universe, hope it turns out as well as I hoped it would turn out.

THE JOURNAL

Ah...the beauty of a hot summer day. The sky was blue, the grass was
green and all of nature seemed to dance in its own special rhythm to
music that it seemed to create. Suddenly two golden streaks of light
flashed through the clear skies, disturbing the quiet tranquility and
leaving chaos in its wake. The happy laughter of two young
demi-Saiyans floated down to the earth as the duo zigzagged in flight.
Twirling and performing dizzy loops, both boys, about eleven years of
age, grinned at each other, both enjoying the rush and adrenaline that
came with the freedom of flying.

"Whoa, Trunks!" One of the boys said, stopping suddenly in mid-air.

"What is it, Goten?" Trunks asked, stopping as well.

"Don't you think we should stop now? I mean, we are far away from your
house. I don't think your dad could catch us now. Come on, I am
getting tired and I want to see this secret already." Goten begged,
transforming out of Super Saiyan mode and back to his normal raven
locks.

Trunks eyed his best friend with a smirk which rivaled that of his
father. "Alright, Goten." He finally agreed, transforming himself back
to his lavender locks. "We will stop here for a while." And with that,
they both floated to the lush terrain below. Walking towards the
sparkling lake that graced the countryside, both boys sat down beneath
one of the many trees, enjoying the cool shade.

"Well?" Goten asked, impatience and excitement all mixed in his voice.

Trunks had called him this morning, claiming that he had a secret that
he wanted to share. Goten, who was always ready for something
exciting, had willingly agreed, not really knowing what all the
hush-hush was about. Trunks had something hidden amongst his training
gi and Goten watched as he pulled out a small leather bound book with
a weird looking insignia on it.

"That's it?" Goten asked, disappointed. "Is this what you made me fly
all the way here for?"

"Shut up, Goten." Trunks retorted sharply. "This is no ordinary book.
This is my father's journal." He finished triumphantly, as if he had
discovered the key to all knowledge.

"So?" Goten asked quizzically. What was the big deal about it? His
brother, Gohan, had a journal, but there was nothing really fantastic
about it.

"Sooo, you baka, it means that it contains all of my dad's secrets!"

"But...why do you want to read all of your dad's secrets?"

"Because!" Trunks answered exasperated. "Something seems to be bugging
my dad and I think I am going to find out what it is." He grinned,
running his fingers against the insignia.

"What do you think it means?" Goten asked, looking at the symbol.

"I dunno." Trunks replied shrugging, "Probably some Saiyan thingy.
What are we waiting for? Let's do this!"

Goten looked a bit worried. Even though Vegeta was nowhere around
them, he still had this weird feeling that if they were caught, they
were in some serious trouble. Trunks had slipped it out of Vegeta's
room, while he had been cooped up in the gravity room again and now
they were about to invade the man's privacy. He shivered slightly as
Trunks opened the first pages....only to be confronted with words and
symbols that didn't make any sense.

"What the...?" Trunks exclaimed in consternation. "Oh, come on! You
can't be serious! There has got to be some words we can understand in
here!" He cried in frustration, flipping through pages rapidly. He
suddenly froze as the name "Kakarrot" flashed through. ~ Ah ha! He
always calls Goten's father that, so I think we have something. ~

Flipping some more, he grinned in delight as he saw a page that was
finally written in kanji.

"Hey, Goten! Looks like we hit the jackpot!"

"Oh! Read it, Trunks!"

"Alright..." Trunks said, frowning slightly, as he tried to read the
fine print of the Saiyan prince. ~ Kami! He writes so neatly! ~

"January the twenty-third, in the year of the dying sun, in this
Kami-forsaken planet called Chikyuu....

Kakarrot and his baka no friends had decided to attend a party given
by that bakayaro, Roshii. Needless to say, I had no intention of
enjoying myself. The only reason I went at all was because the onna
had threatened to stop fixing the gravity room, if I hadn't shown up.
The only reason I put up with this, is the need to be better and
stronger than that baka Kakkarot, if not I would have blasted this
planet to kingdom come a long time ago."

