Buried Past

Listen to the sound of your heart beat,

In this world where love and hate meet,

As I slip away and fall into the abyss.

Trying to stand but I just fall,

In this world, for me there's so much more,

But buried so deep, I can never find.

Listen to the pounding in my ears,

In this world, dreams are crushed by fears,

And darkness engulfs the blinding light.

Just like pieces in the wind I drift,

Pieces of your puzzle that never fit,

Soul shattered, a heart never completed.

And yet in dreams I drowned,

In dark waters without a sound,

Deeper and deeper, I will not resurface.

So walk away and forget about me,

Leave behind the past and all the memories,

Let it all go before it all ends in heartbreak.

Fade away, like strangers on an empty street,

Strangers you forget, ones you never meet,

But for some reason, you continue clinging to the past.

And when you finally move on,

In a world attached by bonds,

You will slowly learn to forget.

Behind you, I watch as memories of you remain,

Along with the broken lies and the pain,

Because deep down, I know that I will never forget

That I once loved you
