Stop!

Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon, although I sometimes wish I did…

Okay. This is an "Akihime" AKA "Ryuki"… Akihime stands for Akiyama no hime, meaning Akiyama's princess, which in short means… Ruki!!! I personally think it's a real cute fic, but that's for the readers to decide! So, please review!!!!

(BTW: In this story, Ryo is only a year older than Ruki!!!)

Akiyama Ryo entered the school with a casual gait. "Hey," he greeted his friends. "Hey, Akiyama!" they returned the greeting. Ryo grinned as he spotted the one he loved to tease: Makino Ruki.

Ruki walked down the hall, not noticing that Akiyama was waiting… She was too busy sorting out her thoughts. She couldn't decide whether she liked Ryo or thought he was purely annoying.

"Hey! It's the Kid!" Ryo shouted. Somehow, he liked teasing Ruki. He didn't exactly know why, but he did. He just did… but then again, he was quite oblivious to many things.

"Shut up, Akiyama!" Ruki shot back. She didn't get it… She couldn't figure it out! Ryo was the only person that could drive her up-the-wall-crazy, but make her feel so happy. She grinded her teeth in annoyance. Figures! she thought. He's the only one that can make me go crazy like this! He's just a pest! she finally decided. But something remained untouched. She knew he was more than just a pest. He was… she just couldn't figure out what the feeling was.

Ryo grinned. He enjoyed teasing Ruki… He liked Ruki… yet there was something more… something he just couldn't figure out, like many other things.

"Hi, Ruki!" Katou Juri greeted her best friend.

"Hi, Juri!" Ruki replied.

"C'mon! Hurry up, please??? Do you want to come with me to the main hall???" Juri asked.

"Okay, just… just let me get my things unpacked," Ruki answered. Ruki smiled. Juri was just… somehow everybody couldn't help but like Juri. Juri was just so nice and innocently sweet. Even Ruki couldn't help but like her.

The two girls ran down to the main hall of the school, where everybody hung out until the first warning bell rang.

"Hi, Ruki! Hi Juri!" the girls greeted.

Ruki nodded in reply. Something made her stomach jolt. She had a feeling that someone familiar was there… someone…

"Hey, it's the KID!" Ryo, once again, greeted.

Ruki had had about enough with, "Hey, it's the Kid!" A vessel popped, and Ruki shot her worst death glare towards Ryo. "Could you just please SHUT UP, Akiyama??? Or are you too stupid to understand those words???" Ruki spat.

"Whatever, Ruki!" Ryo replied smoothly, although inside, he felt hurt… He lightly, just so lightly blushed, that you could barely see it. "You're still the Kid!"

"Whoo-hoo! This is going to be interesting!" Katy grinned.

"Just leave me alone, Akiyama! I'm glad that you're going to be going to the high next year!" Ruki remarked. "Or did you just flunk??? Hopefully not!"

Ryo just laughed. "One thing for sure, I did not flunk!" he said. He walked out the main hall, eyeing the clock on the wall. He noticed that the warning bell would ring soon…

The bell rang. Ruki walked out the main hall… however, Juri stayed back for a few more moments.

"What a crush!" Katy remarked, as Juri was about to leave.

"What??? What do you mean?" Juri asked curiously.

"Ryo!!!" Katy answered simply.

Juri immediately caught on. "Oh," she said, giggling. She ran out the hall to catch up with Ruki. "Ruki! Wait up!!!!"

But Ruki was already waiting… and arguing with Ryo.

"Guess what Katy said!" Juri exclaimed, still giggling. "It's so funny!!! She said, 'What a Crush!' You get it?" Juri asked.

Ryo and Ruki blinked a few times before replying. They both blushed before replying.

"WHAT?!?!?" Ruki squawked.

"WHAT???" Ryo gaped.

Ryo's friends laughed. "Ryo and Ruki!!!!! Sitting in the tree!" they chanted.

Ryo froze. "What did you guys say?" he said, glaring at them, although inside… there was a warm feeling… a funny and familiar feeling.

Ruki thought back on the scene. Am I happy, or sad? she asked herself. Do… Do I like him??? Ruki refused to believe it. How could she, Makino Ruki, fall for pesky Akiyama??? She didn't have an answer. She couldn't bring herself to admit it, but neither could she deny. "Stupid Ryo!" she whispered. Her face coloured. Did she just say his first name? Ruki's heart beat faster and faster, as if she were running, or riding an exciting roller coaster. "He brings so much trouble into my life…" she muttered.

