Thank you very much for the review and half - flame. I'll try my best to describe things better, but sometimes it's hard to put into words. Some animators have it easy. They don't have to write it, they can draw what they're talking about. Although I'm jealous that people can describe things better than I can. I'm more of a visual person. I've also noticed that I'm throwing random flashbacks in the story. Sorry about that. I just thought of a lot of funny stuff to include and just got mixed up. For example:

“You silly ninjas, stop jumping to your deaths. I want to play with you some more.”

Marie swung her pole at her head. “Go to hell! You sound just like Shoga!”

“I can't go to hell, they won't let me. You saw Shoga!”

Last time: Things between the Takemina clan and the Aburame clan have gotten intense. I'm not sure but I think there's a big gap between them and I'm not talking about the space in the room. After getting in trouble for even being near shino, I had my faithful dog, lil brother, change into me while I have a little bit of freedom for a while. Along the way I ran into some trouble, but my brave ninja in shining dark glasses came to my rescue!

 

Today on My Ninja Way: Part of a new family

Marie “What the heck was that!!!??? What are you doing to me???!!!!”

Shino puts down the bandages. “I'm treating your injuries. What does it look like I'm doing?”

Marie covers herself up and hides under the covers. “It looks like you're taking advantage of me!!! Pervert!!”

Shino “Will you stop yelling?! I'm not that kind of person!!”

Marie pokes her head out from under the covers “Oh sure! You're not! You're the one who's touching my stomach, arms, and legs!”

Shibi shouted from the kitchen. “Is there something indecent going on in there?”

Mrs. Aburame lightly hits her husband. “Oh! Honey! Don't give them any ideas.”

Marie and Shino shouted. “STOP SAYING STUFF LIKE THAT!!”

Marie snatched the bandages from shino. “I'll do the rest myself! It's bad enough that you already saw more of me than you needed to see.”

Mrs. Aburame smiled and pointed down the hall. “Bathroom's to the right.”

Marie slightly nodded and left the room wincing in pain. Shino sat on the couch and sighed. “What did I do wrong? Why are girls like that?”

Mrs. Aburame sat next to her son. “Well, not all girls are like that and it's nothing that you did. From what you told us, she might just need time to get use to boys touching her. So don't worry.”

Mr. Aburame crossed his arms and thought out loud. “Now the real question is: what should we do about her? We should take her back home where it's safe.”

Shino shook his head. “I don't think that's wise right now. The way her mom and dad think…” he trailed off.

Mrs. Aburame got the hint. “Yes. Although I don't like it, we'll let her stay here for a while. My guess is that as soon as she gets home her parents will already be further down her throat.” She sighed. “Sometimes they're too hard on that girl.”

Mr. Aburame nods in agreement. “Well, I'll see what I can do about the arrangements. I'll be back by lunch time. Oh. And kana is coming over to visit you shino. ” He waved them good-bye before leaving.

Mrs. Aburame looked at the ceiling. “Since we're having guests tonight, I'll go shopping. Take care of everything while we're gone, alright?” She grabbed a large shopping bag and went out the door humming a tune.

Shino sighed and slouched in the couch. Not soon after he began to relax he heard yawning coming from behind him. He turned around to see Marie stretching her arms above her head. She then placed one hand on her stomach.

“That was a low blow in the stomach. I don't think it will settle for a while…”

She turned her attention to shino. Shino looked back at her and they began a staring contest. But behind all that staring was actually studying each others looks. Both admit that the other was very attractive… `As far as insanely silent blunt sexy men go!'

`As far as crazy tom-boy girls who think they can fight.'

Marie pulled a sweet smile. “Looks like, once again you were at the right place at the right time again. I really do owe you for saving my virginity and my reputation.”

Shino ignored her and turned on the TV to watch nature shows.

“I only did it because it was disgraceful and I couldn't just leave you there.”

Marie rested her arms on the head of the couch. “I'm glad you stepped in when you did and I'm sorry for being touchy earlier. You'd be the same way if you were in my shoes.”

Shino flipped through the channels. “For one thing: I wouldn't be in that situation to begin with and secondly I would have beaten them easily and I did.”

Marie puffed her cheeks. `He sounds like that dog boy kiba…dog…'

“Gasp!! Lil Brother!!! Oh no! I completely forgot about him! He'll never forgive me!”

