DIGIMON TAMERS: RECONFIGURED

Disclaimer: I own the characters of Ashley, Satamon, Darkveemon and Adam. Hell, the last one's me. I also own all the attribute change cards and the Hellfire and Upgrade cards (I think). Everything else is the brainchild of Toei.

Note: This episode marks my first appearance. I'll try to stay away from Gary Stu as much as possible. Consequently, there will be no perfect character tearing apart a relationship and using special powers. Well, there's Ryo, but you know what I mean.

Additional Note: This episode takes place over the same time period as the last two.

Narrator: Megidramon and Daemon's fight continued while Takato wondered how he let things get out of hand. Megidramon defeated Daemon with a sneak attack, then turned on the Tamers. Takato tried to use cards to bring him under control, but it didn't do anything. Then, Yamaki showed up and fired this weird gun at Megidramon. It didn't do anything except allow Takato to free Guilmon from Megidramon's data. Then Yamaki saw Ashley and recognized her as his daughter. Back in the battle, everyone brought their Digimon to the Champion levels and fought Megidramon. Eventually, it was Growlmon against Megidramon. Takato used the Goliath card to increase Growlmon's size and power, then used a Magna Angemon card and attempted to defeat Megidramon with the Gate of Destiny. When Megidramon broke free and attacked Takato, Jeri somehow managed to make Bakemon Matrix Digivolve and defeated him.

(The True Threat Revealed)

(Close up on Ryo's face)

Ryo: (Thinking) I've always been different. I can't remember what happened before I met Cyberdramon. I can't even remember how I met him. But this… this is ridiculous!

(We pan out to see that he's watching "Our War Game" on his TV. He pauses the tape as Monodramon walks by.)

Ryo: Monodramon, this is from "Digimon the Movie". Do you notice anything `out of place'

(Monodramon stares blankly at the screen)

Monodramon: Is Wargreymon missing a point on the Crest on his back?

Ryo: No, look at the main part of the screen.

(Monodramon looks more carefully)

Monodramon: Hey, that guy looks like you. What a coincidence.

Ryo: Yeah, it must be a coincidence.

(Ryo suddenly remembers something)

Ryo: Or maybe not! Monodramon, "Genesis of Evil" is the first episode on the tape labelled "Digimon 12". Please get that tape for me.

(Monodramon goes off-screen to the right and comes back with a tape in his hands. He pops it into the VCR and Ryo fast-forwards to Ken's brief flashback of the defeat of Milleniumon.)

Ken: (on the TV) Ryo, look out!

(On the TV Ken pushes Ryo out of the way and bear the brunt of the Dark Spores himself)

(Ryo looks shocked for a minute.)

Ryo: What does it mean?

Monodramon: That the creators of Digimon have been stalking you to see how you look, then basing a character on you?

Ryo: As unlikely as that is, it's more plausible than the other explanation.

Monodramon: Which is…

Ryo: That I was actually there! That I am a dimensional traveller from the Digimon Adventure universe! That I watched Diaboromon's defeat from my computer! That I worked with Ken Ichijoji to defeat Milleniumon! That I (pause) am a Digidestined, not just a Tamer!

(Ryo collapses onto his bed and falls asleep for the night)

[Rika: It is in the cards that Digimon will be back]

COMMERCIALS

[Impmon: Whaddayaknow? We're back!]

(Ryo is pacing in his room)

Ryo: What does it all mean? Am I really the Ryo from the anime? How is that possible? Why can't I remember anything?

(Monodramon comes into the room)

Monodramon: Still confused over those scenes?

Ryo: Wouldn't you be? Imagine if you had a favourite anime and it featured a mysterious character with no background information who looked exactly like you and even had your name!

Monodramon: Okay, Ryo, you need to take your mind off of this. Why don't you play an old video game? I know when I'm concerned about something I can make it go away with an old favourite.

Ryo: Fine.

(Ryo picks up an old Wonderswan system)

Ryo: It's been so long since I've used this that I've forgotten everything about this game.

(Ryo turns on the system, plays the game for a few minutes, then drops it in shock)

Monodramon: What's wrong?

