·Ane: Older Sister
·Hakama: a man's formal divided skirt (wide skirt-pants)
·Hanyou: Half Demon
·Haori: a wide-sleeved shirt-like Japanese garment.
·Hiraikotsu: Sango’s giant boomerang.
·Houshi: Buddhist Monk (respectful term)
·Inu: Dog
·Kitsune: Fox
·Kusarigama: Kohaku's sickle and chain.
·Miko: Priestess
·Ofuda: Paper charm used by Miroku to dispel evil.
·Osuwari: Translated as 'Sit' in the US anime, really means something more like 'down (you)'.
·Saimyoushou: Naruku's poisonous wasps.
·-Sama: (formal) Suffix that denotes rank and/or respect. Can be understood as Mr.; Ms.; Mrs. The level of respect in comparison to US terms would be more appropiatly understood as calling someone Lord or Lady. It is rude to call someone by this suffix if you do not know them or have not been introduce to them with this title.
·Shikon no Tama: Commonly refered to as Shikon Jewel or Jewel of Four Souls in the US translation.
·Taijiya: Exterminator; demon slayer.
·Taiyoukai: Lit. 'Great Demon'
·Tenseiga: Sesshoumaru’s sword which has the power to revive the dead.
·Tessaiga: Inuyasha’s sword. This piece has other forms such as Ryuurin no Tessaiga (Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga) which absords demon youki and Akai Tessaiga (Red Tetsusaiga) which can break most barriers.
·-Ue: (archaic, respectful) Lit. 'Above'. Used commonly in ancient times to denote a high respect for a family member. In the case of Kohaku; Ane-ue means 'big sister, above me' meaning he idolizes and looks up to Sango.
·Youkai: Demon
·Youki: Energies and power of youkai, often depicted as (ghostly) wind or mist.