She franticly ran towards the door only to be stopped by shino.

“Slow down. Who are you talking about?” he asked calmly.

Lil brother, my dog! I left him in my place so I could leave my room for a while. I was thinking about that Dog-boy and just remembered.” She said hurriedly.

Shino slips on his shoes and said. “I'll go with you, hinata told me that you don't know your way around the village and I bet you don't know how to get home from here.”

Marie slipped on her shoes too and walked out the door that shino was holding.

“Hey. Cut me some slack, I did pretty well at the land of waves you can admit that.”

“I'd admit that you had absolutely had no idea what you were doing.”

They continued arguing all the way to the Takemina mansion.

Both shino and marie were sitting in a nearby tree that was positioned near the room she was suppose to be in. looking around to check for guards, she motioned shino to follow her. They managed to get to her window without any problem. She signaled shino that he can jump through the window. When he did he was surprised at how empty the room was. When they said they would take her stuff they weren't joking. He stood away from the window and watched as marie searched for her dog. She looked under the covers that were on her bed and she looked under the pillow and still no sign of him. Then a light bulb went off in her head. `The closet!' She went to her closet and saw lil brother cuddled in a bunch of clothes, sleeping. Smiling she motioned shino to come look. He crouched down and looked at the sleeping dog.

“He looks like kiba's dog, akamaru.” He whispered.

Marie cocked her head. “Akamaru? Oh you mean that dog-boy's dog? I guess he does but Akamaru is waayy bigger than lil brother.” She laughed while she stood up.

“Well anyway, he's fine and I don't think that they've figured out that I'm gone yet. Still, I'm not sure how long lil brother can stay as my double…”

“I can make you a replacement with my insects. That'll last longer.” He offered.

Marie clapped her hands together. “You can do that can't you?! Please do it!!”

Shino clamps a hand over her mouth. “Shh… do you want them to hear you?”

Marie shook her head and watched as shino did his work. He warned her to look away if she was scared of bugs but she stood her ground. In the back of her mind she was scared but she just need time to get use to the sight of a lot of bugs in one place.

She looked in amazement when she saw her double formed out of insects.

“Whoa! That's so cool!”

“Gather up whatever you need and then we'll go.”

She nodded and gathered her stuff without waking lil brother. While she was doing that he gave his insects orders of what they were suppose to do until the real marie came back.

Marie waited for shino by the window. Not long they jumped out of the window and went on their way back to the Aburame mansion with a waited surprise.

 

(Now the next few scenes might be familiar to some people who read and saw this episode of fruits basket. Hint: Kagura! It was my favorite segment in the whole episode. Instead of being named kagura, she's kana. And the description is different. If it's hard to imagine than replace her with kagura.)

 

Shino and marie walked on the outside porch looking for the living room. They took a shortcut through the kitchen. She stopped when she heard laughter and sobbing coming in one of the rooms. She looked at the paper screen door that led to the living room and she looked at shino who tensed and turned white.

“Sounds like she's here early… brace yourself and I apologize in advance.”

She was going to comment about what he said when she saw the screen door being torn down by a girl who has long black hair, gray eyes, and a green kimono. She almost looks like a princess.

“Shino?” The girl questioned with tears wielding up in her eyes.

Shino raised his hand. “Kana…”

Marie stood there. `Me? Marie. Not that we all know each other. Who the heck are you?'

Kana puts her hands over her mouth and said in a soft voice.

“I don't believe it…it's…it's really you…Shino! Shino!”

Somehow she was running through a field of imaginary flowers with hearts and bubbles floating around and for some reason she's running in a dramatic slow-motion calling his name over and over. She pushed marie out the way.

She landed on her butt `seriously! Who is this girl?!'

Kana teared up even more. “Shino! Why did you stay away from me for so long? You didn't call me or send a bug…where were you? Oh, honey… I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!!”

She yelled as she threw kunai at him. He dodged it easily and kept the same bored look on his face. Marie saw them coming and ducked. She looked above her head and saw the kunai sticking out of the cabinet sink. She grimaced at the thought of them hitting her.

Kana continued throwing kunai, shuriken, and senbon at shino, but kept missing.