Trunks raised his head and pursed his lips in concentration.

"Seems like your dad hates everyone." Goten said, quietly.

"Hn. This is boring. Let's look for something else." Trunks said
suddenly, flipping through some more pages. "Ah! This looks good!" He
smiled again and then began reading.

"January the thirty-first, in this still Kami-forsaken planet....

Kakarrot and I sparred again today. I swear by the Saiyan race that
that bakayaro is mocking me! He keeps laughing at me and it is taking
all of my control not to bash that stupid, yet amazing smile off his
face. Every time he does that, I feel a soft flutter against my heart.
Imagine, me, the prince of all the Saiyans, feeling butterflies at
that bakayaro's smile. Perhaps I should take the Onna's suggestion and
take some anti-depressants or something.

P.S. Must speak to Kakarrot about that perfume he seems to be wearing
these days. It is beginning to affect my concentration."

"Sugoi! Your dad's heart flutters?" Goten asked, with a puzzled look
on his face.

"Yeah...kinda hard to believe." Trunks replied quietly. "Hey, Goten,
it gets better!"

"February the third,

He touched me today. Of course, we have to touch when we spar, that is
understandable, but this was more than that. He actually gave me a
real touch! He placed his hands on my shoulder and sweet Kami! I
nearly passed out at the strange warmth that seemed to flow through
me. I cannot understand it! Why this sudden urge to have Kakarrot all
to myself? For him to smile at me and only for me? For him to want
me....as much as I want him. Yes, oh sweet Kami, yes. I do want him,
need him, and it is a gradual burning that flows through my being. I
couldn't have those kinds of feelings for him, could I? Kami, I am so
confused.

Spoke to the baka about the perfume issue, claims he dosen't wear any.
Ha! I fully intend to put a stop to it, by any means necessary!"

"Your dad wants my dad?!" Goten asked, eyebrows so high up his face in
surprise, they nearly disappeared into his hair.

"I guess so..." Trunks whispered softly. Flipping over, he frowned as
he was faced with several pages written in Saiyago. Finally, he saw
another page that he was able to read.

"April the fourteenth,

The baka kept me waiting! How dare he!! We were supposed to spar today
and he goes off to some Kami-forsaken place with his shrill harpy of a
mate and that brat of his!"

Trunks stopped at this and grinned sheepishly at Goten, who looked as
blank as ever. Shaking his head in exasperation, he continued,

"He did not even have the common decency to tell me he would be going
anywhere with that onna!! There I was, the Prince of all Saiyans, HIS
PRINCE, waiting for that baka to show up!! Naturally, I went over to
his house to pay a little visit. I think I need to have my ears
checked now, because that witch began shrieking at me for yelling at
Kakarrot. Not that it was any of her business. This was between he and
I, and as far as I am concerned, she does not exist. The baka thought
of some lame excuses, but I could see right through that act. He has
promised to make it up to me and I have every intention of making sure
he does."

"April the fifteenth,

I swear Kakarrot is driving me slowly, but surely, insane. We sparred
again today, much longer than usual, because of his little mishap
yesterday. And that Kami-forsaken scent! Kuso! He suddenly had the
bright idea of going for a swim. The man has no scruples or shame. Hn.
Why should he? He began stripping in front of me, smiling like the
complete moron that he was and asked me to join him! I hate to say
this, but seeing that body, so bronzed and perfect, made me feel like
a livewire. I would have exploded at any slight touch. I tried to join
him, but I was too...yes...I will write it ....nervous. I could not
get too close to him. I did not want him to sense the way I felt. I
know he will hate me for it and the last thing I need is for Kakarrot
to lose his trust in me."

Trunks, by this time, had gone completely and totally red-faced. He
couldn't believe that his own father felt that way about another man,
and not just any man, but Goten's father!

