A Change of Fate!
(Scene returns to the gate of the Hidden Leaf Village, as in the previous season, and Kikyo and Neji are in the shadows of the cherry blossom trees. Neji has just announced that he has had a change in destiny….)
K: ….uh, say what? You’re kidding right?
N: No, I’m not. Look. *pulls off his headband to reveal his curse mark Manji, which appears to be reversed and is red instead of green*
K: ….wow, what’s up with that? *peers questioningly at the mark, narrowing her eyes in curiosity*
N: It’s obviously different….can’t you tell…?
K: Well yeah, but I have absolutely no idea why. I’m not in the Hyuga clan. *blinks*
N: Alright, I’ll tell you. But it’s a long story.
K: I’m sure I can keep up. *winks reassuringly*
N: Fine. *pauses for a moment* When I lost to you during the Chunin Exams, my uncle approached me and told me that he had a message for me. After first saying “so you lost again, huh?” of course.
K: Wow. What an ass.
N: But anyway, he asked me if I knew about Lady Hinata’s change in destiny.
K: Say what?
N: He said that he read into her destiny and realized something-it had nothing to do with me.
K: But didn’t it used to be that you had to die for her one day?
N: That was how things were, but now it’s different…
K: …? How’s that?