“LOVE! YOU HAD ME WORRIED SICK!! YOU NEVER ONCE THINK ABOUT MY FEELINGS!! YOU JERK!!”

She threw her final shuriken and started throwing knifes. One nearing hit marie square in the forehead. (If it was sakura she would have it the target.) Marie tilted her head to the right nearly dodging a dagger that only cut her cheek. Shino saw this and made a quick grab for kana's arm, who snapped out of her rampage. By that time Mr. and Mrs. Aburame came into the kitchen doorway. “My, my, look at the kitchen. Better call the main house to get the repairs done.”

Kana looked at the kitchen. “Oh, no. SPEAK TO ME, WHO DID THIS?!”

Mr. Aburame “Uh…you I think…”

Shino peeled marie off the wall and helped her to her feet. She muttered thank you.

Almost everyone sighed as they looked at the kitchen. It was a complete wreck. Everyone settled into the living room to sip tea. Stomachs were growling out loud.

Mr. Aburame commented. “I'm hungry…”

Shino crossed his arms and said angrily. “Yes. I'm hungry too.”

Kana said in a sad shaking voice. “I'm sorry. I just saw shino here and I got so happy that all my emotions came out. I couldn't help it.”

Marie stared at kana. `How can she change moods so fast? She looked so innocent the first time, and then she went into kill mode…and now…she's innocent again.'

Kana looks at shino and said in a pouty baby voice. “But it really is your fault too shino, if you'd just remember to call me you wouldn't have made me miss you so hard.”

Shino said in a bored tone “How is it my fault and who said I forgot? Maybe I just didn't want to call you.”

Marie whispered to him. “You don't have to say it like that.”

Kana smiled and blushed. “Oh, silly, yes you did. We are getting married after all.”

Me and shino spitted out our tea. “SINCE WHEN?!”

Marie thought drastically. `She can't marry shino! I want to marry shino! And if I can't marry him I at least want to be his girlfriend!'

Kana smirked wickedly. “When we were kids you asked me to marry you.”

Shino calmed back down “we were playing house at that time.”

Mr. Aburame laughed heartily. “I don't think there's anything wrong with that.”

Mrs. Aburame “If they do get married it won't change anything.”

Kana “But we understand each other in a way no one else can since we're both members of the same clan. Although shino is the next male heir of the clan and I'm not we can still be together and that's good. But the best thing is that I can keep an eye on shino all I want and he can't push me away because we are bonded forever.” She hugged him but shino pushed her off at arms distance.

Mrs. Aburame “Oh, shino don't play so hard to get. When a girl has feeling for you accept them and give her a chance.”

Mr. Aburame “Although if she doesn't please, you there are other girls lining up.”

Marie asked in amazement “Really? How many girls?”

Kana interrupted them. “Shino! Do you love me or do you hate me? Because I love you! I love you more than anyone else in the whole world! I'll prove it! I'll cook for you everyday! Even if you cheat on me, I can forgive a one time fling! No one loves you more than me do they? No, just me! I think we should always be together don't you think?” She grabbed his collar. “I JUST TOLD YOU WHAT YOU THINK, NOW SAY SOMETHING DAMMIT!”

Mr. Aburame “sighed. This is funny, but moving on… Marie, correct me if I' wrong but aren't you close to shino as well?” he smiled.

Marie rubbed the back of her head and blushed. “n-no…I think of him as a teammate.”

Kana turned her attention to her. “Huh? When did you get here?”

“I was here the whole time. Nice to meet you, too.”

“A rival! Tell me your name.”

“Marie.”

“Well. Marie, what do like best about shino? Because I love everything! Everything!”

“Congratulations”

“The good things, the bad things I like them all…”

“Congratulations”

“I'll love shino no matter what even if he marries some girl like you!”

“Once again, congratulations.” Marie said boredly. `What's wrong with me?!'

Mrs. Aburame cuts in. “Well, since the kitchen is a wreck we'll just order take-out.”

After a few quick calls to Chirac's ramen shop everyone had a great meal. Except for marie, shino, and kana. Shino was glaring at kana who was glaring at marie who was glaring at shino for glaring at kana who was glaring at marie for glaring at shino.

(If I lost you. All three of them are glaring because the other is glaring at their lover.)