Giving Goten a sly glance, he snorted at the clueless look on his best
friend's face. Sighing, he continued, needing to know what happened
next.

"April the twenty-first,

It finally happened today. It just happened. We both couldn't control
it, even if we tried."

At this point, the normal, neat handwriting, seemed to waver as if
Vegeta had been shaking or something.

"We kissed. Just as simple as that. I don't know who started it,
neither do I really care at this point, but the feeling was beyond
comparison, beyond anything I have ever felt. I have had fantasies and
dreams of what Kakarrot would taste and feel like and I got a first
glimpse today. Kami! He was warm, soft, hard, sweet, and exotic all at
the same time. I am not sure if he sensed my growing need for him, but
I could have sworn I saw a similar passion in his eyes. Oh, please!
Let it not be my imagination running wild again. This is killing me
slowly. I am not sure if I can stand it anymore.

PS. Did I mention that his scent drives me absolutely and completely
insane?"

"EWWWW!!" Goten cried out, screwing up his face in disgust. "How can
your dad and my dad.... kiss?"

"Geez, Goten! Everyone does it!" Trunks admonished, glaring at him.

"Only boys and girls do it! Even I know that!"

"Boys and boys can do it too. If they are best friends or
something...."

Both boys fell silent for several moments, as the last sentence sunk
in slowly. Finally,

"NO WAY!! I am not kissing you, Trunks!! EWWW!! Too gross!!" Goten
cried out again, sticking his tongue out and making gagging noises.

"Oh, please! Gimme a break! Like I would want to kiss you! Hmph!!"
Trunks huffed angrily and then turned his head away.

"Well? Are you gonna continue reading or what?" Goten asked after
Trunks remained mute for several more minutes.

"Whatever...." He mumbled, not looking at Goten. Picking the book up,
he flipped through the remaining pages, not finding anything
particularly interesting, until he saw...

"Whoa!!" he exclaimed, clutching the book tightly and raising it close
to his face.

"Hey! Let me see!! That's not fair!! Come on, Trunks!!"

"I am the one reading it! So, you listen!!" Grinning smugly, he began
reading again.

"May the third,

Kakarrot continues to surprise me in more ways than one. Today I saw
something I thought I would never see. The true Saiyan warrior that he
is. And oh, sweet Kami! It is a sight to behold. The ferocity, the
vitality, the lust, the desire, the predator all rolled in one
man...it's enough to make me want to BOW at his OWN FEET!

Today, I cried. I wept in his arms, for we finally let it happen. What
I had longed for all my life. The joy, the completion of being one
with another true warrior, truly it is beyond description. I have
never felt this much peace and stability in my life and I know it all
comes from one man. The man I have given myself up to. The man I have
chosen to be my mate for the rest of our lives. The man I love. Mine
forever. My Kakarrot."

Trunks shut the book up with a snap and rested his head on his
drawn-up knees, looking off into the distance. Silence reigned for
several more minutes as each boy drifted off into their own thoughts.

"Soooo....your dad really likes my dad, then?" Goten finally asked.

Trunks nodded absentmindedly as a frown lit his handsome face. Turning
around to look at his best friend, he spoke softly,

"Yeah. I guess deep down inside, my dad has always loved your dad.
It's just that he is too stubborn to show it."

"But what about your mom? Aren't you mad or something?"

"Nah! I figured my dad and mom like each other a certain way and your
dad and mine were....you know...sort of meant to be." He answered,
shrugging, as he stared poignantly at his best friend.

"Oh..."

"Ready to go now?" Trunks asked suddenly, jumping up and dusting
himself off, before tucking the book within his clothes.

"Yeah! I am hungry!!" Goten replied, smiling.

Grinning in reply, both boys powered back up into their golden forms
and headed off into the setting sunset, with new insights in the mind
of a certain Saiyan Prince.

THE END
