I owns nobody… for now. Chapter 8 : Two Phoenixes meet After the battle at Xia Kou, Wu came into a state of peace, where Sun Ce decided to concentrate on building the kingdom. Helped with Sun Quan, he managed to build Wu into a powerful kingdom. However… one day, Sun Ce was talking with Hikaru about something in his chamber. “Well, I think I should ask you about this…” Sun Ce started, “You know, I already decided that Quan will succeed me when I’m dead… so…” “Don’t say that !” Hikaru said, shaking her head. She didn’t want to learn if Sun Ce was on his dying age. As she hung her head, she said, “Ce, don’t tell me that you… you’ll leave… I don’t want you to leave…” “Whoa, hey, calm down will ya ? Who said I’m gonna leave this world !?” Sun Ce said as he laughed, “You’d be best to stop thinking of bad things !” “Anyway… uh, I was wondering.” He then continued back to his former subject, “How am I going to see how far has he developed his skills…?” “Well…” Hikaru thought, trying to think the best way to help Sun Ce. She then remembered on her days in the school. Wherever there’s a huge group work, a leader was always appointed. ‘That’s it ! I can use that.’ Hikaru thought as she continued, “Um… maybe you could led Quan lead your kingdom for awhile ?” “That could work… but I can’t think of an excuse…” Sun Ce said, but suddenly, a messenger came to him and said, “My lord ! Lord Zhou Yu reported that the Shanyue tribe has conducted a suspicious move to the south of our land !” Hearing that, Sun Ce immediately jumped from his seat and exclaimed, “Now this is what I call chance ! Get the generals to the throne room ! And, Hikaru, you come with me.” Eventually, the Wu generals assembled at the throne room, and Sun Ce was sitting on his throne. He then spoke, “All right, as Zhou Yu said, the Shanyue tribe has been acting rather suspicious to the south…” Zhou Yu then stepped forward to the side of Sun Ce and said, “This is right. If we do not take care of this, it will certainly bring unnecessary troubles… We must take care of it.” Sun Ce then continued, “I’ve decided that I’ll go handle this myself with some people.” “But, Lord Sun Ce. Who will lead this kingdom if you’re gone ?” Taishi Ci objected. However, Sun Ce dismissed it and said, “I got it under control ! Quan, you take over me for this kingdom. Lead it while I’m gone !” “Brother…! Am I worthy of such position ?” Sun Quan tried to protest, but Sun Ce replied, “This is also a way to see how good you are as my successor, though I’m sure you’ll do just fine. Don’t worry ! With Zhou Yu around, it’ll be no problem !” “So, Sun Ce, I take that you want me to stay here as Sun Quan’s advisor, correct” Zhou Yu asked, already predicting what Sun Ce was going to do. And he nodded in agreement. He then stood up and said, “Now I’ll announce who shall go with me. Hikaru, Shang Xiang, Taishi Ci, you’re going with me.” “All right ! Time to show girls’ power again !” Sun Shang Xiang exclaimed in excitement as she looked at Hikaru and asked, “Right, Hikaru ?” “Um… yeah, I guess !” Hikaru said, smiling. Taishi Ci did nothing but bowed in agreement. Sun Ce nodded, and then he turned his attention to the young apprentice warrior, Lu Xun. “Lu Xun, you come with me as my strategist.” Sun Ce said, “You’ve studied enough. Now is the time to show your abilities in battle !” “… Yes sir. I will not disappoint you.” Lu Xun said as he stood up and put his hands together and bowed, confirming his assignment. However, just before Lu Xun could sit down again, a certain girl raised her hand and said, “Lord Sun Ce !” “Yes, what is it, Da Qiao ?” Sun Ce asked the older Qiao, and she answered “I… I want to go too !” “Heheh. Lemme bet the reason.” Sun Ce said with a joking tone, “You don’t want to be far away from Lu Xun, do you ?” “Eh !? I…” Da Qiao said, but she was quickly speechless and blushed. Sun Ce laughed and said, “Ha ! I knew it ! I knew there’s some thing between you two !” “Um, my lord.” Lu Xun interrupted, despite that he also blushed, “I think Da just wanted to show that she can also fight. Maybe you should let her in ?” “Lu Xun, who said I’m refusing her ?” Sun Ce then talked back, “I’m letting her in !” “Thank you, my lord !” Both Lu Xun and Da Qiao thanked Sun Ce as he nodded. He then spoke again, “Gan Ning, Ling Tong, you guys are coming with me too.” Hearing this, Gan Ning smashed his fists together and said, “All right ! Time to kick some butt !” However, this was not the case of Ling Tong, as he just glared at Gan Ning in anger, while he’s not looking at him. ‘I got put into work with this jerk !? Hooray. But I guess I can get to see if he’s truly loyal to Lord Sun Ce or he’s gonna treat him as he did to Huang Zu…’ “All right, end of discussion !” Sun Ce exclaimed, “We’ll depart two days later ! Get ready until then !” Afterwards, the meeting was over and everyone parted their ways… Two days later, Sun Ce led his troops away from Wu to deal with the Shanyue tribe, leaving Sun Quan as the temporary ruler of Wu… xxxx Back in the present day, Japan, in a certain house, a