Ryo: This game, Digimon Tag TAMERS, centres around the Digiworld adventures of Ken Ichioji and Ryo Akiyama. Akiyama! He even has my LAST name! Something is up here, and I intend to find out what! Monodramon, we're taking a trip to the Digital World.

Monodramon: Should we tell the others?

Ryo: It's somewhat difficult to go on a trip of self-discovery when you're surrounded by eight other people and their Digimon.

Monodramon: Okay. So, how would you test your theory?

(Ryo walks up to his computer holding out his D-Power)

Monodramon: I had to ask.

Ryo: Digiport Open!

(Nothing happens)

Ryo: (more forceful) Digiport Open!

(Still nothing)

Monodramon: Well, there goes that theory.

Ryo: I'm not giving up yet. DIGIPORT OPEN!!!

(Still nothing)

Monodramon: I know where there's a portal you can use.

Ryo: So do I.

(Seconds after Ryo leaves the house the phone starts ringing)

(Ryo and Monodramon arrive at the park and go to the portal)

Ryo: Are you ready to step into the unknown?

Monodramon: I guess…

Ryo: Let's go then.

(They step into the portal and are pulled into the space between the real and Digital worlds)

Ryo: Okay, all you need to remember is don't decide which way's down. Otherwise you'll fall there until you reach the Digital World.

Monodramon: So, in other words, down is definitely not directly below us.

(As these words are said, the two drop completely vertically)

Ryo: Next time, no reverse psychology.

Monodramon: Who would've thought it was smart enough?

(The two plummet down until they hit the ground, creating a crater. A Salamon and a Veemon walk by discussing something.)

Veemon: I told you, there's no way.

Salamon: I don't care what you think, I know I felt the presence.

Veemon: It's been so many years and there's no signs.

Salamon: The signs have been all over, you just don't want to acknowledge them.

Veemon: Did you reformat your memory or something? The very essence was destroyed years ago!

Salamon: Keep saying that and you might start believing it.

(Ryo climbs out of the crater, followed by Monodramon)

Ryo: Do either of you know where I could go to find myself?

Veemon: If you don't know where you are then you're in trouble.

Ryo: That's not what I mean. I'm having an identity crisis here. I don't remember my past and I was hoping this place held some key to my memories.

Salamon: I'm not sure why…

Ryo: Because my earliest memory is being with Cyberdramon in this spot. Before that it's a complete blank.

Veemon: You know, I know someone who can't remember any…

(Veemon gets a good look at Ryo)

Veemon: Ryo?

Ryo: How do you know my name?

Veemon: Don't you recognize your old partner?

Ryo: Old partner?

Salamon: What is this about?

Veemon: I can't believe it's you! What happened to you after we beat Milleniumon?

Ryo: Milleniumon? You mean that actually happened?

Salamon: If he doesn't remember anything before being here with his new partner he's not going to remember that!

Ryo: Where are you two off to anyways?

Salamon: The sovereigns summoned a group of Digimon to Shinka Mountain…

(Salamon points one paw towards the mountain where Calumon released the Shining Digivolution)

Salamon: To discuss the new threat.

Ryo: I guess I should go too.

Veemon: I wouldn't suggest it. We were all invited; I think they wanted to keep Tamers out of this.

Ryo: Why?

Salamon: You know what that bird's like.

(Ryo, who wasn't there for most of the Devas' attacks, draws a blank on this)

Veemon: He hates humans and wants the whole world to know it.

Salamon: Why don't you watch from a distance?

Ryo: Good idea. What do you say, Monodramon?

Monodramon: Why not? If anything goes wrong we've got cards.

[Takato: Digimodify! Break activate!

Computerized Voice: Digimon will be back]

COMMERCIALS [(Image: Spinning logo)

C Narrator: Next time on Digimon…

(Image: Ladydevimon above Ryo and Rika)

C Narrator: There's danger in the air…

(Image: Dragomon attacking a ship full of people)

C Narrator: And blood in the water.

C Narrator: And the only one who can save the Tamers…

C Narrator: …Is Icedevimon.

