Moon Dream

~Chapter eleven

My head was pounding uncontrollably; my entire body ached. I wanted to die just so the pain would cease, but I couldn't. I could still see Relena's face, her hand reaching out for me, 'Come back to me, Heero.' she'd whispered ever so softly. She had been so close to me, so very close. I could almost smell her perfume, almost reached out and touched her, but when I had, she had disappeared. No! Relena, come back, I had silently screamed, but then everything had gone black as I was swept away to sweet oblivion… Even in my unconscious mind, I was tormented. I could see the blood I had caused, it was all over my hands, scarlet red, staining my skin, I couldn't get it off, and the more I tried, the more blood appeared. It was all over the front of me, all over my clothes, my skin, the floor; the amount of blood just grew and grew. I could hear the scream of the soldiers that I had killed, of the lives that I had taken, the death that I had caused… Then… Relena appeared through it all. She was standing in front of me, smiling tenderly. She stepped closer to me, Let me help you Heero. I had reached out to touch her cheek, but then I remembered the blood… I tried to step away from her, but she only stepped closer, I turned around to run, only to find myself running towards her, I kept trying to get away from her, but no matter where I turned, she was there, waiting for me, smiling at me, reaching for me… An invisible force seemed to grab me, pulling at me, holding me down. I fell to my knees, not having the strength to stand, I was on my hands and knees gasping for air, when I saw Relena. Let me help you Heero. I looked up at her; her beautiful blue eyes smiled down at me, telling me I could trust her, and to just give in and lean on her. I tried to stand, put couldn't find the strength, collapsing again, holding onto her, my arms around her waist, my head limply lay against her breasts as I gasped for air. She had her arms around me, and one hand stroked my hair, moving through it like the wind in the trees. Her voice whispered soft, soothing words, that I couldn't understand, they were all a blur, wrapping around me like the wings of a guardian angel. Wearily, I lifted my head, looking into the face of my angel,

'Relena…'

'I'm here Heero'

'Don't leave me…'

'Never. I'll never leave you.' I laid my head back down against her chest,

'I love you Relena…'

"Heero… please open your eyes and look at me. Please." her voice begged. I struggled to open my eyes and look at her again, but just couldn't seem to. "Heero, please open your eyes and look at me. It's me, Relena. Look at me Heero. Please, Heero, I need you, you can't leave me." her voice was choked, "Please… I love you…" she whispered, almost begging. I tried again to open my eyes, and slowly saw a small bit of light, then more, then… I saw her face. Beautiful. Her beautiful face looked at me through saddened eyes, tears stained her cheeks.

"R-relena…" I stared at her in disbelief. Was it really her? No, it couldn't be. I was dead. I had to be dead.

"Heero!" she gasped, then wrapped her arms around me, her head against my chest,

"Oh my darling Heero, I thought I'd lost you. Don't ever do this to me again. I love you Heero, I love you so much." I could feel her shaking as she cried, but the most I could do was weakly lift an arm to put around her waist. She lifted her head, and I looked at her,

"Why do I have to be so implausibly in love with you?" I asked her as I traced her jaw with my finger. She gave a small laugh, and I tried to smile; I dropped my arm down to the bed, patting the place next to me,

"Lay with me, Relena." She smiled, silently obeying, and curling up next to me on the bed. I wrapped my arm around her again, as I closed my eyes, drifting back to sleep…

~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (Persian Ice's POV)

I watched them intently; they were both lying on the narrow hospital bed, wrapped in each other's arms. Both, obviously content, in the arms of their beloved.

"How are you feeling?" a voice asked, turning I looked at Duo.

"I'm fine." he looked in the room were the couple slumbered,

"And all is right with the world." I looked at him confused,

"What do you mean?" I asked as he turned and began to walk away, with my following him.

"Heero and Relena have been crazy about each other for years, and the only question left was when were they going to confess it to each other and get together."

"So…"

"So, whether or not you realized it. You never had a chance with the girl. Her heart was stolen the day that she found him." I stared at him in surprise,

"What?"

