How?
She'd never been good at waiting. She'd be the first to admit it and the last to try and change it.
"Patience." Some would say.
"Relax." Others would say.
"Just breathe." The rest of them would say.
How could she be patient, she'd ask, when she was always left behind to wait for the return of her teammates?
How could she relax, she'd want to scream to people who couldn't possibly understand, when she didn't know if they were dead or hurt or in danger and she wasn't there to guard their backs?
And finally, how could she possibly breathe, she'd whisper, when she knew they were hurt, when she would be forced to watch them lying prone on a sterile hospital bed, feeling her chest constrict and air struggle past the lump in her throat.
Tenten pressed her trembling hands against the cold glass that separated her from her heart and her strength.
Her voice was broken when she finally spoke.
"Neji . . . Lee . . ."
Tears dripped from her dark eyes.
"Wake up . . . please."