Mr. Aburame puts his chopsticks down. “That was good. How about you kids?”

They all said a quick fine before going back to a staring contest.

The house phone rang breaking the tension between everyone. Mrs. Aburame answered the phone and chatted for a while. She came back.

“Well…the kitchen won't be repaired for a while so we'll have to eat with a relative until it's fixed. I can still make some more tea.”

Kana shot up and raised her hand. “No. I'll do it. If that's okay with you. It is right?”

Mrs. Aburame “I don't know sweetie. Are you sure you can do it?”

Kana ran into the kitchen. “Yay! Thank you so much!”

Everyone looked at her. `she didn't say yes.'

Marie sighed and laid down with her hands behind her head. “How does she do it?”

Mrs. Aburame “She gets the tea kettle, puts water in it…”

Marie “no! how can she act like a little house wife like that? Catering to ones every whim without giving it a second thought? I can't submit to that. I have to follow my ninja way first and all that marriage crap later when I'm dead.”

Everyone sweatdrops at her response.

Mr. Aburame “as guy and rock lee would say: `it's the power of youth!' I think.”

Marie sat up slightly. “guy and rock lee? `power of youth?' what the heck?”

Shino “you really don't know the outside world do you?”

Marie sat up and banged on the table, causing a cup of tea to spill over and land on shino's coat. “Gyahh!” “Oh! Sorry!” “Shino your coat! You better get that washed.”

Kana bursts into the room wearing a maids uniform. “What happened? Shino! Your coat! Don't worry my sweet darling; you'll have clean clothes in no time! For I am the future Mrs. Kana Aburame!” she tore off his coat and headband and ran to the laundry room.

Marie shouted. “You're already an Aburame!!”

Mr. and Mrs. Aburame smiled at kana's devotion as a wife.

Marie looked at them and back at kana's retreating form. `Is that what it's like to be in love with someone with all your heart? Is that what loving someone really is? A male and a female completely dedicated to each other through love? Will the same thing happen to me if…I'm forced to marry someone? Do I have to give up everything I want to work so hard for and focus on my husband and child?' Marie looked down and then looked up to see shino talking to both his parents. `There are some things I always hoped and dreamed of having. They seemed like mere fantasies… I wanted to go to school with friends…and come home to a warm family where I can smile and be myself. Where everyone can smile and laugh together. I want to have a family like that.' Marie puts her arms on the table and puts her head down. `I want to follow my nindo…my ninja way…the Marie way! I want to be as strong as I can be without anyone to help me. I want to get away from the Takemina clan and do what I want without following rules or traditions. I just want to prove that I can do things.'

“DRY DAMN YOU! RAHH!” Kana was trying to wring out shino's coat to make it dry faster, but she used too much strength and his coat ripped.

Marie was laughing her head off at the situation. Shino had an annoyed and calm look on his face. “My…coat…” inside he was fuming about his favorite and only coat. “Please tell me…you didn't do what I think you did…”

Kana hugged his torn coat and smiled with starry eyes. “My love…”

Shino and deadpanned “My coat. That was my favorite coat.”

Kana grabbed Marie's sash that was around her waist and handed it to shino. “I'm sorry darling; I'll fix it right away for you. Here you can wear this if you want.” “Hey!”

Shino said coldly. He was getting angrier by the second. “I want my coat. Can you grab another one from the closet?”

Kana shook her head. “No, all your coats and shirts are getting washed.”

Mr. and Mrs. Aburame asked, “Is there anything of his you didn't wash?”

Kana said quietly. “His pants…”

Marie already took her sash back and tied it around her waist, still fuming over kana. Her nose started twitching at a burnt smell in the air. “Uh…is something burning?”

Kana directed her attention to the kitchen and yelled. “Oh! The tea!” Kana ran into the kitchen to find that the tea kettle burning red at the bottom from the burner and the steam coming out the top. Kana tried to pick up the tea but burned her hands in the process. She dropped the tea kettle on the floor and the hot burning end came in contact with the wooden counter, causing counter to catch fire! She screamed in terror. Everyone came into the kitchen. In a panicking state Mrs. Aburame grabbed marie's sash and tried to put the fire out with that and kana used shino's ripped shirt. Marie shouted for someone to get the fire extinguisher and tried to help them in some way. Shino and his dad found two extinguishers and used them. (They ignored the girls who were putting out the fire.)

