Chapter 7- Memories

 

Kagome kneeled down on the floor and picked up the two items and stared, she shook her head and went over and sat down, her back against the wall. She carefully placed the jewel in her pocket and opened the album

 

She gasped, in Kikyo's curvy writing the words The Higurashi and the no Taisho Family Album! were written. Slowly Kagome turned the page not exactly sure as to what she might find.

 

“Oh!” pictures of her and Inuyasha when they had been little children were on the first few pages. She laughed with tears on her eyes as she saw a picture of when she had insisted on putting hair bows in Inuyasha's hair, she had also some how managed to get him in a dress.

 

She remembered his father's laughter and how his mother had said he would be the most beautiful girl in the little `Miss Tokyo' pageant. Sesshomaru had commented saying that his brother must have been born in the wrong body.

 

Kagome could still remember how Inuyasha had chased Sesshomaru all around the shrine grounds, still clothed in her favorite dress. Inuyasha hadn't talked to her for weeks, she had asked Kikyo why, but every time she asked, Kikyo would burst into laughter not able to answer the question.

 

Kagome turned the page and gasped, a very good picture of Kikyo and Kakeromoro was on the page. Kakeromoro was holding Kikyo's left hand up to show off the engagement ring that he had given her, and Kikyo was shyly looking at the ground instead of at the camera, a blush across her cheeks.

 

Tears hit the picture as they escaped Kagome's eyes, she traced Kikyo's face with a finger and closed her eyes as pain overcame her. She then looked at the next page, but the picture there only made her tears come faster, it was a picture of her and Inuyasha just when they had started high school, it was the last picture in the album. Kagome closed it and stood up.

 

She pulled out the jewel and stared at it, something seemed vaguely familiar about it as though she had seen it before.

 

FLASHBACK:

 

“Mom! Dad!” a seven year old Kagome called out into the house, she dropped her school bag on the floor and followed the voices that she heard in the back of the house. She realized that they were her mom and dad.

 

She put her ear to the door and realized that she couldn't hear a thing they were saying, and so carefully not to draw their attention she slid into the room and under a table on the other side of the door.

 

She saw a flash of pink light and put her hands over her mouth as her father held up the most beautiful pink jewel that Kagome had ever seen in her very young life. She saw her mother shake her head and turn away from her father.

 

“Naraku will try to take it....we can't afford to keep it forever...” her mother said tiredly. Her father put the jewel back up from whence it must've come and turned back towards Kagome's mom.

 

“I know....but we have to keep it as long as we can, because if we don't...more people will have died at his hands than what have died at them right now.” her father whispered right as there was a loud crashing sound at the front door.

 

“Mr. and Mrs. Higurashi! We're here!” came Sesshomaru's and Inuyasha's voices.

 

END

 

Kagome remembered that all to well. She opened her apartment door with her keys and was pleased when she found that there was no one in her home. She knew Inuyasha was probably royally pissed at her now, but she could care less, after all it was his fault to began with.

 

She sat down on her couch and once again looked at the pictures, she looked up at a picture frame that she had nothing in up over the small fireplace in her apartment. She went over and got the frame down and pulled out the picture of her and Inuyasha with him dressed as a girl and put it in the frame.

 

She gave a girlish giggle and put the frame up on the mantle causing a folded piece of paper to fall to the floor, curiously Kagome picked it up and unfolded it to reveal Inuyasha's messy handwriting.

 

Kagome-

 

I'm sorry if I upset you. I didn't mean to, but you know me well enough to know that I can't control my mouth all that well. But I've given it some thought...tell Seeker to meet on the top of the Lath Bank at midnight.

Kagome gulped and looked at her clock, she had about twenty minutes, and it took thirty to get to the bank, she'd have to hurry, and so she dropped the note and touched her left shoulder and jumped off the balcony and went as quickly as she could to the bank and there she found Inuyasha waiting for her, impatiently.
