and Return exchanged worried glances as Syaoran activated Fly, lovely white wings sprouting out of his shoulders, and then Dash…
It seemed that he was rather determined…
Earthy barely had time to attack before Wood and Watery slammed into her. Under that assault, she quickly surrendered.
Syaoran smiled as he caught the card. Now he had all four elementals…
How did he…?
I do not know sister, but we must go to him now. He's given us no choice.
A pity he didn't remember something more useful. Dark sighed. Let's go.
Syaoran looked up as Dark and Light joined him. “Dark… Light…”
Beware, Syaoran-sama… we're sorry, but you've thrown the timeline out completely…
It may be for the better though…
But please remember, he cares no matter what you may believe…
Syaoran blinked, but then they spoke no more…
Impossible. It could not be…!
Yet, Yue could not deny the insistent tug… and he knew that somehow, somehow, he had to conduct the Final Judgment. But how had this happened?
The cards were still scattered over the kingdom, were they not?
Wait… now he remembered. Earthy…. If Earthy was caught, the Final Judgment could begin. It did not matter whether it was the last card or no…
Well, if some fool thought to defeat him with Earthy alone, he would be sorely mistaken…
He was nervous, and he would be lying if he said he weren't… but he had brought this upon himself.
If he lost, he would lose the Cards, and worst of all, he would lose…
He frowned. Something important, but he couldn't remember!
Wait, how did he even know anything about the Final Judgment? The Li Clan's books spoke not of it… only about the cards, a little about Cerberus…
What was wrong?
To say he was shocked would be an understatement. How had Syaoran…?
No matter. If he wanted to fight with Earthy, so be it!
Yue prepared a handful of crystals as he smiled grimly. In either case, even if Syaoran lost, he'd still have his bedmate, so it mattered nothing…
It mattered not….
“I am the Final Judgment Maker, Yue… you were not chosen by Decision Maker Cerberus, and yet, you attempt to take the Final Judgment.”
Syaoran swallowed. Decision Maker? That sounded familiar… however, all thoughts were cut off as Yue shot a wave of crystal shards at him.
“Firey!”
Flame billowed out and consumed ice, and Yue frowned. How had Syaoran gotten Firey?” No matter…
He would not lose…
