Chapter Twenty
The Kids Aren't Alright
Azuna Riho sat atop of her rooftop, chin resting upon her knee. Her ocean blue eyes were caught within a pensive thought and concentration as the emerald eyed girl beside her cast a serious look. Hazumi Akina, who should've been at the hospital, cracked her fingers with her thumb, out of boredom from the silence.
"Well?"she asked.
"And you said you talked to Aiji-san?"Riho questioned.
"Yeah,"Akina stated.
"I don't know about this, Akina,"Riho stated. "It's dangerous, and we're only genin. We haven't learned everything we need to know to survive out there."
"We're tougher than our sensei's give us credit for,"Akina stated with a forming smile. "We can do this as long as we get our teams together."
"It's crazy,"Riho replied, standing up, her curls dancing in the swift breezes.
"We have a good lead on it,"Akina replied looking upwards, her emerald gaze, giving off a faint glow despite the dying light, showing signs of sincerity.
Riho sighed. "What did Aiji say?"
"She said she's in after much convincing,"Akina replied.
"I can see where the convincing would come in,"Riho groaned from stress.
"Look, if we do this, we have to do it tonight. Right now if possible. I'll sneak out of the hospital-"
"You already did that,"Riho smiled.
"Well yeah, but I mean, all we need is supplies. We were taught by two of the greatest ninjas in Konoha and possibly the world! What could possibly go wrong?"Akina asked, standing and placing hands on her hips.
"You know that everytime someone's asked, 'What could possibly go wrong', something ALWAYS goes wrong, right?"Riho asked with a raised brow.
"Are you in Riho?"Akina asked. "We could use a shinobi with medic-nin skills."
"We're supposed to deploy for Suna tommorrow, when you're charged to leave the hopital. Don't give your sensei another panic attack by leaving,"Riho attempted to convince.
Akina crossed her arms and looked out towards the setting sun and obvious pout upon her face.
"Don't go looking for revenge,"Riho requested.
"I wasn't looking for revenge,"Akina replied. "I was looking for justice. I overheard the Hokage talking about an underground organization network. If we could just find them, we could lead everyone to them."
"It's not our place to decide that,"Riho stated. "I heard Aiji-sans cousin talking about the situation to my parents. They are skilled enough to destroy a village. They would have no problem destroying us. We're strong but not that strong."
Akina sighed. "Always the voice of reason?" A weak smile came to her face as hues of gold caught her features.
"Only preventing the past from repeating itself,"Riho stated.
"The past from-what're you talking about?"Akina asked.
"Konoha doesn't need another avenger looking for justice, no matter how good the cause, Akina-san. And we don't need you to get hurt again,"Riho said.
"I guess so,"Akina sighed.
"I think it's time you got back to the hospital. I'll see you tommorrow,"Riho said.
"Alright. See you then,"frowned Akina. With a single leap, she was gone, and Riho turned her gaze back towards the fading sky.
"I wonder what Suna will bring?"

Morning came quickly to Konoha, as the selected ninjas prepared to deploy for Sunagakure. Gaara bid his farewells to Temari and Kankuro who would be staying in Konoha. The six young genins were hugging their families goodbye.
The Hazumis looked unsure of Akina going but it was Hokage's orders, and Akina was doing quite well.
"Promise me you'll try to stay safe,"requested Akina's sister Yuri, who knelt down to hug the thirteen year old.
"I promise Yuri-san,"Akina replied. Shiro popped up from behind Akina.
"Don't worry Yuri-san, I'll take good care of her,"Shiro grinned. Yuri gave Akina a smirk before nodding at Shiros words.
Naruto was saying his goodbyes to Iruka, when Sasuke and Kakashi walked over.
"Ready?"the perverted jounin asked.
"Yeah,"Naruto answered. "See you later, Iruka-sensei."
"Bye Naruto,"Iruka waved. Kakashi captured a goodbye kiss from Iruka and pinched his bottom before recieving a bop on the head from Iruka who merely shouted with a blush, "There are children around!"
"Are we set?"Gaara asked.
"Yeah yeah! Don't get your panties in a bunch,"Naruto joked. Gaara smiled.
"Alright lets go,"Gaara ordered. The Konoha ninjas waved their goodbyes to their families, as the Suna ninja's waked goodbye to their Kazekage.
Tsunade smiled as she noticed Sasuke loosely but cutely interlocking his fingers with Narutos.
"Those boys,"she chuckled.

Azuna Riho blew a large pink bubblegum bubble, ocean blue eyes half lidded to a bored glance, and hands behind her head. Beside her was Aiji who polished a kunai to cure her own boredom, and opposite her stood Team 3's male teammate, Azusa, who played cards with Yuki and Shiro, standing beside him. Currently, Yuki was winning.
Akina, exicted to be out of a hopsital bed and once again on a mission, bounced around, practicing no handed flips in front of Sasuke and Naruto. Sasuke looked like he was either going to suffer a heart attack (being that his student had JUST BEEN RELEASED from the hospital and was still recovering) or he was going to bop her on the head judging by the popping vein.
"Ne, Aiji-san,"Riho began. "Do you notice something different about Uzumaki-sensei?"
Aiji didn't even bother to look up.
"No,"she replied.
"You didn't even look,"Riho said.
Aiji raised her steel gray glance to see Naruto.