Rika: You're kidding, right?

C Narrator: Don't miss the next all-new Digimon.]

[Henry: This is no game of chance, we're back]

(Ryo is hiding in a bush near the mountain where he can see and hear everything. The Sovereigns are on top of the mountain addressing the Digimon.)

Azulongmon: First, we would like to thank you for taking the time to come here. We know you're all busy, but you came anyways.

Zhuquaomon: Second, we are in the greatest danger we've faced since the D-Reaper, and I believe the humans should have no part in this…

Ebonwumon (Head 1): Now `old on there, Feisty McBigmouth, why're we rulin' th' `umans out o' this?

Ebonwumon (Head 2): Yeah, they `elped us a lot against the D-Reaper.

Baihumon: Ebonwumon's right, they were invaluable allies in the battle against the D-Reaper, why shouldn't they help us with this?

Zhuquaomon: Because I have reason to believe that one of them is leading this attack. Unfortunately, I don't know which human, except that it's a female.

Azulongmon: Since we don't know if she has any accomplices, or even who she is, we can't trust the humans. Now, are there any questions?

(Numerous paws, hands, flippers and wings go up in the assembled group)

Baihumon: How about that Salamon?

(Baihumon indicates the Salamon Ryo talked to earlier)

Salamon: Isn't it dangerous to discuss this in front of all these Digimon, given that if even one of them is in line with this "Digiconquerer", as she calls herself we're all screwed?

Azulongmon: We only summoned the Digimon we knew we could trust.

Salamon: I see a few too many Diaboromon here to believe that. Never mind the numerous Demidevimon and…

Zhuquaomon: Salamon, given that you could digivolve to a Black Gatomon quite easily, I suggest you leave it at that. I've known some Angemon who couldn't be trusted and some Devimon who couldn't be truer. You have to believe that we took all necessary precautions in doing this.

(A Sukamon speaks up)

Sukamon: Except protecting us from her armies!

(We see several Ladydevimon, Skullsatamon, (no connection to Satamon except a possible misdigivolution), Marinedevimon, and various other evil Digimon being led by Alice McCoy)

Azulongmon: Don't worry, we're Megas, we can take them.

Alice: What, you've never heard of strength in numbers?

(Ryo comes out of the bush)

Ryo: It's you, the Goth girl Rika told me about.

Alice: And you're the perfect little brat with the Monodramon. Well, you know that perfection never lasts long.

(A Ladydevimon flies ahead of her)

Ladydevimon: Nightmare Wave!

(A bunch of bats, similar to Myotismon's fly out towards Ryo)

Voice: Dark Laser!

(A black `X' shaped laser beam collides with the bats, destroying them)

Ryo: Who…

(A Digimon which looks exactly like Exveemon, except black where he's blue flies in with a boy on his back. The boy is five-foot two with brown hair and brown eyes so dark they look black and is wearing a "Blue Jays" T-shirt and khakis. He has a grey D-Power at his side. Ryo identifies the Digimon)

Ryo: (looking at the readout) Darkexveemon, Champion level, Virus type. Main attack is "Dark Laser".

(Ryo turns his attention to the boy)

Ryo: And you are…

???: My name is Adam. I moved to Japan from Canada last month. I was just summoned here today where I met Darkveemon. You?

Ryo: Ryo Akiyama…

Adam: Ryo? Like in the Digimon anime?

Ryo: That's what I'm trying to figure out.

(A Ladydevimon goes to attack the two)

Ryo: How much can you do? Do you have any cards?

Adam: I've got enough to deal with this.

(Adam pulls out a Vaccination card)

Adam: You ready, Darkexveemon?

DXV: Yes, now hurry up and do it!

(Adam holds his D-Power in his left hand, diagonally so that a slashed card would go towards his body)

Adam: Digimodify!

(Adam slashes the card through)

Adam: Vaccination activate!

Darkexveemon: That's better! XV Punch!

(he punches the Ladydevimon out of the way)

Monodramon: And the punch-uation mark… Beat Knuckle!

(The Ladydevimon turns to face Monodramon)

Ladydevimon: You've just made a big mistake.