If you thought the kitchen was a wreck before you have to see it now. Burn stains and foam were everywhere. Most flammable things were turned to ash and some things were not usable anymore. Everyone sat in the kitchen covered it foam from the extinguisher.

Mr. Aburame laughed. “My, don't we all look lovely?”

Marie and shino growled and said deadpanned. “I can't believe you're laughing.”

Mr. Aburame placed an anger vein on his head. “Right. Now I'm mad.”

Marie glared. “You're still smiling”

(Mrs.Aburame went to bed because she fainted when she saw her kitchen destroyed)

Kana said sadly “I'm sorry, I didn't do it on purpose.”

Mr. Aburame pilled of the anger vein. “I know that kana. It really was an accident.”

Shino crossed his arms. “You still over did it.” He looked at marie who was sobbing over her now burnt, torn, and shredded sash.

`Oh, this was my favorite one…grandma made it for me…what am I suppose to tell her?'

She folded the remains of it and tucked it into her shuriken pouch. Then she looked at the kitchen. “What now? You can't just get a new kitchen.”

Mr. Aburame sighed and stood up. “We'll deal with that in the morning we all should get some rest. Especially you, miss, Takemina.”

Kana snapped her head at marie's direction. `She's a Takemina? Then she can't get near my shino! It's not allowed!'

“I know. And please call me marie.” She said as she waved her hand.

Shino stood up too. “I'll get some blankets for you two.”

Marie stood up and stretched. She dusted off most of the foam the stained her clothes and hair. She could feel kana glaring daggers at her. She shrugged her off and went into the living room. Mr. Aburame looked at kana's cold stare towards marie and asked.

“You don't trust having her here do you?”

“Uncle Shibi, please let me stay the night too. I can't go home knowing that there's a female Takemina like her staying here with shino.” She said coldly.

Shibi tried to reason with her. “I don't think you have to worry. I believe that marie is very different from her clan. She defends shino and takes his side of punishment.”

Kana wasn't listening. “I'll have to force shino to make up his mind to let that girl go home and never come back.” Shibi scratched his head. “I don't think that's a good idea. How about you try and get to know her?”

Kana frown. She grabbed a cleaning rag, wet it and began scrubbing the floor.

“I won't trust a Takemina who hates an Aburame.”

Shibi shrugged. It's a proven fact that sometimes when kana makes up her mind about something it's hard to change it. She always believes in first impressions.

He left kana and marie alone down stairs. Marie grabbed the blanket that shino tossed down and curled up into a ball on the floor to make herself warm. She decided since she was a quest and that this was an Aburame household she would let kana have the couch.

 

Marie woke up in the middle of the night to get something to drink. She tip toed quietly into the kitchen to grab a glass of juice.

(I hate water. It runs right through ya)

She took sips of orange juice and looked at the couch. Kana was not there and know that she thinks about it the kitchen looked as good as new. She looked at the paper door that was damaged before and heard paper shuffling outside. Being curious she peeked outside.

`Kana? Has she working all this time?'

Kana didn't notice marie standing a few feet away from her. She was focusing on the damaged door that she was trying to fix. Her eyes were half open and she looked very tired. “This could take all night, I just know it…” she mumbled. The tried to tape the two ends of wood together but the wood snapped. “ah.” She slumped down as a sign she was about to give up. “I'm so tired…and thirsty…” she mumbled.

Marie smiled and ran quietly into the kitchen to get her some water. She came back and kneeled down next to kana before offering her the glass of water.

“Hey, kana.”

Kana let out a small gasp when she saw her. “Marie.” She looked at the glass of water.

“I bought you some water. I noticed that you didn't go to bed and I thought that maybe I could help you fix this door so you can rest.”

Kana smiled and grabbed the glass. Before drinking the water she said. “Thank you and I'm sorry for everything I every said and thought about you.”

Marie gave her a questioning stare. “What did you say and thought about me?”

“Uncle shibi was right. You may be a Takemina, but you are different.”

Marie sighed heavily. She picked up the roll of paper, cuts it in a perfect square to fit the section of the door and placed it there. She repeated the process with kana.

“I hate it.” Marie said finally.

“Huh?”