"What about him?"asked Aiji, turning a tilted head to face Naruto.
"Why is he walking kinda funny?"Riho asked.
Aiji squinted her eyes onto Naruto's steps.
"Hmm,"Aiji pondered. "Now that you mention it...he is walking a little funny."
"I wonder why,"Riho pondered.
Shiro looked over at Riho and Aiji.
"Hey, what're you girls talking about?"he asked.
"Uzumaki-sensei,"they both whispered in unison after Naruto tilted his head back to check on the Teams, and gave Riho and Aiji an especially suspicious or curious glance. They weren't sure which one it was.
"What about him?"Azusa asked.
"Look at his walk,"Aiji instructed. Azusa and Shiro also squinted.
"Why is he walking kinda funny?"Azusa asked the girls, who shrugged in response.
Up ahead, Sasuke chuckled softly, hands in his pockets. Narutos face was red with embarassment and he glared at his lover. Using chakra to enhance their hearing slightly, they were able to hear the Teams' conversation.
Naruto attempted to fix his posture, but winced slightly. "Teme,"he mumbled to Sasuke.
"Shh, do you think he can hear us?"Shiro asked the group.
"Nah,"Riho stated. "You think he sat on a tack?"
"A tack,"Aiji asked face scrunching up a bit. "Nah, I don't think so."
"Maybe, just maybe, now hear me out,"Azusa began, "Maybe he was just walking by, when all of a sudden hundreds of paddle-wielding fraternity boys came out of nowhere and ran him down. Poor Uzumaki-sensei tried to escape but alas he couldn't." Azusa finished with a dramatic sigh, on a stage with the spot light on him.
Aiji and Shiro chibifyied in the front of the theater, held up signs of negative 10. Riho smacked her comrade on his head. "Paddle-wielding fraternity boys?"
"What's a fraternity?"Shiro asked. They all shrugged.
"Ignore him,"Riho instructed.
"But Riho,"whined Azusa with fake tears.
"Shove it!"Riho commanded. She then snorted. "That couldn't have happened."
"Why not?"Azusa asked.
"Because!"
"Oh, that's a good answer,"Azusa replied sarchastically before Riho shot him a deadly glance that immediately shut him up.
Up ahead Narutos face only got redder.
"Naruto, you look ready to pop,"Sasuke stated with a smug-bastard grin.
"Shut up,"Naruto grumbled. Sasuke chuckled.
"Paddle-wielding...where do they get this stuff?"he asked himself with a roll of the eyes.
"Maybe he and Hatake-sama sparred and Hatake-sama used that Thousand Years of Pain jutsu on him?"Shiro suggested.
Yuki began to get curious as well, overhearing his comrades in their conversation and decided to finally interject. "Maybe Uzumaki-sensei got hit in the butt with a door knob?"
"Yeah, he could've been standing on one side of the door and someone didn't know and they accidently slammed it open!"Aiji whispered.
In their combined thought bubble, for some reason they all envisioned Rock Lee gallantly popping into a room, saying something about youth and spring time and stuff like that, and seeing poor Naruto's face grow comically suprised/pained.
"Hmm,"all of them said at once.
"Maybe Sakura-san kicked him in the ass?"Akina suggested, suddenly popping up beside them, slightly flushed from all the flips she did.
At that point in time, everyone had tuned into the conversation. Sakura held up a victory sign. "I like that theory,"she whispered to Ino. Kakashi chuckled slightly and fellow jounin who was chosen to join on the trip, Yuhi Kurenai, gave a curious glance to Naruto. Neji, who stood by Gaara, stiffled laughter as did Sasuke. Naruto was crimson and threatend to steam at the ears. Testing the heat radiating from Naruto's cheeks, Sasuke licked the tip of his finger and touched the other boys face. The result was a satisfyied sizzle.
"I can't believe I didn't notice it before,"Kurenai leaned in and whispered. "He is walking quite funny." Kakashi chuckled and pulled out one of his Icha Icha books, in which he intented to show Kurenai HIS theory.
"Maybe he has hemroids?"snickered Shiro, causing several almost failed attempts of stiffled laughter from every person around them except for Naruto.
"Noo!"argued Akina. "A rash!"
Once again, Ino, Sakura, Kakashi, Kurenai, Sasuke, Neji and Gaara faught to hold back their laughter, eyes popping in the process and their own faces turning red. Naruto...well lets just guess his reaction.
"A rash from what?"Riho asked. "It's not like he wears diapers!"
"Good point,"they all sighed. "Any other theories?"
"Maybe he sat on a hot stove?"Yuki suggested.
"Got poked with a katana in training?"Aiji suggested.
Ino couldn't hold it back any longer. Sakura was ready to die from held back laughter.
"Can I?"Ino almost laughed, tears forming in her eyes.
"Yes, tell them,"Sakura instructed, burying her face in her hands and laughing a little bit.
The blond haired kunoichi stepped foreward, into the unsuspecting group of genin.
"You know...we can hear every word you're saying,"Ino stated.
Team 2 and Team 3 immediately paled, and Ino snickered.
"Everything?"Akina squeaked.
"Yes. We ALL heard EVERYTHING!"Naruto turned, a deadly look of death upon his face aimed right to the two Teams.
They all gulped as they faced the wrath of Naruto.
