Prologue: Alone and Forgotten

A girl was walking underneath the moonlight, the shining light revealing her many wounds. She had cuts and bruises everywhere and she had a big slash wound near her stomach, but she paid no attention. Her mind wandered off, thinking of her past; her parents had been murdered, her brother was staying at a village, and for his safety, she could never see him again. She had been thrown out of that same village, everyone despised her, and now, the only person that had actually cared for her was dead. She was alone. She remembered a woman who had yelled at her at he village, telling her she was a freak and should get lost. She was forgotten. Nobody at the village seemed to remember her. She was forbidden. She was forbidden to have friends or to fall in love. “Oh, Kami-sama*, why can't the heavens open up and take me from this hell? I am forbidden. I am forgotten. I am alone.” She thought this aloud as she laid down on the cool, soft grass. Then she fell asleep, the moon shining brightly on the forbidden child.
