Hatori stayed calm and rubbed Mayu's back in an attempt to comfort her. In his mind he swore that if no one else did, he'd kill the bastard that would dare hurt his wife; but his first priority was to console his obviously distressed wife, "When did this happen?" She gripped the back of his shirt tightly as she gave him the honest answer,

"Do you remember that day I came home and was all bruised?"

"Yes, but I thought that you fell off the----oh my god." Realization hit him like a ton of bricks.

"Yeah. That was when it happened Hatori...I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner." Her stood silently, cradling Mayu and gently rocking her. He kissed the top of her head and whispered into her hair in the most sincere tone,

"Thank you for not hiding this from me, Mayu." Her eyes widened. She had been expecting him to yell, get mad, anything...but when she looked up, he was looking at her with the most love that she had ever seen in her life. His was a look she had never seen before; thinking back to when he and Kana had been together, he wouldn't even look at Kana like that.

"Hatori? You aren't angry at me for this?"

"You didn't ask to be raped, now did you?" She shook her head.

"Then of course I'm not angry at you. I'm angry that someone would have the nerve to put his hands on you in such a way though." She was amazed that Hatori could be so sincere with her, telling her exactly what she needed to hear, and be there for her when she needed him most. "Tell me one thing Mayu." She looked up at him again,

"What?"

"Did you tell anyone at all what really happened?" She nodded in response, "Who?"

"Akito-san...and only Akito-san." Hatori nodded; his wife had made a good decision, he knew Akito would not tolerate such a thing being done to anyone in HER family.

"Good idea. As long as she knows, no one will get away with this. But listen, I bet you're hungry from all that crying. Why don't the two of us go out for a special dinner?" Mayu perked up a little bit.

"Really? Akito-san will take care of it?"

"When she feels better she'll hunt that bastard down, believe you me. When Yuki was younger, she just about killed the guy who tried to kidnap him." Mayu giggled softly, thinking of a young Akito going after someone.

"Yeah, I think I'll take you up on your offer for dinner."

"Great." he smiled at her, and she smiled back...then he leaned down and kissed her, forcing all the love he had for her into it. And hand in hand, the two Sohmas left for dinner.
