The Legend of Zelda: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry   A Legend of Zelda/Harry Potter Crossover Comedy Written By DuzellBell   Chapter One: But Why?   -o-           ;     “But why do I have to?” Link whined, following Princess Zelda out of the Royal Libarary like a loyal puppy begging for scraps. Even though he was now nineteen and considered a very reliable adult by the standards of the Realm, he still acted like a child. A bratty child. A bratty child that tended to whine a lot.             Zelda sighed and rolled her eyes. She adored Link. Really, she did. But he had never really been properly trained in ettiquette and sometimes it just grated on her nerves. Maybe flattery would convince him to accept the enevitable, “Because you are the only one I can trust with such an important mission, Link. You have saved Hyrule and the Oracles many times now and I feel that only you can help prevent any further threat from this area.”           &n bsp; Link’s ego took over, enjoying the praise, and he nodded in half agreement, “Yeah, but…”          &nb sp;  “But how will you fit in?” Zelda interuppted before the boy could finish his argument, fully aware that wasn’t the question he was planning on asking. “Oh, that’s simple. We’ll just ask the Oracle of Time to make you younger so you look eleven again. I’m sure she’ll be willing to do so, you did save her after all.”           &nb sp; “Sure, but…”          &nb sp;  “But what about the cost? Oh, Link! Don’t be silly! The Royal coffers will cover the expense of all the books and clothes needed. And father said you could barrow the Royal Conductor’s Baton, the Windwaker, in lieu of getting a wand. So that’s taken care of.”           &nbs p; “But…”         &n bsp;   “But how do you get there? Why, Broomstick, of course! Great Witch Syrup has several to choose from. You can take your pick and she’ll even give you basic flying lessons.”            ;  Link tried to edge his way in front of Zelda, “But what about…”          & nbsp;  “But what about the lessons? You already know quite a bit of magic, so you should be able to ‘wing it’ for the first few days until you find out where everyone is at and can catch up. But the rest can all be discussed later. I have a meeting with that pompous Prince Façade in twenty minutes that I must prepare for.” Zelda spun around suddenly, facing the boy and forcing Link to skid to a halt before he could slam into her. The princess put on her most dazzling smile, counting on the fact that it could make Link blubber like an idiot, “Oh, Link. Thank you so much for doing this! I really wish I could take longer to say goodbye, but the school term starts in a week and you should start getting ready. I’ll write to you every week you’re there.” She stepped close and gave the hero a quick peck on the cheek, then turned and entered her chambers, the door shutting behind her.             Link turned around and walked back down the hall, a giddy smile on his lips and his mind in a daze. It wasn’t until he had gotten to the stables and was readying his horse for the ride to Syrup’s that he realized he never acctually agreed to go. His face darkened into a scowl, I swear, one of these days… One of these days, I’m not going to let a smile from Zelda affect me like that… The giddy smile returned as his hand touched his cheek, I can’t believe she kissed me…   -o-         ;       Link scowled, head down, as the witch took his measurements for the hurried attempt to find robes that would properly fit him. Nayru had already used her powers of Time Manipulation to return Link’s body to a younger form. Now Link was having trouble finding any clothes that fit. And now he was having to suffer through a fitting session with a woman as equally upset as himself. She didn’t even try to hide her exasperation at someone ordering robes two days before the start of school.             Impa had suggested getting the robes done last because it would take a few days for Link to learn to fly a broomstick, get enrolled, find the books needed, get a bank account so he could convert his Rupees into the common curency and learn to speak the language well enough to get by.             The flying took Link a day to become profiecent at. It was like riding a horse, only he couldn’t trust it to dodge an attack while he was reading an arrow. The enrollment had been taken care of the day after, when Impa dragged him to see the Headmaster of the school and gave the old guy some story about private schooling and his teacher suffering an unfortunate accident or something. At first Link didn’t think the man would buy it. He certainly wouldn’t have. But it was Impa’s job to convince the guy, so Link had busied himself with messing with the objects in the room. One of them was a very pretty bird that the old guy had introduced as Fawkes. It didn’t escape the Hylian that the Headmaster had only agreed to allow his extremely late and unexpected entry after Link started to pet the bird and the creature was leaning into his hand for more attention. They were handed a list of suppiles and books and told to take the train from platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station in two days. Books came after Link got an account at Gringgotts. That experience had not been a good one for him either. All he could think about the entire time was how much the short creatures resembled Moblins. Link didn’t like Moblins and had made his carreer on destroying the creatures. Luckily for the ugly little things, Impa had made Link leave his sword at home. Otherwise, there might have been a few less Goblins manning the teller booths. The books were actually eaiser to get than Impa had thought. Headmaster Dumbledore suggested the store most of the students shopped at because it was licensed to sell all the school books for Hogworts. He had also given them sugesstions for where to go to get robes and an animal. Students were allowed a familiar.             ; Impa solved the problem of Link getting a new pet by ‘suggesting’ that Kaepora Gaebora be his owl for the interim of the school year. Link would have prefered to take a Great Fairy. At least their annoying pratter could be ignored while he watched their chests bounce in their lacy vine bras. Kaepora had no such endowments and his prattle was just as annoying.             ; The slight language problem was also solved by Dumbledore. With a quick flick of his wand and some word or another uttered under his breath, Link was able to perfectly read, write and speak ‘English’.         &nbs p;   That left the robes. Madam Malkin herself took the measurements and suffered through yet another moody child on his way to school. She consoled herself with the knowledge that as of two days from now, she wouldn’t have to put up with any of this until the next year.   -o-                Impa escorted Link to the train station where he would be joining other students on their way to Hogwarts. Everything he would need for the trip was packed away in his bag of shrinking. Every bomb he could carry, every weapon he had mastered, and any other odd thing he could think of that might come in handy. He had even snuck the Master Sword into it the night before, as heavy as it was with him so young again. He would have to use it as a claymoore if he did use it. By his calculations Zelda wouldn’t know it was missing for at least three days. He could fit a lot into a bag of shrinking. Kaepora was the only thing not in the bag. The old fart was locked in a cage. A very large cage. A cage that could fit all the Maidens plus some. The bird was big, even for a Horned Owl.             The Royal Nanny and Personal Guard guided Link to platform 9 ¾. Impa, of course, had little trouble finding the thing, even with its entrance was hidden in a column between Platform 9 and 10.             “Any last instructions from Her High and oh-so-Mighty-ness?” the Hylian asked sarcasticlly, letting Impa know his dislike for the assignment.           &nb sp; “Zelda wishes you luck and wants you to write her every chance you get. As for when you get there… Dumbledore has informed us that students get sorted into ‘Houses’. Aghanim was part of the Slytherin House. We’d like you to try and get into that one to further investigaitons. It’s perfect for you, too. One of their colors is green. Other than that, try to blend in and gain as much information as you can.”           &nb sp; Link nodded and waved as he turned and entered Platform 9 ¾, Kaepora’s cage pulled along behind him on a wheeled cart. The Hylian studied the ‘train’ as he approached the contraption. It was made of metal and emitted loud noises at odd times. He supposed that if Zelda trusted this thing to get him where he needed to be, he could trust it as well. Zelda didn’t usually lead him wrong.             A porter came up to him and studied Kaepora, “Well, normally we allow students to take their famialiars with them on the train, but I’m not sure we…”          &nbs p;  Link thrust the wheeled cart at the man, “Take him where ever you have to. I wanted a Great Fairy.”           & nbsp; Kaepora squaked indignately as Link headed for the entrance to the train and left the bird in the hands of a rather stunned porter.             The Hylian dropped himself in the first empty cabin he came upon. The train and the people around it were too loud for him. He prefered the sound of the forest at dawn. It was loud, but not in a bad way. In the forest the birds sang a sweet song. Here, the people chattered annoyingly. And he couldn’t even pull his cap down and cover his ears. The school didn’t allow hats of any kind to be worn on premises.             ; Other students passed by the cabin, looking for their friends or an empty one to claim as their own. Some poked their head in to see if his was empty, and Link ignored them. After about a half hour a final boarding call sounded. An ‘older’ boy with unruly black hair and a caged white owl swinging from his hand carrened into the cabin. The boy in question hopped over to the other seat as the train started to move, “I hope I’m not intruding but this is the only cabin not full up.”           &nbs p; Link shrugged and turned to look out the window as the train sped up.             “My name’s Harry,” The boy continued as he put his bird on the shelf above him, “I haven’t seen you around before. You a first year?” Link nodded his head and kept his eyes on the hills rolling by outside, “Yep.”          &n bsp;  “Really? Do you know what house you want to be in? I’m in Gryffindor.”          &n bsp;  “My… family… wants me to be in Slytherin. They said it’s the best house.”           & nbsp; Harry’s face fell and he looked away, rather disappointed, “Oh. I see.”           &nb sp; “What’s wrong with Slytherin?” Link asked, genuinely confused.             ; Harry waved at the door, “Nothing’s wrong with the house. It’s more the people in the house... On average they tend to be cruel.” The boy’s face darkened, “Voldemort was in Slytherin.”          &nb sp;  Link blinked in confusion, “Who’s Voldemort?”          &nb sp;  The black haired boy stared at Link, “You don’t know who Voldemort is?”           &nbs p; “Should I?”             ; “Well… yes.”           &nb sp; Link raised an eyebrow, “Do you know who Gannon is?”           &nbs p; The boy shook his head, “No. Never heard of him.”           &nb sp; “Then I guess we’re even.”   -o-                When it was obvious Link was gone for good, Impa pulled out a crystal pendant and muttered an activation spell. Zelda’s voice filled her mind, ~Has he left?~           &nbs p; ~Just now.~ The nursemaid replied.             ~Good. I was worried that he’d figure it out and refuse to go.~             ~What do you mean? He’s going to investigate Aghanim, isn’t he?~             ~Well… yes and no… that is…I mean to say…~            ;  Impa stopped in her tracks, and them refocused her thoughts before addressing her Princess again, ~Why did you send him?~             ; Zelda was silent for several minutes. Long enough for Impa to believe she had broke the connection. When Zelda’s voice came again, it was barely loud enough to hear, ~He always skips the classes I set up for him here… I thought maybe if it was a mission he might acttually attend a class or two…Granted the whole Aghanim going ot this school thing was a great conincidence and all, but… well…~ ~You set this up just to con Link into going to school?~ ~…Well…yes. ~   -o-   End Chapter One   Let me know if you like. Or to just say hi.