blond haired girl with glasses was just done doing her homework in the afternoon. She closed her book and smiled as she muttered, “Whew. I finally finished it…” Just then she heard a call from the downstairs, “Lunch’s ready, Fuu ! Come down here !” “Coming, mother !” The girl called Fuu replied as she exited her own room and went down for lunch with her family. Unknown to her, she didn’t hear a sound of ‘BOOM’ right after she exited her room, and a figure materialized there. Around twenty to thirty minutes later, Fuu was done with her lunch and went back to her room. But she was shocked when she entered, as she saw someone was already there… it was none other than Zuo Ci once again. “Um… may I ask who you are ?” Fuu asked politely, even though she was a bit frightened. “You may just call me Zuo Ci.” Zuo Ci said as he fanned himself with his cards. He then walked around and said, “Hououji Fuu, Magic Knight of Wind… You were aware of a dream about my land ruling over yours with iron fist, correct ?” Hearing that, Fuu gasped in shock. ‘How did he know my name… my identity as a Magic Knight… and that dream !?’ Last night, Fuu received that similar dream where China ruled the world with iron fist and enslaved the other nations. This was why she was quite worried and while it usually took her a short time to finish homework, she took longer to finish that homework she just did before. “How did you know about it ?” she asked Zuo Ci, and he answered, “It was something I foreseen with my fellow magician. Unfortunately, someone in my timeline was trying to do something that will change the history and will make that nightmare come true.” “Oh my…” Fuu commented as she was taken to the story, and Zuo Ci continued, “However, all is not lost. That someone can be stopped by a group of individuals. One of them are… you. And you must stop him.” Fuu was even more shocked after hearing this. She then asked, “But… why me ? Why can’t it be someone else ?” Fuu was quite scared. Scared that she’ll have to do it again… to kill Princess Emeraude with her own hand… Zuo Ci shook his head and said, “Let me ask you. If your future is at stake, would you fight for it ? Would you fight to prevent that nightmare becoming your future ?” Fuu was silent for a while. She was a bit doubting on Zuo Ci’s words, but she knew that if she’s chosen to fight for sake of her future, she cannot run away. “I… I want to protect my future as well…” Fuu answered, and soon a smile was formed on Zuo Ci’s mouth. Just like what he did to Hikaru and Umi, he chanted his spells and granted it to Fuu as she felt a slight chill. “What was that…?” Fuu asked, and Zuo Ci said, “It’s what you need for your quest… Your armor, your sword, your magic… and a new single time spell… However, I cannot grant you the ability to summon or don with your Rune God, Windam…” “Um… I have a question.” Fuu said once more, “What am I supposed to do in this quest ?” Zuo Ci nodded and said, “You must travel in my timeline and stop this someone who tried to change history… That’s all I can tell…” “The time is now… I wish you good luck…” Zuo Ci said as suddenly Fuu felt something strange. It felt like her world was fading away and she was suddenly inside a forest. “Where am I ?” Fuu wondered, and she began thinking, “My family must have been worried about me right now… But… I guess I have no choice but to go along with all this before I can come back.” Without any other hints to go, Fuu began traveling alone in the serene forest. It didn’t took her long to find a shelter… After a short walk, she found a hut… ‘Maybe someone’s there, so I can gather hints on my quest.’ Fuu then moved to the hut and tried to somehow ‘knock’ the door, but there was no answer. “Excuse me ?” Fuu called, “Anybody here ?” But, there was no answer. So, Fuu entered the door, and found the hut empty. There’s only a small bed, and a table full of books. “The owner of this hut must be quite a fan of reading.” She commented, but suddenly a certain feeling caught up with her… She got sleepy as she yawned. “I don’t think I can go on… I need some rest…” Fuu mumbled as she sat down on the bed and put aside her glasses, “I hope the owner will forgive me for this…” As Fuu said that, she lay on the bed and quickly fell asleep… xxxx Somewhere, a certain robed, masked man carrying a staff was riding his donkey in the forest. This man was the man known as Fledging Phoenix, Pang Tong. He was known to be a friend and a match with Zhuge Liang the Sleeping Dragon, but he felt like he should’ve been the better one. “If only I had more chance, I can show that Zhuge Liang how good I am.” Pang Tong muttered as he continued his ride, “Oh well, time goes on. I just gotta have patience…” Pang Tong quickly reached his hut, but to his surprise, the door was open ! “Well, what do you know ! There’s a thief that tried to steal from the hut of poor little me !” He quickly rode to the front of his hut and tied his donkey nearby. Entering the hut, he found Fuu still sleeping peacefully. “Well well, I never thought that the thief is