Chapter One: JustAChat
Clicking the log-in button on her computer screen, Kagome ran back to the kitchen to grab the last can of soda from the fridge and, as an afterthought, snatched a bag of chips from the pantry. A smile played over her lips when she heard the all familiar ding, indicating a successful connection to JAC (JustAChat). She hurried back into the living room and plopped down on the comfy computer chair. Soda and chips open before her in all their splendor, Kagome scanned the list of rooms and grinned when she hit pay dirt. Popping a dorito into her mouth she clicked on the room name and heard another ding:

Slayer^Babe: hiya Kags long time no see! Where the hell ya been girl?!?
Shikon_Beauty: lol hey Sango, yeah I know I havn’ been on in awhile, but I’ve been really busy at work lately ^.^
Slayer^Babe: aww poor ickle kago-chan. I swear they work you too hard girl. You should like, demand a raise or something lol
Shikon_Beauty: ::sigh:: aint it the truth tho lol. Anywho guess wut!!

Shikon_Beauty: oh yeah! Lol I almost forgot, my boss at the day care said that she’s hiring an extra hand!!! Isn’t that GREAT?! I finally get some help with those adorable, loving, sweet, little HELLIONS lol
Horny_Houshi: way kewl Kagome. I thought Kikyo would never get up off her ass long enough to get you some decent help
Slayer_Babe: oh please Kinky-ho? Actually do something for someone else? Not likely. Wut finally got her off said ass in the first place Kags?
Shikon_Beauty: ::grins evilly:: I told her that if she didn’ get me some help w/ them kids, then The Loving Arms Day Care Center would be short one employee, which of course would mean that she’d have to get off said ass and take care of those little darling all on her lonesome^^

Slayer^Babe: for once I agree w/ the lecher, nice job Kags, really nice. It’s bout time you put Kinky-ho in her place….I swear that woman should not be allowed w/in 6 ft. of any child

Kagome stretched, yawning. She eyed the now empty soda can and crumpled chip bag. She checked her watch: 10:00 P.M. Damn she was tired. Shutting down her computer, she gathered up her trash and walked across the tiny living room and padded softly into the equally small, yet slightly larger, kitchen where she threw the stuff away.
She stifled another yawn and made her way to the only bathroom in her small, but comfy apartment. Looking into the mirror, she cringed at the light gray smudges under her pretty cobalt eyes. Her face looked pale and tired, and she really was. She thought about her day as she gently washed her face.
Little Tony had stolen Mya’s doll…again, and hidden it…again. And yet again it had taken almost an hour to calm the poor little girl down, and another half an hour to bribe the location of the doll out of the oh so charming little boy. It had cost Kagome her last stick of gum and a handful of change to get the doll back, but the happy smile on Mya’s face had been worth it. As for Tony, he’d gotten a time out for taking the doll in the first place, which of course he was used to by then and it had hardly phased him in the lest. As soon as his time was done, he’d gone back to terrorizing the rest of the kids. Kagome had breathed a sigh of relief at 5 o’clock when the last child had been picked up. She’d slumped down in one of the kiddy chairs, looking around her with wide eyes. The play room was a battlefield of toys. Dolls and stuffed animals were everywhere, surrounded by a sea LEGOS and puzzle pieces. Groaning loudly, she’d pulled herself out of the chair set about the tedious game of ‘clean up’.
Now looking back in the mirror, the smudges where still under her eyes, but she looked a bit more fresh than a moment before. She sighed, taking out a brush to run through her long ebony locks. Finally satisfied, she flicked the bathroom light off and walked the short distance to her room, and fell into her waiting bed, not even bothering to change her clothes, or even pull the covers over her body. Even before her head hit the pillow, she was fast asleep.