"Oh nothing, I'm just surprised you're talking to me about this, well… talking to me at all." He gave a small laugh,

"I'm in a good mood, the earth was saved, and so far we're all still alive."

"What do mean by 'still'?"

"Sally doesn't know if Milliardo is going to make it. He barely has enough blood in his system to keep him alive, and Sally doesn't have the equipment to do a blood transfusion. So he might not make it through the night, there is very little hope, so now it's only a matter of time."

"Does Pri-, I mean, Relena know yet?"

"No. She knows it's serious, but she doesn't know the extent."

"Poor girl…"

"Yeah well, in a few hours, you won't care anymore."

"What?!"

"Sally is going to fix you to where you are no longer programmed and controlled by a microchip. You'll be back to whatever was your normal or should be your normal." I looked out the window into the vastness of space, and put my hand against the glass. It was cool beneath my hand, calming. In a few hours I would no longer be under anyone's control, but… what was I suppose to do? Would I know who I really was? Or was I really anyone? What about Princess? Would I still love her? Where would I go? A sense of emptiness consumed me. After I become 'normal'… then what? Did I really have a purpose outside of being some mad man's puppet? Or had I been created for just that and nothing more? Dozens of questions flew about me head, all unanswered, all possibly unanswerable. How was I suppose to live in a world in which I wasn't meant to? How would I know what to do? Where to go? What to say? My entire life that I could remember, had been controlled, but if I were to be free… What then?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~(Milliardo's POV)

Was I dead? I felt dead, or rather that I should be dead. I felt… disconnected and unattached, like in a dream, it was real, but it wasn't. I was numb, I knew I should be in a lot of pain, but I wasn't. Maybe this was a dream, maybe I was still in the cockpit of Hell's Angel, or maybe I was in the Sanc Kingdom, there to visit Relena, or maybe… I slowly tried to open my eyes. The ceiling. White walls. The sterile smell of alcohol and a hospital room. Noin… Noin was sitting on the edge of the bed, her head bowed and eyes closed; she almost seemed to be praying. I watched her; her eyelashes sparkled with unshed tears, and my heart tore. Why did I do this to her again? I caused her to cry over me again. How many times had she cried over me? How many times had I caused her to worry about me? Reaching up, I gently tugged on her sleeve; she quickly turned to look at me, gasping.

"Y-you're alive?"

"I was about to ask you that. Am I alive or is this a dream?" She smiled; reaching out to push a strand of my hair away from my face,

"Oh God am I glad that you are okay, Milliardo… but, I have some bad news."

"What?"

"Sally had to cut your hair. She wanted to cut it all off, but I wouldn't let her. But it's still a lot shorter, barely past your shoulders."

"Is that all? Anyone die yet?"

"No one that I know of." I sighed in relief, "Of course, I don't know about Relena… When you were brought in, she was pretty upset, and Dorothy and Trowa had to drag her out of the room…"

"Really?! I never thought she'd be that upset. About Heero, yes. But me?"

"You mean a great deal to a lot of people Milliardo, and there are a lot of people that love you." she whispered. I held my arm out to her, and she gently laid her head against my shoulder, carefully hugging me. I nuzzled her bangs, so thankful to be able to hold her so close, so thankful that I had her here to love. Love… I had yet to tell her that I loved her. I stroked her hair affectionately, but said nothing, for she had fallen asleep in my arms, and I quickly fell asleep as well.

"Milliardo Peacecraft, I order you to get back in that bed this instant." Sally exclaimed as she walked into the room. I looked up at her, fighting my urge to grin,

"No." Sally looked at Noin, who was my source of support since I couldn't stand on my own,

"And you! I can't believe you're helping him do this! Have you forgotten that he is suppose to be dead?!" Noin laughed,

"Yes, but I know he'd break his neck trying to do it himself if I didn't help him, so I decided to help him. I prefer him in one piece." Sally threw up her hands in defeat,

"This is ludicrous! Both you and Heero are the most stubborn and stupid patients, that I've ever had! Fine. Kill yourselves, even after I spent six hours trying to save you, and four and a half trying to save him, both of you are trying to get up and out of bed. If both of you die, then I can get some sleep, because I won't have to deal with you." Sally muttered, turning to leave. Noin helped me out into the hall where some of the others were standing around talking. Duo looked up first,

"I swear, him and Heero have more lives than a cat." I looked Duo and the others over. Duo's arm was in a sling, and he had several bandages, Trowa was on crutches, a brace covered his entire right leg, Quatre was bandaged in several places, and Treize had a black eye and a bandage around his head.