a foreign looking girl, and she got guts to sleep in my bed too !” Pang Tong commented. “Uh…” Fuu began to wake up, triggered with Pang Tong’s comment. Looking at Pang Tong, she gasped and backed away, and asked, “A… are you… the owner of this hut ?” “Uh-huh. This hut is mine.” Pang Tong answered, “But, please don’t just stay away from me like that. I mean no harm, and… do I look like a monster to you ?” “Um… I guess not…” Fuu answered as she sighed in relief. She then bowed her head slowly and said, “Forgive me for sleeping without your permission… my name is Fuu. Hououji Fuu.” “Now that’s a weird name if I ever heard one.” Pang Tong said, nodding his head, “Don’t mind about why you sleep. It’s nothing special… Anyway, Pang Tong’s the name.” “Pang… Tong…?” Fuu was a bit shocked hearing his name. She read in the Romance of Three Kingdoms novel about a certain strategist with the same name. She then asked once more to make sure, “Are you… also referred as… Fledging Phoenix ?” “Wow. Never thought I get to be this famous.” Pang Tong said, a smile was formed behind his mouth cover, “Yep, that’s how some people call me.” Fuu was a bit surprised, ‘So I am transported to the Three Kingdoms Era !’ she thought. But then, she realized something… she didn’t wear her glasses ! To the top of it, she heard Pang Tong saying, “Hey, what’s this thing ? I’ve never seen things like this before…” At that time, he was investigating on Fuu’s glasses, holding and looking through it… “Mr. Pang Tong, please give it back !” Fuu pleaded, “I… I can’t see without it !” “Okay, okay. Here you go. Betcha you have a poor sight that you require something to see clearly.” Pang Tong said, handing over the glasses to Fuu and she wore it back, and said, “Thank you.” “Anyway, are you… lost ?” Pang Tong asked, and Fuu was silent for a while. ‘No, I cannot tell him my mission now… he wouldn’t understand even though I know he’s smart.’ “Um… well… I guess you can say that.” Fuu lied. Pang Tong suddenly nodded and said, “Okay. For now you can stay with me. Don’t worry, I’m not some sort of bad person, you know.” Fuu nodded and from that day, she stayed at Pang Tong’s hut, even though she knew her journey wasn’t over… xxxx Back in Wu, it has been quite some time since Sun Ce left to handle the troubles about the Shanyue tribe to the south. Sun Quan showed a great ability as a ruler and ruled the land well. However, one day, a messenger came running to the throne room. “Report, my lord !” The messenger said, bowing to him, “An envoy from Liu Bei has arrived and he has requested an audience !” “Liu Bei ?” Sun Quan muttered. He did hear about his tales that he worked together with Sun Quan’s father Sun Jian to quell both the Yellow Turbans Rebellion and Dong Zhuo’s tyranny. “This could prove to be interesting. Let him in !” Sun Quan ordered the messenger and the messenger exited. “What do you think, Zhou Yu ?” Sun Quan turned to the advisor, and Zhou Yu nodded, saying, “I agree. This is indeed a rare and interesting opportunity. I wonder what do that envoy have to say…” Soon, the envoy entered. This man was none other than Zhuge Liang. “I give you my utmost greetings, King of Wu.” Zhuge Liang said as he bowed politely, “My name is Zhuge Liang. I am the strategist of Lord Liu Bei. I bear an information to you…” “Thank you, but please don’t call me King.” Sun Quan said, “The truth is, I’m just a temporary ruler. My brother Sun Ce was away to the south, and I am left in charge here.” “Very well, Lord Sun Quan.” Zhuge Liang replied, and then Zhou Yu stepped forward and said, “Well, what information do you have here ?” “Cao Cao has amassed his army and has headed south. It would be sure that he will come invade Wu…” Zhuge Liang started, “Lord Sun Quan, I implore you, let us fight together against one common enemy… Cao Cao.” “Hmm…” Sun Quan was silent, “I guess it’s true that Cao Cao has gotten too powerful. He’s becoming a threat to us… Zhou Yu what do you think ?” “Hm…” Zhou Yu began to thought, “In order to reach here, Cao Cao will have to cross the Yellow River… He is not that well versed in naval battle. If we’re going to crush Cao Cao, we must crush him in naval battle.” “We can use Chi Bi as our base of operations.” Sun Quan said, and Zhou Yu nodded, “All right. The stage is set. And now, we will need a strategy… knowing that Cao Cao has a massive army.” “I thank you for your cooperation.” Zhuge Liang thanked them, “To make the planning easier… I will bring a friend of mine who’s equally as intelligent as I am. Soon, Lord Liu Bei will arrive. In the mean time, I’ll go fetch my friend and then we can go on with our strategy discussion.” “Wait, Zhuge Liang.” Zhou Yu said, “A friend as equally as intelligent as you, you said… Are you referring to HIM ?” Zhuge Liang then turned his face to him and nodded… “Yes… the Fledging Phoenix, Pang Tong…” xxxx

Simple, both are of the element of wind (Pang Tong’s orb is kinda like wind orb), and Fuu’s Rune God, Windam, is a Phoenix, whereas Pang Tong is the Fledging Phoenix. Anyway, please read and review !