Slowly, she fell to sleep…

Ruki hurried to catch the bus. If she didn't catch the bus, she would be convinced that she had the worst luck in the world on the worst day of her life. That morning, her mother and grandma were doing all the laundry-leaving only a choice between a dress and her old school uniform. She decided upon her old school uniform rather than a dress. For once, she was glad that she had gone to a private school with uniform before transferring to public school.

Ruki caught the bus easily and sat next to Juri. She just hoped that Akiyama wouldn't go far back into the bus. She knew she just couldn't face him because… because she was wearing a skirt and because of the little incident.

"Why are you wearing a skirt?" Katy asked.

"Because, my mother and grandma had to wash everything today… so, either this or a dress… I prefer my old school uniform because I can tolerate it," Ruki informed Katy grumpily.

Thankful, Ruki sighed as Ryo came on. He didn't go back very far…

It was late afternoon. Ruki was walking home. She wanted to avoid Ryo as much as she could. However, what Ruki didn't know was that Ryo was walking too.

Walking home quietly, Ruki hummed a small tune in joy.

"Hey, Kid!" Ryo yelled.

Startled, Ruki was ready to hit him. "WHAT? You, again??? ARGH!" Ruki groaned. She quickened her pace, with Ryo following her closely behind.

Ryo was still deciding what to do. The night before, he had finally admitted he liked Ruki-not just as a friend… but maybe more… Should I… should I tell her? he questioned himself. "Ruki!" he stammered as he ran to catch up with her.

"What?" Ruki replied, turning around sharply.

Ryo swerved to a stop when Ruki stopped. Nonetheless, he was only a few inches away from her… "I… I… I…" he stuttered, scrounging his courage. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see the bus rounding the corner… slowly… just so slowly… "Never mind…" he said.

"Ugh!" Ruki replied, walking away quickly. Suddenly, she noticed the bus… "Oh." Her heartbeat quickened. Had her friends seen her… with Ryo??? What would they make of it??? She quickened her pace… What did Ryo want to tell me? she thought.

The bus passed her quickly, stopping momentarily. The bus driver was waiting for Ryo to get off, but on finding out Ryo wasn't on the bus, he drove around the corner for Ruki's stop. Of course, Ruki wasn't on the bus either.

Soon, the bus was out of sight. "Okay, Akiyama, what?" Ruki asked sharply, her back turned towards Ryo.

"Your heart must be made of ice…" Ryo murmured quietly.

"Maybe," Ruki replied, hiding a smile. She paused. "I'm waiting!"

"Well… I… I…" Ryo scrounged his courage. "I was thinking…"

"For once!" Ruki commented sarcastically. "Congrats!"

"I was thinking about… about… you know, yesterday… and… and…" Ryo began, stammering.

"Could you please stop stammering??? Yeah, what about yesterday???" Ruki said sensitively, turning around to face Ryo.

"Well… I was thinking about the words, and… and Ruki??? I think… I think…" Ryo paused. He set his eyes upon Ruki's light lavender-coloured eyes. "I… I… Aishteru, Ruki…" he finally told her, blushing.

Ruki blushed. Did she like him??? "Ryo??? I… Aishteru," Ruki replied. She leaned towards him and kissed him. Carefully edging away, she said, "I really do… Aishteru…" she repeated, blushing. She ran homewards quickly.

Ryo was shocked. Ruki had told her she loved him… But why was she running away? "Ruki?" he said as she ran, not looking back.

*

Ryo couldn't stop thinking about Ruki. In fact, he had tried to avoid her all day for the last week. What would he have done if he met her? Call her "the Kid" again? Or would he just have blushed and stammered? His heart ached… And why had Ruki run???

He decided to walk home again, like everyday he had since… the kiss. He needed time to think… and hopefully, bump into Ruki again. Slowly, he walked… He could see a shadowy figure ahead of him. "Ruki?" he whispered.

"Akiyama," Ruki greeted likewise.

There was silence-unwanted and uncomfortable silence. They were both waiting for the other to speak…

Ruki could see the bus turning around the corner. Immediately, she burst into a run.

"Ruki! Wait!" Ryo ran after her. What else was he supposed to do?

Ruki didn't know what she was supposed to do. Should she stop? Or should she keep going?