Darkexveemon: No, you made a mistake. Dark Laser!

(Ladydevimon starts to delete)

Darkexveemon: You turned your back on…

(Darkexveemon is attacked from behind by a Gigadramon)

Ryo: Digimodify! Digivolution activate!

DIGIVOLUTION

Monodramon: Monodramon, digivolve to…

(Monodramon grows to about five feet tall. His legs extend and jeans appear on him. His mouth extends into a snout like Cyberdramon's, and his hands turn into claws.)

???: Strikedramon!

(Ryo checks his D-Power for information on Strikedramon)

Ryo: (Reading) Strikedramon. Champion level Virus type. Attacks are Strike Claw and Strike Fang.

Adam: All right, we needed a little help here.

Ryo: We're not out of the woods yet.

(Ryo pulls out a card)

Ryo: Digimodify! Vaccination activate!

Adam: You two charge him on the count of three. One, three!

Strikedramon: Strike Claw

(Strikedramon slashes the Gigadramon)

Darkexveemon: Dark Laser!

(The laser hits the spot that Strikedramon slashed open and the Gigadramon is deleted)

Alice: You're good, but you can't stop the army of darkness, only delay it. Let's go, we've got better to do than sit around watching this.

(Ryo charges at Alice)

Alice: Attacking me? That's a laugh. You can't hurt what's already dead.

(Alice and her army seem to fade away)

Ryo: Dead?

(Strikedramon and Darkexveemon dedigivolve now that the threat's gone)

Ryo: I'm more confused now than I was when I came here!

[Guilmon: Time for a snack, but we'll be back]

COMMERCIALS

[Terriermon: Momentai, we're back!]

(Ryo and Adam are in the Digital world)

Ryo: So, what's your story?

Adam: Not much to tell. I moved here from Canada six days ago, and today Darkveemon found me and I gained my digivice.

Ryo: It's called a "D-Power". How did you know about the cards, though?

Adam: Are you kidding? That whole thing with the D-Reaper was major international news. I saw the battles before you somehow managed to combine with your Digimon…

Ryo: The term is "Biomerge"

Adam: Fine, before you learned how to "Bioemerge", and so when I got my "D-Pow" I knew how to use the cards already.

(Ryo cringes at the hideously misused terms)

Adam: Anyways, who was that Goth girl with all the Digimon?

Ryo: I don't know her personally, but I think her name is Alice McCoy. She apparently provided some help when we were fighting the D-Reaper. I don't know the full details, but she was accompanied by a Dobermon who sacrificed himself to allow us to Biomerge.

Adam: Then why is she fighting us?

Ryo: Add that to the list of things I don't know, along with "everything that happened before I met Cyberdramon" and "how my likeness got into the Digimon anime".

Adam: So, you wouldn't remember if you really fought Milleniumon?

Ryo: I don't remember a thing.

(Ryo and Adam are carried up into the real world by their Digimon)

Narrator: Well, talk about a rough initiation for Adam. Now what's up with Alice? Is she really dead? Maybe we'll get some clues on the next Digimon: Digital Monsters.

Alice's line about being dead? Well, there's a long story behind this. After he wrote the scripts, the Japanese writer noted that he thought Alice may "no longer be of this world" (information from the Digimon Encyclopedia). I took that and ran with it.

The conversation between Veemon and Salamon. It is irrelevant to anything in this chapter, however it will come into play when Takato dreams come true in a few episodes. I will tell you this, however, I loved Tamers, but I miss the Digidestined.

My (Adam's) misuse of words is due to general confusion over many things Digimon Tamers. Plus, Ryo's too damn perfect and annoying him is the least I can do to keep myself from giving him his "Noble Death" (see Marty Stu explanation, look at Ryo's character, and find similarities (start with Replacement and go from there)). Besides, I couldn't pass up using the similarity between the terms "Biomerge" and "Bioemerge" for cheap laughs.

Oh, and RIP Darkened Hopes. Sorry to any fans of the series, but I can't write two separate series at the same time. I may revive it later on, but for now it's dead as the dodo.
