Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Shakespeare in Love ❯ 27 ( Chapter 2 )

For this drabble, I picked a sonnet at random.

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or the sonnets.

Weary with toil, I haste me to my bed,
The dear repose for limbs with travel tired;
But then begins a journey in my head
To work my mind, when body's work's expired:
For then my thoughts--from far where I abide--
Intend a zealous pilgrimage to thee,
And keep my drooping eyelids open wide,
Looking on darkness which the blind do see:
Save that my soul's imaginary sight
Presents thy shadow to my sightless view,
Which, like a jewel hung in ghastly night,
Makes black night beauteous, and her old face new.
Lo! thus, by day my limbs, by night my mind,
For thee, and for myself, no quiet find.

-Sonnet 27

He couldn't sleep and it was all her fault. It was like this on every overnight mission. He'd spend the night desperately trying to ignore her and the next morning he'd be dead on his feet while everyone else was refreshed from the previous day. It never made much sense to him why he was the only one affected. Once, he'd even gone so far as to ask his father about it. However, Jiraiya had barely spoken three words before his father had launched into a tale about winning over all sorts of women when he was younger. The boy had no clue what this had to do with Tsunade's snoring problem.

Okay. So it's no really romance, but I thought the idea was cute.