“People don't recognize me as anyone but a Takemina. `Miss Takemina is this' `Miss Takemina is that' I'm the odd ball in my clan. I don't hate or judge people because of what clan they come from or who they are. I don't care about any of that.” She explained.

Kana placed the supplies down and looks at her. “What do you mean?”

“Well, I guess when people see me they see the heir to the Takemina clan and not an actual girl who wants to be a strong ninja. But when I see people I look beyond that. When I first saw shino I didn't think of him as a sneaky, lying, dirty aburame like my clan thinks…I saw him as shino aburame. A guy who knows what he wants out of his life and will do what he wants to get it!” she said happily adding her own words in there.

Kana pointed to herself and asked happily. “Hey, what'd you think about me?”

Marie scratched the back of her head. “Uh… I thought of you as a girl with a one-tracked mind who's obsessed with shino and becoming a house wife…”
kana was a little disappointed until she heard her continue.

“But…I also thought that deep down you would make a good gal pal.”

Both girls shared a good laugh. They're both on the same page. Unbeknownst to marie there were tiny kikaichu along the walls, eavesdropping on their conversation. Kana noticed a long time ago; being an aburame.

One kikaichu flew off to a nearby window that was shino's room. Shino sat on his bed and listened to the insect and then he smirked at what Marie thought of him. He couldn't help the like the girl himself. `This girl really is more than what meets the eye.'

Back down stairs shibi and his wife called back their insects and smiled at each other.

`This girl is definitely different.'

(The next morning to the next day to the next morning.)

Shino, marie, and kana were outside saying good bye. Over the time they had everyone has gotten closer and more comfortable. Kana and marie have become very good friends and promise to stay in contact. Shino and marie have almost become closer to talking to each other without sarcastic remarks or threating to fight, but they are slowing getting along and learning to speak on proper terms.

Kana left the gate and turned around to wave. “Okay, bye-bye! I promise to bring you a new coat when I come over shino! Love you! Bye marie!”

Shino kept his hands in his pockets and nodded a good-bye. Marie smiled and waved good-bye. “Bye kana! See you again soon!”

When kana was far out of sight, Mr. and Mrs. Aburame came to the gate where shino and marie were standing. “Kana is leaving already? She would usually stay longer.”

Mrs. Aburame turned towards marie. “Well, I guess it's almost time for you to leave too? I bet your freedom days are over and you're fully healed.”

Marie nodded. “Yes. Thank you for putting up with me. I appreciated it.” She bowed.

Mr. Aburame waved it off. “Nonsense, you're part of the family now. You're welcome here anytime you feel like it.”

Shino said annoyed. “Dad, don't offer that. What would her clan think?”

Mrs. Aburame smiled. “Aw common, shino. She could be the daughter I always wanted and she could be your sister that you never wanted.”

Both marie and shino thought evilly. `Never would I want to be related to this ninja.'

Marie bowed to them one more time. “Really…thank you all for everything. Bye!”

She waved as she ran down the dirt path leading to her clan's mansion.

Shino thought sadly `yeah…bye…'

Shibi puts his hand on shino's shoulder while Mrs. Aburame puts her arm around her son.

“Now that I think about it…she could make a good wife for you. Your father made a good husband, despite his faults.”

Shibi chuckled. “You had your faults too. More than I can count.”

She playful elbowed her husband. “What are you talking about? I was 19 and lots of fun while you were 20 and no fun at all. I completed you.”

They left shino alone and went into the house to…do what adults do when they want alone time. Shino reached into his pocket and took out the keychain that marie bought for him. He asked her what for, but she told him that it's a secret. And he thought he was the secretive one. He did feel warm inside. He clutched the keychain in his hand. In the back of his mind he thought that there will always be a part of marie with him…even though he doesn't want her there half the time.

Marie “I really want to go to sleep and ignore all the drama that's going on outside! Hey! VILLAGE HIDDEN IN THE LEAVES!! I'LL GIVE YOU ALL TO THE COUNT OF THREE TO SHUT UP!!”

Naruto “How can you say that?! 6 members of the band of assassins are attacking the village! We got to do something!”

Marie “Okay, here's the plan. You and your friends will deal with them while I go to bed and not care.”

Hinata “They all seem to be targeting you for some reason.”