"Stop!" Ryo shouted desperately. He just couldn't stand it. "Please, Ruki…" he trailed off.

Ruki stopped and looked back. "I… I…" she was wordless. She knew she couldn't keep running away like she had been… She knew she was hurting, but she couldn't help it if she was afraid.

"Please don't run away," Ryo whispered to her.

Ruki spun around. Her gaze locked with Ryo's. She stared into his ocean-blue eyes, searching for answers.

The bus passed them by. No passenger noticed Ryo and Ruki standing outside. It seemed almost as if Ryo and Ruki were in their own little world… all alone…

Ruki walked closer to Ryo, still searching for answers. Her mind was unfocused… her heart beat faster and faster… Meekly, she edged away. She just couldn't bring herself to focus. "Bye," she quickly said and once again ran.

*

It had been days since Ryo had teased her…

"It's the Kid!" he said, forcing the words up.

Ruki turned and glared at him coolly. "Shut up," she merely said. Her heart raced. She turned to walk away, but the words kept echoing in her mind: "Stop… please, Ruki…" Ruki stopped. What am I doing? she asked herself. She moved on, but the words kept coming back. Suddenly, they made sense. She had to stop running away and face the truth… but that was hard for Ruki, known for her tough and cold attitude.

After school, she slowly walked. Was she waiting for Ryo? Yes, she was waiting for Ryo. "Ryo… please come," she whispered to nothing in particular.

"Hey, Kiddo!" Ryo greeted her… acting like normal, pesky Ryo…

"Hello, Ryo…" Ruki replied nonchalantly. Inside, however, she was confused. Since when has Ryo treated me like this??? Before the kiss, her mind answered. Maybe he was lying… "Liar," she hissed. She would have said she had been lying, but she hadn't. She really liked Ryo…

Ryo was taken aback. It seemed as if Ruki was hurt. But wasn't she lying? he questioned.

Ruki angrily kicked a stone. Hot tears slowly crawled down her cheeks. She wiped her tears away. She didn't want the Liar to see them. Then, she ran.

Ryo didn't get it. Did I just see Ruki crying? he thought. Maybe she wasn't lying! "Ruki! Wait!" he yelled, running after her. He realised the big mistake. He quickened his pace from jogging to sprinting. "Ruki!!!" he shouted.

From the corner of his vision, he saw the bus coming. Ryo didn't care. All he knew was that Ruki was hurting. One thing he knew was that Ruki never cried…

"Ruki!!!" he once again yelled. His voice was raspy. His throat felt raw and hoarse.

"Shut up, Akiyama!" she replied, picking up speed.

Ruki had no more tears in her eyes. I refuse to cry, she thought. Especially when the bus is right there and kids are staring-wait! Kids??? She froze. She had obviously drawn attention. She panicked. What am I supposed to do?

"Ruki!!!" Ryo yelled. "Finally…"

"Shut up Akiyama…" she muttered.

"HUH???" Ryo replied, not noticing the bus. "Oh…"

Not soon enough, the bus passed them and turned around the corner.

"What do you want Akiyama?" Ruki asked him harshly.

"I… Sorry," he finally said.

Ruki stared into his eyes. She could feel tears welling up. She fluttered her eyes, trying to keep the tears in her. She didn't succeed. Tears slowly rolled off her cheeks onto the ground. "You're a liar," she sniffled bitterly. It was no use to try to hide her tears.

"What do you mean, Ruki?" he asked, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Get away!" she replied, shaking his hand off. Her voice quavered. "You were lying all along."

"I wasn't," Ryo told Ruki.

Ruki muffled her sobs. Her sobs were trapped in her throat and chest. Her tears kept rolling down. She had really believed that she had been in love with Ryo… but…

Ryo closed in on Ruki. "Shhh…" he quieted her. Gently, he hugged Ruki close to him. "Ruki… Truly… Aishteru…" he whispered in Ruki's ear.

Well, was that a good fic??? I kind of based this off of incidents that had to a friend of mine. There's a boy in a grade above us that always teases my friend and she gets so angry with him. Then one day, somebody said, "What a crush!" And I told this to my friend… and the teaser just happened to be there! And… yeah, his friends teased him. He was beet-red, seriously!!!!! But I have a feeling that they would make a cute couple. Nothing has happened to them, so… this is mostly fiction!!!! Please comment!