"Hiya dead man." Treize laughed,

"Funny, I seem to remember you in that exact situation when we were younger."

"Ha! That was only because you couldn't take a joke." He grinned, "But I got my revenge." Trowa looked at him,

"What did you do to him?"

"Dyed his hair pink while he was asleep, of course… with the help of a few sleeping pills." Duo and the others started laughing at this comment,

"Yeah, we always were great friends." I laughed shaking my head. Noin looked at me,

"I think I remember that. You wore a hat all day."

"You mean you didn't have you're helmet?"

"No… back then I just wore these dark sunglasses all the time."

"So that was you that saved me that time?" a voice asked, I looked up to see Relena supporting Heero as they slowly made their way down the hall. I nodded,

"Yes, that was me." she shook her head,

"And I never made the connection."

"Few ever could." She smiled; I looked at Heero. He had bandages all around his head, one arm practically covered in bandages, and a brace on his right leg.

"You look like Hell warmed over." I replied; he snorted,

"You don't look too bad yourself."

"All things considered."

"Indeed." We all chatted, Duo as usual, telling jokes and making an idiot out of himself. Heero didn't stay long, soon returning back to his room, Relena supporting his every step. And soon, the other began to drift to different areas, as Noin and I turned to go back to my room. When the others were out of hearing range, Noin looked at me,

"They were all pretty worried about you, you know."

"Actually… I didn't know. Treize… maybe, and Relena, but I would have never thought the others."

"Yes, your permanently apart of the picture now. Duo was talking about 'the gang', and when I asked him who all was in 'the gang', he said him, Heero, Trowa, Quatre, Wufei, Relena, and Zechs."

"Uh huh…"

"You should be flattered."

"It's bettered then being the hated enemy."

"You're not funny, and if you weren't in such horrible condition, I'd hit you right now."

"Some pacifist you'd make."

"Look who's talking." I looked down at her and she smiled at me, her eyes dancing mischievously at her joke,

"Have I ever mentioned the fact that I love you?" I asked, she stared at me in surprise,

"I-uh- no… I don't think you have."

"Well it's about time I did, don't you think?" she nodded, her cheeks turning pink. I suppressed a chuckle, "I love you, Noin." I whispered, brushing my lips against hers…

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~(Relena's POV)

"It's finally over." I sighed, falling into the chair next to Heero's bed. He looked at me,

"Yes… and you and I can finally be together." he paused looking out of his window into outer space, "I must confess something, Relena. During the battle, I didn't think I'd make it, and told Sally to tell you good-bye for me."

"So what happened?"

"She told me I was a coward, she'd tell you that I gave up, and that she didn't plan on keeping Persian Ice away from you, because I should be here to stop him, and would be if I really loved you." He turned back to me, "but I do love you, you must never forget that! I would die if I ever thought I did anything to hurt you, or if I thought I was responsible for the inhumane things Persian Ice did to you. Relena, you mean more to me than anyone or anything else in this universe ever has! And I hate myself for the times I've made you cry, for the times I've hurt you, and for every time I never told you how I felt. I won't lie to you, I know I don't deserve you, I never thought I did deserve you, but I'll do anything if you'd let me stay in your life. Let me love you. Let me protect you. Relena, without you there is nothing but utter confusion and chaos in my life, it's a life where nothing makes sense, where nothing has meaning, and where my soul is in constant torment. Please let me be apart of your life, of your world." I got up from my chair, cupping his face in my hands,

"But don't you see Heero? You *are* my world."
