Kisa had slept fitfully all the way from Tokyo to Los Angeles, and on the bus ride from Los Angeles to Sunnydale. Now she was standing at the front door of a house. She was fairly certain it was the right house, but there was no way to be absolutely sure until she knocked on the door.

 

*knock knock*

 

The door opened to reveal a black girl with long dreadlocks.

 

“I- I am looking for…” began Kisa in halting English.

 

“Buffy?” asked the girl.

 

“Hai.”

 

“Ummm… `Hi' to you too. Buffy's at work right now… are you a Potential?”

 

“A… nani?”

 

“Sorry, I don't speak… I can't even tell what you're speaking. Come on in, we'll find someone who can translate. Mr. Giles knows this language stuff.”

 

The black girl took a step back and let Kisa in, shutting the door behind her. Kisa slipped off her shoes.

 

“I'm Rona,” said the black girl, extending a hand. Kisa looked at her in confusion. Rona awkwardly changed her motion so that her hand rested on Kisa's shoulder. “What's your name, sweetie?”

 

“Atashi… I… My name is Kisa.”

 

“Kisa, huh? Okay Kisa, let's go find someone who speaks more than just English.”

Fifteenth year of the Hei Sei era (Hiro-kun's year)

Everyone here is really nice. Giles-san doesn't speak much Japanese, but I brought Kagura-oneechan's Japanese-English dictionary, which makes things easier. Buffy-san explained that the First Evil wants to kill everyone who could be a Vampire Slayer, so we're here to train to fight evil, and for our protection. There are lots of Potential Slayers here besides me: Kennedy-oneechan, Rona-oneechan, Molly-oneechan, Vi-oneechan, Chao Ahn-oneechan, Amanda-oneechan, Chloe-oneechan, and I forget the rest of their names. Buffy-san is the only Slayer, but Dawn-oneechan, Buffy-san's little sister, says that there's another Slayer in jail in Los Angeles. It's all very confusing. The other people here are Giles-san, who is a Watcher (for some reason, Giles-san reminds me of Hatori-ojichan. But only a little); Willow-san, who is a witch; Anya-san, who used to be a demon but she's human now; Spike-san, who is a vampire but doesn't eat people; Xander-san, who doesn't have any special powers but knows how to fight evil and is good at fixing things; and Andrew-oniichan, who is just there. Andrew-oniichan kind of reminds me of Kureno-ojichan, but only because of the American-superhero-manga obsession (Kureno-ojicahn doesn't know I know about that).

 

I wonder how things are going at home. Akito-san is probably furious. I hope he doesn't hurt anyone. It will take them a while to find where I went, and hopefully by then I'll know enough about fighting vampires to keep fighting on my own.

 

I'm going shopping with the others tomorrow because I only brought two days worth of extra clothes, this diary, Kagura-oneechan's dictionary, my toothbrush and some money, so I need to buy some things.
