I've Found Where I Belong

All this time I've been so lost

The trees around me closing in

I tried to save you at a cost

That made my barriers grow thin

I thought that if I followed you

Down a short unbeaten path

That we'd find what we knew was true

And escape their hateful wrath

We made our way far

We were almost there

But with each new scar

We were given a glare

Though we battled hard

And survived for so long

You just turned and marred

What we built up strong

I froze in my place

But you continued on

The hurt in my face

Revealed you were gone

Later I peeked ahead

At where you'd left to

Though it was you who fled

I would've forgave you

But no matter how many times

I pleaded with dread

You told me “sometimes

Things are better left dead.”

I went back to the beginning

Trying to find my own way

My head wouldn't stop spinning

Too many things left to say

I kept thinking about going

Back down to find you

But there were lies showing

That I never knew

I never gave in to my weak side

To my memories of us

I kept searching while inside

I re-learned how to trust

One day you came back

You were looking for me

I was going to crack

And go with fantasy

But I remembered the pain

You gave me back there

I tried to refrain

And say, “I don't care.”

I did and I found that here

In front of me all along

Was an open clear

That didn't feel wrong

I headed for it

Leaving you behind

There I seemed to fit

Had I been so blind?

Now that I have found peace

You're still asking for another try

But my longing did cease

For you I no longer cry

So don't try to break me

I will not give in

You smile so fakely
